Jungle Bee is a unique property, like no other on Kauai's majestic North Shore. In this magical setting, we have created a space that speaks to the dreams and necessities of our time, a space where the importance of the environment and the interconnectedness of all life is understood.  We strive to create a place that honors the land, air, water, and native creatures as it provides rest and comfort to its human visitors.  At Jungle Bee, we pride ourselves on being one of Kauai’s few eco friendly, green vacation rentals.

Located on the bluff, with its private access to the world famous Secret Beach, Jungle Bee is one of the most enchanted spots on our planet.  In this 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom house, you will relax with the comforts of home: a fully stocked kitchen replete with professional cookware, space to sleep 8 people, a dining room table to fit the family, high speed wireless, and a washer and dryer.  You’ll also find some delightful surprises, including drying racks to air dry your laundry, organic dry goods and spices in the kitchen, sheets and towels made of organic cotton and bamboo, countertops made of recycled glass, walls that were painted with VOC-free paint, and certified sustainably harvested hardwood laminate floors. There are two Master Suites, each tastefully decorated with Balinese Furnishings. Each Master Suite has its own full bath as well. The third bedroom features trundle with two twin beds. There is also a Queen sized sofa bed in the living area.

At Jungle Bee, you will have 13 private acres to explore between the house and Secret Beach.  In your wanderings, you’ll discover nature’s bounty as you walk through our mango, citrus, mangosteen, rambutan, lychee, coconut, avocado, banana, longon, guava, starfruit, noni, and papaya trees.  On your sunlit walks you’ll undoubtedly find an irresistible plumeria or hibiscus flower to pluck for your hair, and on your moonlit walks you may meet one of our friendly local toads. As you explore Jungle Bee you will be amazed by its diverse ecosystems. You will pass through lush tropical forests with stream fed waterfalls. Each night, you’ll be lulled to sleep by the Pacific’s mighty waves in the distance.

Secret Beach is one of Kauai's true gems. With its extremely limited public access you can enjoy this one mile stretch of beach practically by yourself. A short walk along the lava rock coast, where you enter the beach will take you past lava rock pools, suitable for swimming and eventually to a cascading waterfall, one of several at Jungle Bee. The walk from the house to the beach is along man made paths and easy for those of all ages.

If it sounds like you’ve discovered the Garden of Eden, you’ve got the idea.

North Kauai Dream Home

Guest: Ginger (Los Gatos, CA)
Date of Stay: 09/18/10 Review Submitted: 10/07/10

Our party of five was delighted with the property overlooking a tropical farm and ocean. The decor was Balinese in the bedrooms and tropic casual in the dining and living rooms. My mother enjoyed the blue master bedroom suite so much she didn't want to leave to go exploring even though she owns a huge house. The kitchen was spacious and had almost everything we needed except for a wok, whisk and cookie sheets which we will bring next time. We were greeted by mounds of fresh fruit in the kitchen and arrangement of torch ginger, bird of paradise often supplemented by finds from the garden. While it was unusually hot and humid during our visit September 18-26th, the rains cooled the temperature by a few degrees every night. The property is located near Princeville, Kapaa and Hanalei for shopping, botanical gardens and beaches. We enjoyed a luau at nearby Smith's but cooked every other night as my husband is a corporate chef and wanted to visit every farmer's market and fresh seafood shop on the island. Jimmy was out that week but Adam was a delight. He brought and opened fresh coconuts so we could make ice cream with ginger and coconut milk. He is a carpenter, surfer, and all around great property manager. My husband and brother in law walked the steep trail to Secret Beach but I could only manage to the Mermaids. Glenn and Kim answered all our questions very quickly. We highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the north shore of Kauai.

Owner response:Dawn, From all of the staff at Jungle Bee it was our extreme pleasure to have you as a guest. You had such great insights about the property. We look forward to seeing you again. Mahalo from Glenn and the entire staff of Jungle Bee

Beautiful Property

Guest: Don (New York City)
Date of Stay: 08/06/10 Review Submitted: 10/03/10

We had an amazing time on this extroadinarily beautiful property. Almost everything could not have been better. The only small problem was that the third bedroom was very small and the rest of us felt a little bad for the person staying there. The grounds were really a treat and secret beach was never very crowded.

My experience with this property, from inquiry to departure, was wonderful. Owners attentive to every detail. House is perfectly located and had everything you could want - lovely landscaping, thoughtful decoration, convenient location, beach and waterfalls. Perfect for those who want some peace and quiet and especially if you have children - lots of room to play!

Wonderful, rejuvenating stay

Guest: Laurie A-C (Seattle, WA)
Date of Stay: 06/02/10 Review Submitted: 06/14/10

My husband and I had an amazing stay at the Jungle Bee earlier this month. We stayed for 8 nights. The house was great! It was in perfect condition. Very clean, well-maintained, and tastefully decorated. It had everything we needed for our stay. We could see other houses nearby, but heard almost nothing from neighbors. It was a very quiet place to hide out and relax. The views of the mountains and ocean were lovely, even on the couple of cloudy days we had. Unfortunately, the mosquitoes made it impossible to enjoy hanging out on the back porch, but we enjoyed watching the sunset from the house. It was also amazing getting to watch the sunrise from bed! The path down to Secret Beach was a bit mysterious (we never quite figured out if we were trespassing or not), but we enjoyed walking along the beach and exploring the lava pools. We loved being in Kilauea, with its easy access to our favorite east side spots (like Moloa'a) and northwestern spots (like Haena), as well as the tasty ice cream (Kilauea Video & Ice Cream) and fish (Kilauea Fish Market) in town. When a small maintenance problem occurred, Jimmy was very professional and responsive. We also very much appreciated working with Glenn and Kim on booking the property; they were extremely helpful and responsive. Even though we booked the property at the last minute, they all made sure that everything was ready for us. There was even a lovely platter of fruit from the property and other treats waiting for us when we arrived! The house was a bit pricey for just the 2 of us, and we'll probably book a smaller place next time (if we manage to plan a bit further in advance!) But we'd highly recommend it to those who want the extra space and don't mind the price or are traveling with kids or another couple. It was a really relaxing, rejuvenating stay. We had an amazing time, and would consider ourselves lucky to stay at the Jungle Bee again in the future. Mahalo!

Owner response:Aloha and thank you for your kind words. We are sorry you encountered mosquitos during your stay. In such a lush tropical setting there are periods where these conditions might occur, however it is not always the case. As fare as trespassing we own the adjoining property as well and all of the paths belong to Jungle Bee. So explore to your hearts content. I guess when venturing into the Jungle for the first time it can be confusing. That is part of the excitement. Mahalo for choosing Jungle Bee and we hope to see you again.

Wow!

Guest: Gardener in AZ (Northern Arizona, USA)
Date of Stay: 04/01/10 Review Submitted: 04/21/10

My wife and I had a great time at Jungle Bee with our two kids. Our 7 year old stayed in the 2nd master suite and our 2 year old in the twin bedroom. Jungle Bee has an amazing energy that isn't captured by any pictures. While we where there, we got to see hundreds of Cacao trees being planted, and the kids got to see three baby goats that were recently born. The highlight was sitting on the swing and watching the humpbacks breech at sunset. The caretaker, Jimmy, was awesome and I enjoyed talking permaculture and organic-agriculture with him. We'll definitely be back.

The Ultimate Tropical Vacation

Guest: Nitrex (Encinitas)
Date of Stay: 11/06/09 Review Submitted: 04/06/10

Let me just say what a privilege it was to have stayed for 10 days at this tropical paradise. The pictures in no way can describe what we experienced while at Jungle Bee. The eco friendly house had two master suites which was perfect for us and the couple we traveled with. Upon arrival we were presented with fruits and spices all picked from around the property. We picked our own fruit throughout our entire stay. We enjoyed sunset views from the swing on the bluff and spent days on the secluded beach down below. The stroll to the beach was relaxing and filled with things to gaze at such as waterfalls, a river and endless vegetation. We really felt as if we had our own private jungle. The location was great and we enjoyed biking into the town of Kilauea where we drank coffee at the bakery. This is a destination I would recommend to all. It went beyond anything I could have ever expected and we consider ourselves lucky to have stumbled upon Jungle Bee. Also the price was surprisingly reasonable. We look forward to returning in the near future. Mahalo...
