ABOUT OUR PROPERTY:
Experience a little of old New England. Our VRBO is a charming historic family farmhouse apartment(2100 square feet) with lots of room and comfort surrounded by 22 acres. Built in 1782, our farm was famous for breeding Plymouth Barred Rock chickens. About one hundred years ago, one of these barred rock roosters won the grand prize of $2000.00 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, that’s a lot of cash for the 1800’s! Many other grand prizes were won as well, and thus our rental unit has a built in wall safe that was used back then to hold the winnings (we don’t have the combination to the safe, but we have left a stethoscope there if you would like to try to crack the code.).
Built by the Bradley family, the farm was one of the first and largest dwellings in the area. To this day, the street is named Bradley St.. The river runs through our little valley, which sometimes brings Bald Eagles, Ospreys and Great Blue Herons migrating through. There also is a train track that brings an old fashioned freight train through, and you can even book a ride on the Berkshire Scenic Railway, which runs in the summer and early fall.

Not only did the house live up to the description but it provided us with whatever we needed: lawn chairs and a blanket for a picnic; books and puzzles; CD's for entertainment; an outdoor grill for easy cooking; plenty of closet space; alarm clocks, reading lamps, even a flashlight, just in case — and all to make us feel well looked after. The setting invites you outside any time of day to enjoy the natural surroundings, including watching the two horses in the field with their daily feedings. And the location is excellent — just about every place we wanted to visit was within a short 20-30 minute ride. Wendy and Tim are thoughtful hosts who immediately responded to our questions and to our needs. Visiting their nursery was an added bonus; the beautiful plants we brought home will brighten our winter with memories of the Golden Farm Hill.

Our family of 7 people (including a 9-month-old and a 3-year-old) found this farmhouse enchanting. There was plenty of sleeping room for all of us, and we loved the many sitting areas on the main floor, for those times when we all wanted to be together as well as the times we wanted a little separation. The children loved being able to run around on the grass, and they never tired of watching the horses and chickens. The place was sparkling clean with loads of extras like serving dishes, utensils, extra blankets, etc. We had a fabulous time and hope to return in the years to come -- I recommend it highly!

A year ago, we rented this house for one week. We stayed there with my family and friends, since we were celebrating my daughter´s graduation from college. The house is very cozy, confortable and spacious. We loved the wonderful garden with the barn. Everything is just a few miles away: Lenox, Stockbridge, Williamstown,Great Barrington. We had a great time! Recommended for: Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, People with Disabilities, Romantic Getaway

"As a person who has summered the past 18 years in the Berkshires, I have to say staying at Golden Hill Farm was one of the highlights of not only the summer but also of ALL the times I've been in the Berkshires. Wendy and Tim were the most gracious hosts. We only heard from them when we needed them which really was just for technical questions (how to work the internet, etc). It was such a wonderful welcome to have fresh-from_the-garden tomatoes and peppers as well as farm fresh eggs! We enjoyed those for breakfast and missed that very much when we got home. The house is well appointed and very clean. We wanted for nothing. The location to Tanglewood and all things in the Berkshires was wonderful. They even had lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic basket for us to pack up and bring to Tanglewood. I would highly recommend Golden Hill Farm to anyone that was interested in staying in a well appointed and PRIVATE accommodation. We all loved staying here and already are planning to come back again next summer. "

We found the accomodations to be even better than we expected. The house was clean and comfortable, with a spectacular kitchen window view that we wished we could take with us. Everyone particularly enjoyed watching the horses in the field, and sitting outside to have early morning coffee. The house and yard were completely private and separate, even though the owners live in another part of the house. And when I had questions to ask the owners they were very responsive and helpful. There were 3 adult couples and one single person in our group sharing the house, and even so we found it to be spacious. We also arranged a dinner party with some friends who live in that area, and enjoyed having our appetizers in the yard, watching a beautiful sunset, while we cooked on the gas grill. When it got too cool outside we moved indoors to the comfortable dining room. We intend to return in the future, and would recommend Golden Hill Farm to everyone."

Rating 5 out of 5 5 Farmhouse vacation property TFCTenor Sharon, MA Review Submitted: August 4, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009 This rental in Lee, MA is a lovely, old farmhouse dating from 1790 or thereabouts. There are three bedrooms, all nicely appointed, on the second floor and a sleep sofa in a sittting room on the first floor. There are 2 full baths, one up, one down, again nicely appointed. The eat-in kitchen is very well equipped, including ground coffee and teas, and includes a washer and dryer. Best of all, the house is only a 15-minute drive to Tanglewood - very convenient to all the activities in Lenox. In summary, a clean, well-appointed rental with beautiful views, a big barn on the property, reasonable rates. 5 out of 5 5 A Wonderful 18th Century Farmhouse George and Phyllis Charleston, SC, USA Review Submitted: August 6, 2010 Date of Stay: July 2010 We spent the month of July here and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The house is ideally located near Lee and Lenox, yet is in a scenic rural setting. Description of the house is most accurate. We comfortably housed our various guests and had up to 6 adults and 2 small children for about a week. The children especially liked playing in the spacious yard between the house and barn. The two picnic tables provided a nice situation for eating outdoors in this pastoral setting. The 2 beautiful horses were fun to watch as they grazed nearby. Also, the hens provided a pleasant sound as they cackled occasionally, seemingly proud of themselves. Tim and Wendy live in a distant part of the house, but are completely separated from the rental property. Actually, there is an unused apartment between the rental house and their abode. They are super people, most accommodating and congenial, and make for great neighbors. It is definitely like being in two different houses. We hope to return in the near future. I AM AN ANNUAL VISITOR TO LEE, LENOX AND STOCKBRIDGE FROM FLORIDA. THE GOLDEN HILL FARM IS EXQUISITELY FURNISHED, WITH EVERY AMENITY THOUGHT OF. THE VIEWS OVERLOOKING A HORSE PASTURE AND N.E. FLOWER AND VEGETABLE GARDEN WITH A SPACIOUS LAWN AND ORNAMENTAL FLOWERS IS UNPARALELLED. THE BEDROOMS, LIVING ROOM SUNROOM, GLASSED IN PORCH,AND KITCHEN BRING YOU BACK TO EARLY 18TH CENTURY N.E. LIVING. THE TOP HIGHLIGHT IS THE LANDLORD OWNERS WHO STOP AT NOTHING TO AID YOUR COMFORT, PROVIDING VEGETABLES, FRESH EGGS FROM THE FARM, AND BAKED CAKES. WENDY AND TIM OWN A WORKING NURSERY, AND AT THE SAME TIME PROVIDE A SETTING WHICH WILL ADD TO YOUR VISITS TO TANGLEWOOD, THEATER AND LOCAL SIGHTSEEING THAT IS UNEQUALLED IN THE BERKSHIRES. I LOOK FORWARD TO RETURNING AGAIN NEXT YEAR. Recommended for: Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, People with Disabilities
