About this property

Mountain Class & Comfort - Hot Tub, Fishing, River Play - All Day!

NOTE: AWD or 4WD vehicles required (year round) for short road to house. Road is gravel and steep. See bottom of description regarding pets and booking requirements.

Jax Place provides a refreshing, tamed environment from the moment you pull into the driveway! Enter inside to find an open living floor plan ready for sitting back, kicking feet up and getting toasty warm by the roaring fire in front of you. After a visit to the grocery store, dining out will hardly be necessary. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly need to gourmet up every meal at home. In the morning, take a seat on the decked porch with your morning coffee overlooking cows grazing green hills on the neighboring property and "Judi's barn" below (where a couple of very loved, spoiled horses reside). In the evenings, relax in the hot tub then cozy up to the blaze of fire around this home's private fire pit. Don't forget to look up to see the magnificent, unobstructed star filled sky and, in the warmer months, the thousands of fireflies flashing in the trees!

This amazing home is located in the small riverfront community of Riverwalk. Riverwalk offers a lush park with picnic pavilion along the bank of the Cane River perfect for trout fishing, river tubing (in the summer), tossing a Frisbee or just sitting back to take in the sound of the river. Stand to look out over the park and river at the bottom of the driveway, or simply take a short walk to be there. If hiking is on your stay agenda, there are close to 200+ acres in the community of Riverwalk in which residents and vacationing guests are welcomed (and encouraged) to explore!

When traveling off the property, guests can enjoy an array of area activities. The Pisgah Forest Trail Guide in the home lists 38 hiking trails detailing the unique traits of each trail as well as step by step directions for getting to each. Shop the local boutiques and high end craft galleries of Burnsville and Asheville, enjoy a live play at Burnsville's historic Parkway Playhouse, tour the meticulous gardens and majesty of the infamous Biltmore House in Asheville or simply pack a picnic for a leisurely drive alone the incredibly scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. While on the Parkway, one must not miss a stop at Mount Mitchell State Park! At 6600+ feet above sea level, Mount Mitchell boasts the highest elevation east of the Mississippi River.

Whether you're visit is to relax, explore or get adventurous, you may find yourself looking for ways to add extra nights to your stay to get it all in!

We’ve done our best to make packing for a stay at Jax Place a breeze. Pack a suitcase with your personal belongings and a grocery list for a quick stop as you roll into Burnsville. You won’t need much else as Jax Place is kept stocked with dish cleaning supplies (including a brand new kitchen sponge for each new guest stay), laundry soap, and coffee filters for the auto drip coffee maker. Each new guest stay is provided a roll of paper towels and a couple of rolls of toilet paper to get their stay started. Guests must supply their own replenishments of paper products, but what is supplied should suffice for a stay of up to 5 to 7 nights (depending on number of guests staying).

The property is very nice and just the right size. We enjoyed the games down stairs the fully equipt kitchen. The location is very nice and close enough drive to the Main street of Burnsville. Definitely need the AWD vehicle to get up the driveway. Definitely enjoyed the stay.

Proposal Trip
My fiancé and I stayed here early November. The cabin was very clean. The views were fantastic and very quiet for those looking for some privacy. Large living room and master bed/bath. The walk-in shower was also very nice. The kitchen could use a few more items such as pots/pans/cutting board and make sure to bring your own spices. It also lacked some grill accessories. The master bed mattress has a divot sinking into the middle of the bed and the frame felt like it was going to fall apart. A bolt actually came out of the bed frame and hit the floor. We also love our fireplaces being from Wisconsin and it seemed it was made difficult for guests to use the fireplace as no kindling or fire starting materials were provided. If these few things can be updated this is a 5-star stay! They aren’t kidding about needing a 4 wheel drive vehicle. We drive a 3/4 ton truck and needed 4wd. The hot tub in the evening was great watching the sun go down.

peaceful location, beautiful home, great view from the porch
Very nice place to vacation. The kitchen had everything, living space is large and open, main bedroom is extraordinary- cathedral ceiling, huge proportions, really nice big bathroom and shower. The need for an all wheel drive vehicle is no joke, but luckily my vehicle is perfect for the occasion. One suggestion- trim the branches in front the Shady Lane sign- we missed the turn on our first trek up to the house.

Excellent get away spot!
We had a wonderful time here, enjoying peaceful mornings on the deck, evenings in the hot tub, and nights around the campfire. Cabin is clean and well stocked! The location is off the beaten path, but is extremely quiet and secluded. Overall i would definitely recommend it!

Outdoor Adventure Meets Indoor Comforts
We vacationed with our teenager and elementary schooler. We are typically big campers, but wanted an outdoor vacation with less work. This cabin is so thoughtfully put together. The scenic views from the porch cannot be emphasized enough; we sat on the porch every morning and evening enjoying the mountain views. You cannot see stars like this in major cities, like where we live. Everything we chose to do outside of the cabin was provided in the Welcome Book at Jax place—super extensive and helpful in every detail. We visited a lot of local shops and ate at some of the local Burnsville places. We were very impressed with the whole town. Great beer, food, and everyone was super friendly and helpful. Whether it was a day hanging at the cabin to read, play games, walk to the creek, and hang in the hot tub or heading out for hiking and tubing, we had a great time. We highly recommend NCOutdoorAdventures for a no fuss river adventure. The local waterfalls are really amazing experiences. Great hiking and sightseeing at Mt Mitchell and along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Experiencing the River Arts District in Asheville will not disappoint. Visiting Emerald Village was also a great way to see some local history, and our kids had a lot of fun with the gem mining and cave tour.
