Property, location, ammenities, and owners (lived in house in front of cottage) were all excellent. Those who would have a problem with STEEP stairs (almost a ladder) should look at this issue before renting.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, tourists without a car, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the 'Tree House' cottage. We were in Berkeley visiting our son and grandson. The cottage was in close proximity to where they lived and was much cheaper than having to stay at a local hotel. I must admit we didn't spend much time there, usually having breakfast and then off to that day's activities and not returning till evening. We absolutely loved the bed which is up in the attic and has 3 skylights over it. You really can't go wrong staying here. Jim and Susan have provided just about any amenity you would need and they've provided a cozy comfortable living space. We certainly will be returning here the next time we visit Berkeley.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

Susan is a wonderful host and a very lovely lady who makes you feel at home and is very helpful. The cottage is lovely, quaint and located inside a cute, tranquil garden. The location is idyllic with great views and near Tilden Park. A car is definitely needed though to get around unless you're familiar with the Bart system. All in all a lovely, tranquil location inside a unique property.Recommended for: Sightseeing.

The cottage is located behind the owner's home with a separate entrance through a side gate. The cottage itself is well equipped with the basics, quiet, and very clean. The home is in a lovely neighborhood and we enjoyed going for walks with the baby and our dog in the evenings. Susan and her husband are very hospitable and did not hesitate to help us with questions and concerns during our stay. It was our first trip with our 9 month old daughter and Susan was so thoughtful to bring us a high chair and baby swing to use during our stay. We loved our stay and would highly recommend it. Thank you for sharing such a lovely place !Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, age 55+, sightseeing.

Susan and Jim have created a quiet and calming oasis in the midst of crazy Berkeley. It was perfect for my week stay. I appreciated going "home" to an extremely clean and well appointed house. They did everything I would have done if I had a rental and even more.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

This romantic hideaway tucked in the hills of Berkeley, was the perfect base for my husband and I to explore the Bay area for seven days. Since the only meal we ate at the cottage was breakfast, the small kitchen was sufficient for our needs. The bed was very comfortable! We left the window open at night and let the soothing sounds of the small fountain sing us to sleep. A big farm table provided a perfect spot to look out over the bay and eat breakfast. We were able to step out the door and pick fresh herbs and tomatoes to use. Everything was sparkling clean and everything we needed was provided. The hosts were wonderful and we enjoyed spending our last evening with them. The nearby neighborhood of Albany was a really neat place, especially Solano Street. We recommend Barney's for yummy, yummy burgers and great staff. Thai Basil had a wonderful happy hour with great deal on appetizers and very good coconut chicken soup. Church on the Corner is an awesome non-denominational church to visit. We also recommend San Francisco Shuttle Tours 8 hour Muir Woods and City Combo. Awesome! Would definitely recommend anyone stay at this comfy cottage if your in the area.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

This cottage is set in a lovely back garden with fish pond, hammock, and tree house--a tranquil spot for relaxing after a day browsing the shops in Berkeley and dining in gourmet ghetto. The Euro style kitchen was well equipped. Sitting at the spacious pine table with garden view was a good spot for lap top and cell phone use. I enjoyed the quiet, comfort of the loft bedroom at the end of each day. Best of all, the owners are friendly, personable people.Recommended for: Sightseeing.
