If you are looking for an intimate and cozy retreat you have found it. Perfect for some romantic time away as a couple, or for you and another couple, a quiet get-a-way for the artist in you, or a family outing, Dancing Bear Cabin has been called 'the cutest cabin on the mountain.'
Secluded in the pines on a quiet cul-de-sac, yet within walking distance to the quaint alpine village with shops and dining, you will be far away from the clamor of the city. Fern Lake is an easy 4 minute walk and numerous trails are nearby for your enjoyment.
You will find it easy to unwind and renew in the tall pines and fresh air. Cozy up to a book by the flicker of a warm fire. Get artistic and paint scenes of the mountains and sky. Wander down winding trails and along streams. Get out and do some serious biking or power walking. Or just sit on the porch and relax.
Come enjoy each of the four seasons: the crisp mornings and cool days of autumn when the leaves change color, winter with its frosty mornings and walks in the snow, the beauty of spring wildflowers and the warm days and clear nights of summer.
The village in Pine Mountain has several fun family events during the year, including the Lilac Festival, Wine in the Pines and the popular Oktober Festival.
Decorated with rustic lodge decor, unique art and antiques, Dancing Bear Cabin also has a whimsical side... with bears everywhere you look, of course. Dancing Bear himself, a one-of-a-kind wood carving, likes to stay close to the warmth of the glowing wood stove.
You will snuggle up in one of our two PRIVATE bedrooms on pillow topped Queen Beds. Upstairs you can soak your cares away in an old fashioned 'ball and claw' bathtub. Or for a quick get-a-way, grab a shower downstairs.
Come and treasure our family's mountain log home. You will want to make it an annual tradition!

We enjoy hearing from our guests:
'This cabin was awesome, well stocked with essentials, clean, everything was great and worked just right. Didn't get a chance to use the movies or the wood stove but nice to know it was there. We had a blast. The cabin was beautiful. Love the Dancing Bears theme. We can't wait to do this again.'

A kind comment:
I just wanted to thank you for letting John and I rent your cabin last weekend. We had a wonderful time. We encountered rain with a light dusting of snow on the mountain. The town of Pine Mountain Club was just as we were hoping for: small, quaint and charming with an old-fashioned feel. The cabin was clean and inviting.

Thanks Jim for the use of your amazing cabin. It was SO nice to be able just to walk to everything (fall festival, restaurants, the lake, etc). We really did not want to leave as we sat on the porch the final night. So quiet and beautiful looking out on the mountains. Every local we met there was super nice and friendly. Everything was so clean too. You have found a special place up there in that little hidden community. Look forward to visiting again. Thanks again,Did you find this review helpful? My husband and I traveled a lot before we had a child. This cabin would have served as a sweet, cozy respite from the hustle of busy L.A. and we would have enjoyed it a lot! We now have a toddler and visited Dancing Bear with another small family and their toddler...this place was fantastic for a family experience as well! It's clean, classic, and cozy. The lake is a block away and perfect for fishing (catch and release) and duck-feeding with the little ones. There is a large front porch where we watched icicles melt all day, and actually, is more updated (especially the master bedroom) than the photos on this listing. Finally, the owners as so easy to work with, respond quickly, and are happy to accommodate you! We have stayed several times in PMC and this is our favorite rental thus far!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

My husband and I recently stayed at this cozy cabin with some good friends and our son and daughter in-law. We loved it so much that I am already in the process of booking it for another weekend in March. We loved everything about the "Dancing Bear Cabin", especially the log walls and ceilings and the hard would floors. The kitchen was very well stocked with anything that you might need. It was just like being in my own kitchen at home. The owner is very easy is to work with and even called us on our last night there to offer us an extension on the check-out time at no extra charge to us. We would highly recommend this beautiful cabin to anyone!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Nice, rustic, knotty pine, cowboy style decorated in bear theme, naturally. For people with average standards, this is a simple 2 bedroom 2 story on cul de sac. The floors are wood and easily cleaned but the owners ask that shoes be removed. Nice for our house but at a vacation rental with boys 4 and 8 it's impossible to enforce 100% with all the in and out that goes on. Owner asks to keep the heat at 60 degrees and asks that only hardwood be burned, (hardwoods burn very slow at 5000 feet) guest brings his own hardwood, (and don't forget the matches). Once going, the wood burning stove had the lower half of the house nice and cozy. Self cleaning at the end of stay went OK but owner does not provide wiping materials like tee towels and nothing for the floor except a broom.Recommended for: Families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: First of all, I would like to thank you for supporting the local Montessori school by purchasing our donation of a stay at our family's cabin at their fall auction. Our cabin is a "Green" cabin, and to reduce the energy and resources used in the cleaning of the hardwood floors and carpeting (yes, the second floor is carpeted) we ask guests to kindly remove their shoes. Sure, it doesn't always happen, but every effort helps. Kids will be kids. Years ago when I made up the cabin's "Welcome Book" our heater was much more efficient than it now seems to be and 60 degrees was sufficient for the size of the home. Thanks for pointing out that I need to update that figure. Seems like many guests don't read section at all, as the cabin is usually nice and toasty when we inspect it after a stay. Yes, we do not supply firewood and matches (matches are a liability to provide) and we do ask that only hardwoods are burned. The creasote produced by burning soft woods like pine and fir can irritate those that may be chemically sensitive and a creasote build-up in the chimney can cause fires. You will find that we do provide paper towels on a dispenser on the kitchen counter. To keep costs affordable for the "average" traveler, we are a "housekeeping" rental. For the last six years we have supplied all the necessary cleaning tools. In the laundry closet we keep a supply of cleaning towels as well. And in the pantry closet, where you found the broom, you should have also found a microfiber dust mop, a duster, and a vacuum cleaner for the hardwood floors. Upstairs in the "Teddy Bear" Room's closet is another vacuum for the carpeting upstairs. We sincerely apologize if you were not able to find these items. All necessary cleaning solutions are kept under each of the three sinks in the cabin. These are all green and safe to use. Thank you for staying with us!

My family and I stayed here over the 4th of July weekend. We had a great time hiking some trails, visiting the waterfall, and wine tasting at the local pub. The ambience was just what we wanted: calm and quiet with beautiful scenery. Got to do a lot of great reading!!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My family recently stayed at the Dancing Bear Cabin. I will admit that I was initially hesitant that the cabin would be too "cutsie". I was wrong! Yes, there are a lot of bears but the cabin is warm and roomy with loads of charm!!! My kids loved the old fashion pull chain toilet tanks and claw foot tub. I loved the large kitchen and front porch. We all loved the cabin layout and fireplace. We've stayed at other cabins at Pine Mountain Club and the Dancing Bear Cabin is by far the best!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My husband and I went up to Dancing Bear Cabin for our anniversary. This cabin is clean, charming, warm and cozy. It was the week before Christmas and even the stockings were hung! I can't wait to visit again. Part of me wants to bring the rest of the family, part of me wants to keep it just "for us".Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
