This 1930's waterfront cottage on Long Cove in West Bath was completely renovated in 2007 and was offered for rent for the first time in the summer of 2008. At high tide we are surrounded on 3 sides by water, just feet from the house - like being in a boat!
One can often see fish jumping out of the water all around the house - great fishing according to neighbors (we are not fishers). These are perfect calm waters for canoeing or kayaking through endless coves out towards Casco Bay. Our four person canoe is available for renters.
Conveniently located, we are ~ a 2-½ hour drive from Boston’s Logan Airport and 45 minutes north of Portland’s airport.
For many years this cottage was owned by a famous artist who used it as his studio. He was known for his paintings and sculptures of birds. It is a special spot. Watch the birds come in as the tide goes out ... egrets and great blue herons fishing for clams. There is boat access from the house for 6-7 hours per tide cycle.
Maximum occupancy is 4. There is one bedroom with a four-poster queen bed and two twin daybeds in the living room. Dogs are considered, but the yard is not fenced.
The kitchen has an antique oak table, all new cabinets and stainless steel appliances. A huge nautical chart of the area is hung over the table so one can locate our cove in the ‘big picture’. Windows are everywhere in the kitchen,living room, bedroom and bath to take advantage of the light and the views (and the natural breezes - which mean air conditioning is never needed).
The full bathroom has all new fixtures, slate flooring, and hand-painted tile around the window. There is a hot and cold outdoor shower if you prefer – we do!
The bedroom has a vaulted wood ceiling with large skylight, a wall of windows, and a queen 4 poster bed.

Can I give 6 stars? We had a really great time there although the weather was not good, but I have nothing to complain about the house at all even I tried so hard to find something not good lol. It was very very clean. You can find almost everything you need there. The style is really I am looking for, not that typical "cottage look", mixed modern with antique perfectly; sunny at the daytime, cozy at night... Can not thank owners enough, look forward to going back next year...Recommended for: Pet owners.

My sig other and dog recently stayed at the cottage in Bath. It is in a nice location, away from traffic and fairly close to public beaches. We did not use the canoe or bring our kayaks, but it certainly is an added feature of the rental. The cottage gets the afternoon sun at the end of July, so if you have an overcast day and it clears later you can catch up on your tan!!! There are several stores within 10-15 minutes if you need to buy groceries or other supplies. The town of Bath is very nice with some good restaurants. I would recommend staying here and plan to do so in the future!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, sightseeing, girls getaway.

Loved the house and the location. Very secluded, yet moments away from everything. We did not tire of watching the tides.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners.

Wonderful location, great property with an amazing view nestled in the pines of Maine. House is very comfortable, great amenities (large kitchen and living room with window views of the water on three sides). Also near many great towns to visit. Bath has several great restaurants and sights and Camden, Rockland, Rockport and Portland are close drives. Owners have left a great resource book of things to do in the area. Very romantic rental spot -an extremely relaxing and fun vacation in a great cottage and location!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, sightseeing, adventure seekers.
