Burnsville cabin description
'Trillium' at RIVERWALK...Private, Cozy AND Immaculate! Spend a weekend or a week in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Great location for every season of the year!
Each of our cabins, Trillium & Morning Glory, provide a large, private, 6-person hot tub just outside the door. Sit in one of the front porch rockers to enjoy the view of the Cane River and the horses in the pasture along the rivers border. At night, look up and be amazed by the abundant number of stars in the sky like you've never seen before.
What would a mountain cabin be without the scent and warmth of a wood burning fireplace? Each of our cabins has a wood burning fireplace. We provide free and unlimited wood for our guests so you can enjoy cozy fires all day and all night, if you'd like.
If you demand comfort and ease while away from home, you'll find it here! Each kitchen is equipped as if it were our own for year round use. We also provide a starter supply of coffee, tea, hot cocoa and related supplies (sweetners & creamer) so you can arrive late, if necessary, and without feeling pressure to immediately run out for supplies. Tissue & toilet paper, paper towels, bath soap, dish soap, laundry soap, iron, blow dryer...it's all there. If you need something out of the ordinary, let us know. Chances are we can make it available. Once you check in we want you to sit back and relax.
Comfort, we demand it and so should you! Every guest will rest well in our beds. Our mattresses are all Simmons Beautyrest and guests continue to give our beds the highest marks. Each cabin sleeps up to 6 guests. The master bedroom has a queen bed while the loft bedroom upstairs provides guests the option of either 2 twin beds or a king. Simply specify your preference when booking the reservation. Each of the 2-floors has a full size bathroom. The sleeper sofa in the living area will sleep 2 additional guests. A porta crib is available upon request.
Wireless internet, telephone with unlimited long distance and the best cable package Direct TV has to offer is all included with our cabins.
Get out and see the surrounding area or stay on the property for your entire vacation (which is what many repeat guests enjoy doing). All the property surrounding our cabins is family owned and available for exploration by our guests. The neighboring barn and horse riding arena are owned by Laura's parents, Paul & Judi Ewing (the original Riverwalk cabin owners). For a small fee, guests may now book time with Judi and her horses. Kids especially get a kick out of learning how to care for and groom a horse.
Two private, family owned, riverside parks are available for guest use as well. Between these two parks guests can enjoy river tubing, a youth zip line, built-in swimming pool, fabulous trout fishing, a LARGE fire pit and a covered picnic pavilion with grill. Did I mention how fabulous our parks are for outdoor events? Weddings, family reunions, birthdays??? Yes, FABULOUS!!
2-wheel drive vehicles are usually adequate to get to and from the cabins to the state road. If you have any difficulty whatsoever, we live just around the corner and are available to help you 24/7.

This was a great cabin for a quick get away. Quaint, clean, great hot tub, plenty to explore. We had a great time and hope to be back soon. :)

This property is everything it promises to be and more. The cabin is meticulous and spacious, with fully equipped kitchen. You wake up in the morning to a view of grazing horses and the river lazily flowing just yards away. Located in the Pisgah National Forest, there is a lot to see nearby, including the Blue Ridge Parkway, Mt. Mitchell, Little Switzerland etc. This vast property itself offers wonderful walks by the river, picnic areas even horseback riding. In the evening, after a long day, the hot tub on the deck is a must. And if the evening is on the chilly side there are logs stacked up waiting to be used in a real wood burning fireplace. The owners couldn't be nicer, making sure we have everything we might possibly need. The town of Burnsville with its quaint downtown and well supplied supermarket is only minutes away. This place is a wonderful getaway for a couple as well as an outdoors loving family with kids.

Trillum was a beautiful cabin to stay in. It was a warm inviting home and located in a quiet location ...off the main drag. The beds were very comfortable. We had everything we would need except for food. The town of Burnsville is only about 5 miles away. It has cafes, grocery store (Ingles) a town square with shopping. We loved the town and the people were welcoming and made you feel right at home. Lots of places to walk and relax. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch and enjoyed the fireplace. We can't wait to go again and again!! Laura, the manager, is a dream to work with. You won't be disappointed with anything.

Our stay at Trillium was wonderful. The purpose of our trip was to visit family in Asheville & Burnsville NC. The cabin was clean and well equipped. The beds were very comfortable and the hot tub was a bonus. We did a lot of running around during the day but thoroughly enjoyed our evenings resting at this retreat. I would recommend anyone stay here.

Great place and great setup for a vacation

We had a wonderful time at Trillium. The cabin was clean and perfect for our family of 5. My girls, ages 10, 10 and 5, loved the zip line, swimming in the river and petting the horses. We were also close enough to other attractions to make our days at Trillium a pure pleasure. We will return some day.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Trillium. The cabin is lovely and the surroundings are beautiful. Enjoyed beautiful scenery while hiking right on the property. We had never been to Burnsville...the downtown area has several quaint shops. Enjoyed a performance at the Parkway Playhouse in Burnsville. Laura has done a great job making This property a welcoming retreat. The cabin is immaculate and well appointed with all the comforts of home. The park area was perfect for a cookout by the river.. All we had to take was the food...the park area was equipped with everything else we needed. Do know that cell phone service is spotty(really a blessing anyway!) and that the upstairs bedroom is a loft. Thanks to Laura and her son Luke for making us feel so welcome!

Owner response: We love when guests take advantage of what Riverwalk has to offer, without having to leave the property! So glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your kind review :-) Laura
We have just returned from a wonderful week at Trillium cabin. The experience was perfect for our family. I spent a lot of time trolling through VRBO for cabins in the mountains, and from the moment I spoke to Laura, I knew this was the place for us. The property is beautiful with plenty to do (or not if that is your choice) without having to get in the car. We took advantage of the hiking, rafting, and zipping in the area. But we also took advantage of the river at the property, the hot tub, the pavilion, etc. Trillium was perfectly clean with everything you could possibly need there. The description on the website is accurate, and the pictures don't do it justice. Laura was so responsive via both emails and phone calls, as well as when we arrived, and during our stay. The hiking in the area is tremendous. We also did great white water rafting and ziplining through French Broad river and ziplines. Drove into Asheville as well for some fun. I have recommended this location to anyone who has asked about our trip, and am already trying to concoct how we can get back there and experience each of the seasons in the mountains. I have recommended this place to everyone who has asked about our trip

Wonderful spot by mountains and river!
Wonderful spot by mountains and river!
Our family had a wonderful time at this place! The property is a beautiful spot, near the river, nestled in the mountains, close to Burnsville and the hosts are very welcoming and accommodating. The cabin is very comfortable and spacious - we loved the hot tub and having our own kitchen (we cooked all our meals there and ate on the deck). We are already thinking of booking our next trip to Riverwalk. We have friends in the area, but even if we didn't, there is so much to do - hiking, waterfalls, tubing in the river, Asheville, Penland School, and it's not too far from the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Great property. We've stayed at Riverwalk about 5 times now in the past 8-10 years. We go to be in the mountains, and get away from the triangle's business. Napped in the rain, fished in the creek, at dinner by the fire, fished in the stream. Never had a problem with anything, this time or anytime.

Peace and quiet!
Peace and quiet!
Had a fabulous stay at this very cozy, well kept cabin. Tastefully furnished, well stocked and fabulously comfy beds! Everything was great - temperatures were maybe a bit chilly, but the warmth of the cabin made up for it. Lovely views, the sound of the creek was so relaxing, and the surroundings were just perfect for that "get away from it all" weekend. Enjoyed a walk around the trails and loved to see the grazing horses. Trillium and Riverwalk cabins are definitely going to be a repeat vacation.

About the owner: I'm Laura Watrous. My husband and partner, Brett Watrous, are the owners of the two luxury vacation cabins that make up Riverwalk Vacation Rentals. We love our life in the mountains and find great joy sharing our special piece of the world with guests. Our cabins were originally designed with the kind of comfort and luxury we strive for when we vacation.
Why the Owner Chose Burnsville:
The saying goes: 'I wasn't born in Burnsville but I got here as quickly as I could' The climate is perfect with four different seasons: Beautiful cool Summers, colorful Falls, relatively mild Winters, and fresh colorful Springs. Trillium is in a perfect location to make the most of why a Blue Ridge Mountain vacation is great any time of the year.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Trillium cabin is private yet convenient to features not available anywhere else. This cabin sits just above the Cane River. The view from the front porch is of the river as well as of the horse pasture which borders the river. Also, there are two privately owned riverside parks which cater to our guests. One with pool & playground, the other offers picnic pavilion, river tubes, large fire pit and youth zip line. Nearly 200 acres of easy hiking surrounds the cabin. Also close to Blue Ridge Parkway and Pisgah National Forest (pedestrian, bike, equestrian trails). Neighboring farm with people friendly horses, donkeys, goats. Farm owner offers horse 'time' for a small fee.
