ABOUT OUR PROPERTY:
Experience a little of old New England. Our VRBO is a charming historic family farmhouse apartment(2100 square feet) with lots of room and comfort surrounded by 22 acres. Built in 1782, our farm was famous for breeding Plymouth Barred Rock chickens. About one hundred years ago, one of these barred rock roosters won the grand prize of $2000.00 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, that’s a lot of cash for the 1800’s! Many other grand prizes were won as well, and thus our rental unit has a built in wall safe that was used back then to hold the winnings (we don’t have the combination to the safe, but we have left a stethoscope there if you would like to try to crack the code.).
Built by the Bradley family, the farm was one of the first and largest dwellings in the area. To this day, the street is named Bradley St.. The river runs through our little valley, which sometimes brings Bald Eagles, Ospreys and Great Blue Herons migrating through. There also is a train track that brings an old fashioned freight train through, and you can even book a ride on the Berkshire Scenic Railway, which runs in the summer and early fall.

As an avid skier group, we have rented numerous weekend houses in Massachusettes and Pennsylvania and this is one of the best rental houses that we have stayed at. A charming house with equally charming hosts, we found the house easy to find and loaded with all the amenities one would need to have a enjoyable stay. The kids really enjoyed seeing the horses and bird watching right outside the kitchen window. Close to Jiminy Peak Ski Resort and just a few minutes away from Lee Premium outlets made this location ideal. We plan to be back very soon!Owner response: We are so pleased you and your family enjoyed staying at the farm. We try very hard to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The location of the farmhouse is a very accessible location to enjoy all this area has to offer. Skiing or shopping, as you discovered, there is something for everyone. We'd welcome you all back any time. Thanks again.

We had a wonderful experience at this property - it was clean and comfortable, offered all the comforts of home. It's just a short drive to Butternut, which is where we skied. Great for kids - our 4 year-olds were happy and had plenty of space to play. Wendy and Tim were wonderful hosts!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: We're so happy you enjoyed yourselves. We're also happy you are skiers considering the amount of snow we had! You have expressed an interest in returning in the summer. We would be happy to share the summer side of our rental with you. There is so much to do in this area. The natural beauty of the outdoors and the many events would provide you and your family many wonderful memories. We hope you are able to come. Thanks

My wife and I booked this property for a Thanksgiving stay with our two sons who live in Boston along with our daughter-in-law and year old granddaughter. We live in upstate NY in a town next to Binghamton, NY. The location was just what we wanted, about half way between Binghamton and Boston, and the property was just right, too. Spacious, comfortable, and charming. The inside was spotless. The views outside in the back are wonderful with the horses and the prized unique chickens strolling about, and the owner who lives in the house attached to it was also friendly and helpful when we happened by each other, but otherwise it felt like we had the whole property to ourselves. It will go on our list for places for future gatherings. helpful, and quiet. It felt like we had the whole space to ourselves.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: Hi Folks, Likewise it was a pleasure to have you stay with us. It's amazing in these old farmhouses that two families can live together and not hear each other because the walls are built so thick. It's also amazing that we don't even see each other because of the layout of the house, except for a rare bump into each other or if the renters need some help :) Thanks again, We'd welcome you and your family back any time!

Perfect place for exploring the Berkshires! The farm house was immaculate, completely equipment with anything you might want or need, private, and comfortable!!! The owners, who live on the property, were always available to answer any questions or give advice. It was close to town but in an area that made us feel as if we were in the country. We loved our stay there!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind words. We try our best to make our guests feel at home. We like to stay at vrbo's and know the importance of cleanliness and everything in good working order. We're happy you enjoyed your stay. Please return any time you are in the area. You are welcome anytime. Thanks again.

Not only did the house live up to the description but it provided us with whatever we needed: lawn chairs and a blanket for a picnic; books and puzzles; CD's for entertainment; an outdoor grill for easy cooking; plenty of closet space; alarm clocks, reading lamps, even a flashlight, just in case — and all to make us feel well looked after. The setting invites you outside any time of day to enjoy the natural surroundings, including watching the two horses in the field with their daily feedings. And the location is excellent — just about every place we wanted to visit was within a short 20-30 minute ride. Wendy and Tim are thoughtful hosts who immediately responded to our questions and to our needs. Visiting their nursery was an added bonus; the beautiful plants we brought home will brighten our winter with memories of the Golden Farm Hill.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+.

Our family of 7 people (including a 9-month-old and a 3-year-old) found this farmhouse enchanting. There was plenty of sleeping room for all of us, and we loved the many sitting areas on the main floor, for those times when we all wanted to be together as well as the times we wanted a little separation. The children loved being able to run around on the grass, and they never tired of watching the horses and chickens. The place was sparkling clean with loads of extras like serving dishes, utensils, extra blankets, etc. We had a fabulous time and hope to return in the years to come -- I recommend it highly!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children.

A year ago, we rented this house for one week. We stayed there with my family and friends, since we were celebrating my daughter´s graduation from college. The house is very cozy, confortable and spacious. We loved the wonderful garden with the barn. Everything is just a few miles away: Lenox, Stockbridge, Williamstown,Great Barrington. We had a great time! Recommended for: Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, People with Disabilities, Romantic GetawayDid you find this review helpful? "As a person who has summered the past 18 years in the Berkshires, I have to say staying at Golden Hill Farm was one of the highlights of not only the summer but also of ALL the times I've been in the Berkshires. Wendy and Tim were the most gracious hosts. We only heard from them when we needed them which really was just for technical questions (how to work the internet, etc). It was such a wonderful welcome to have fresh-from_the-garden tomatoes and peppers as well as farm fresh eggs! We enjoyed those for breakfast and missed that very much when we got home. The house is well appointed and very clean. We wanted for nothing. The location to Tanglewood and all things in the Berkshires was wonderful. They even had lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic basket for us to pack up and bring to Tanglewood. I would highly recommend Golden Hill Farm to anyone that was interested in staying in a well appointed and PRIVATE accommodation. We all loved staying here and already are planning to come back again next summer. "Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We found the accomodations to be even better than we expected. The house was clean and comfortable, with a spectacular kitchen window view that we wished we could take with us. Everyone particularly enjoyed watching the horses in the field, and sitting outside to have early morning coffee. The house and yard were completely private and separate, even though the owners live in another part of the house. And when I had questions to ask the owners they were very responsive and helpful. There were 3 adult couples and one single person in our group sharing the house, and even so we found it to be spacious. We also arranged a dinner party with some friends who live in that area, and enjoyed having our appetizers in the yard, watching a beautiful sunset, while we cooked on the gas grill. When it got too cool outside we moved indoors to the comfortable dining room. We intend to return in the future, and would recommend Golden Hill Farm to everyone."Did you find this review helpful? Rating 5 out of 5 5 Farmhouse vacation property TFCTenor Sharon, MA Review Submitted: August 4, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009 This rental in Lee, MA is a lovely, old farmhouse dating from 1790 or thereabouts. There are three bedrooms, all nicely appointed, on the second floor and a sleep sofa in a sittting room on the first floor. There are 2 full baths, one up, one down, again nicely appointed. The eat-in kitchen is very well equipped, including ground coffee and teas, and includes a washer and dryer. Best of all, the house is only a 15-minute drive to Tanglewood - very convenient to all the activities in Lenox. In summary, a clean, well-appointed rental with beautiful views, a big barn on the property, reasonable rates.
