Get away to the glorious Mendocino coast and stay in a truly inspired dream house -- Erin Dertner’s artistically appointed getaway by the sea, ready to receive guests since the Spring of 2009. Boasting four bedrooms all with ocean views, 4 full baths, a large great room and a pool parlor to boot. Drive 1 mile to the village of Mendocino while being just far enough away to experience total peace and quiet, as well as taking strolls into Russian Gulch State Park which is virtually next door. Enjoy the ample “cook’s kitchen”, the indoor Jacuzzi tub, the outdoor hot tub, the expansive deck and the comfortable quarters, complete with Erin’s artwork adorning every room. We're on the west side of highway 1 in a quiet neighborhood, with ocean views to the south and west.
Perfect for 8 people, but bunk a few extras and seat 10 at the dining table. The master has a king bed and lavish bath with a 2 person shower and giant tub. A 2nd large room with king bed now has its own bath with shower, while a queen bedded room and a bedroom with a set of twins (that can be made into a king) share a roomy bath with large shower. The living room and both king bedded rooms have ample floor space for futons, as does the entry/pool room, which is also connected to the 4th full bathroom. With televisions in the living room and 2nd king bedded room, many books, board games and your own pool hall, this is a perfect spot for groups of all ages. (For parties of more than 10 people, owners must give authorization and may charge extra.)

We have rented many a house in the Mendocino Village area...some pricey, some not. When Erin claims a well appointed kitchen..it means it. The gas stove is great. The plates match.. a rarety in a vacation home. Comfy bed with jaccuzi tub and shower with duel showerheads. The ocean view is distant...area is quiet. Back yard is great for dogs..ours did not want to leave. Already, re-booked for March!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We love this home and have stayed for a week in April and a week in July. We are already planning for next year! With 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms ....we all had our own space at night yet during the day/evening had the spacious kitchen/dining room/living room/game room to share. It could not have been more perfect. The middle island in the kitchen is huge and after a long day sea glass hunting we all had room to pour out our sea glass and sort. We soaked in the hot tub and sat out on the front deck overlooking the ocean taking in the gorgeous sunsets. Tomas and Erin were very sweet and interesting...and always available for questions. We really hit the Jackpot with this one!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Our family stayed at the retreat June 21, 2011. The house and furnishings are beautiful. The pictures posted accurately reflect the condition of the property. There was plenty of comfortable seating for our large family. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to work in. The family enjoyed the pool table, hot tub and sitting on the deck watching the ocean in the distance after a busy day at the beach. We liked that you can walk to Russian Gulch headlands from the house. The owners were very accommodating throughout the process, including returning our deposit quickly. We look forward to returning.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

You had all the amenities of any first rate spa, except no spa is surrounded by such gorgeous artwork." It is amazingly spacious and has the most gorgeous view over lovely gardens, natural habitat and the sea. On the morning we left, two deer ambled into the driveway and helped themselves to some of your flora. Since we live in the city, it was a thrill to see them "up close and personal," as my daughter likes to say. About the owner: Erin and Tomas Dertner have been living and making art on the north coast for 25 years. Erin's work is represented by several national galleries and Tomas does picture framing and marketing. Together they are a remodeling 'Dream Team' with Erin's artistic expertise kicking in while Tomas knows just about everything structurally. They befriend everyone they meet, so be sure to look for them at the gallery / frame shop on Laurel Street in Ft. Bragg when you visit.
