The Hideaway of Ludington -- Beautiful Home in Downtown Area

The Hideaway has been welcoming visitors looking to "spread out" and relax on their vacation to this quaint town for years.
Our home was built in the 1800's and has stood the test of time and brings repeat visitors back year after year. We're located in a quiet peaceful neighborhood just 2 1/2 blocks from Ludington Avenue (the main street of Ludington) and just five blocks from the marina, lighthouse and large public beach that makes Ludington famous.
With its large size our home is great for large and extended families or friends looking to get together. Need a smaller unit? Contact us for details on renting just the upper or lower unit. We'll be happy to talk to you and explain these options.
Downstairs features lots of room with three bedrooms (king, queen, double), a spacious living room, formal dining room, large kitchen, laundry room and bath making it perfect for families, extended families or groups of friends.
The upper level consists of an eat-in kitchen, living room, bath, king bed in the master bedroom and a second bedroom attached to the master that consists of two singles, a crib, and room for sleeping bags or air mattresses. This is perfect for couples, couples with small kids, or friends looking for an affordable way to enjoy Ludington.
We also have two rollaways in the house.
Each year, visitors leave comments about their stay in a book for them to leave their memories. One thing is certainly true: the saddest part of the trip is when it is time to go. They love their stay in our home and enjoy the many wonderful options that are in walking distance to them: downtown and its shops, restaurants, bars and antique stores, the public beach, the lighthouse, and marina. Visiting the State Park is a seven mile beautiful bike ride with the water on one side and sand dunes on the other.
With an ice cream store and downtown in walking distance, kids love the ability to seek-out adventures or a scoop of ice cream on their own.
Each morning and evening, you'll hear the Badger car ferry sound its horn and if there is a bit of fog in the early morning or late at night, you'll listen to the sound of a lighthouse letting ships know where it sits.
We hope you'll enjoy your vacation in about as relaxing a place as we believe you'll find anywhere.
Sincerely,
Mike, Maureen and our children Michael and Matt

3rd straight year!

My family and I have stayed for a week for the past 2years and loved the experience. We're getting ready for year number 3. Not a lot of amenities, but for the price it far exceeded our expectations. The "Hideout" room is a big hit with my kids and a fort/bedroom and we had my wife's friend and her 3 boys stay with us for a couple of days last year as well. All were comfortable and the kitchen easily provided ample breakfast and dinner prep space. The best feature is obviously the location...right by one of the best city beaches in the midwest and minutes from the State Park (one of the best places on earth) Downtown is blocks away, especially the House of Flavors ice cream store which became a nightly habit quickly. Not luxurious, but very functional. If you want beach-front and luxury than you should be prepared to drop at least another 1,000 dollars. For the price, one of the best values for a vacation I've ever had. The fact that we are looking forward to our 3rd straight year says it all!Recommended for: Families with young children.

Hideaway is a Homerun!

Our stay at the Hideaway was not just a hit but a homerun. Our family of 5 along with my sister's family of 4 stayed for a week last Summer. The house is simple but has all the necessities, character, and charm you would expect from a house over a century old. The kids (ages 2-6) especially loved the big hideout room in the upstairs and used this as their "fort", playquarters, and bedroom. One night all 5 of them had their own sleepover in this room. Even though we had a couple days of rain and cooler weather on our trip, we did not spend a lot of time in the house because the Hideaway served as a perfect home base for exploring the coastal towns of Manistee and Pentwater on those rainy days. We spent the sunny days at the City Beach which was a 5-10 minute walk or the State Park Beach which was only a 10 minute drive. After dinner our nightly tradition was the short walk down the street to the House of Flavors for ice cream followed by a walk to the waterfront park or lighthouse for the sunset. I would recommend the Hideaway to anyone looking for a fun, clean, well maintained and economical vacation destination on the Lake Michigan Coastline.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
