Big house. Comfortable. Had everything we needed. Kitchen was well equipped. (My sister did complain that there was too much teflon.) Nothing to do with the house, but neighborhood dogs have left their poop in the yard. Made it difficult for the snowman crew. Thanks for the enjoyable stay.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We were very happy with the River Rock Lodge. The main living area has a high ceiling, light colors (not the dark wood you often see in mountain cabins), hand painted trees on the walls, and the rear of the house is basically a huge picture window looking out into the trees behind the house, which our kids immediately ran out to explore. The kitchen was large and well stocked, and were even able to have our friends staying in a nearby house over for dinner (bringing us to 10 adults and six kids) without running out of room. Our plan was to ski at Homewood, which is only a few minutes away, but after finding on the first day that there's not a lot of true "bunny slope" area at Homewood (we had a few first time skiers), we spent the second day at Squaw Valley, about 30 minutes away. We spent the third day skiiing at Homewood again, and it was a great success. The owner was very accessible and flexible when it came to planning our trip. We had a great time, and I'd definitely recommend River Rock Lodge to anyone looking for a place on the West shore.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

My husband and I along with my children and step children recently stayed at the River Rock Lodge. The house was beautiful!!! Very homey and comfortable. We loved the big living room area and the rock fireplace. The big dining room table was great when we played family board games at night. The location of the house was so convenient to the Homewood Ski Resort. It was a wonderful vacation-Late Christmas gathering and out 1st wedding Anniversary !!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

We recently spent 3 nights at this property in Lake Tahoe. We had such a great time! The house is beautiful and the kitchen is so open and easy to cook great meals for our group of 8. There was plenty of room with all of the bedrooms and beds. We also played a lot of ping-pong and billards (eventhough the table has a center left pocket advantage :-)). We all enjoyed the hot tub after both our day of skiing at Homewood and our next day of sledding at Sugar Pine Point. So lucky we had such great snow.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: I am so glad to hear that you had so much fun at the River Rock Lodge! Lots of snow is always great for outdoor activites like sledding and snowball fights :) Thank you for the kind words on our house, its always good to hear people enjoy it as much as we have! It was great to have you and cant wait for the next time!

A great way to spend my birthday. Our whole family went to the "cabin," and there was a total of 7 adults, one young adult, and 2 small children as well as a baby. The cabin is set up that we all had ample room to enjoy our time together and yet plenty of places to go if we wanted alone time. The cabin is very nice, well stocked, and comfortable. I really enjoyed sitting out on the deck listening to the woodpecker and feeling the cool breeze. The men enjoyed the game room playing ping pong and pool and the two grandchildren 3 and 6 enjoyed their own "spa" in the Master Bathroom since we didn't share the big one! One afternoon was spent at Meeks Bay which was just minutes away from the cabin! Very beautiful and refreshing. Special thanks to Karina for being so helpful to make this a birthday I will remember :-) She was very accomodating in many ways. You have a lovely place. Thanks for sharing it. I've heard so much about it so I'm glad I finally got to experience it for myself! Overall, it was a great time and the cabin was perfect. I will definetly look into renting it again!! P.S. We ate breakfast at the Firesign Cafe in Tahoe City on the way back to Sacramento, just about 10 minutes from the cabin. Wonderful meal!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our stay at River Rock Lodge was fantastic! We arrived to snow, which made the trip romantic. We had dinner in for the night, and were able to move around the gourmet kitchen with ease. After dinner and some wine, we watched a movie by a roaring fire, followed by some hot tub time. It was great sitting in the hot tub while it was snowing out! This home is filled with warmth, joy and happiness! We already booked a getaway with our girls so they too can enjoy this wonderful lodge in the mountains!! Thanks Kim!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This was perhaps the 6 or 7th house we have rented in Tahoe over the last 10 years and it was by far the best we have had. Great location, quiet street, gorgeous house with comfortable beds, and it had an amazing kitchen to cook our meals in. If you are a fan of Homewood Ski Resort as we are, then this is the house for you! The ski lifts are only a 2 minute drive away!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Just returned, could have used more snow. The home is terrific, plenty of room for all 9 of us. I love being able to seat all of us at the dinner table. The views a privacy looking out the large windows into the forest is magical. Kim is very helpful and reachable. They have thought of everything to make you feel right at home. We hope to return next season.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children.
