Fantastic place to stay!
Fantastic place to stay!
We had a great time at the cabin. First impression when we opened the door was that it looked even better than the pictures. Clean and tastefully decorated in all areas. The cabin has everything you need. Many of the things I didn't think to bring were already there. Coffee filters, dish washing liquid, trash bags, loads of towels in the bathroom cabinets, hair dryers in both bathrooms, lots of extra pillows and blankets. The hot tub was clean and warm (92+). The master bathtub is HUGE but be careful getting in...you need to sit on the side first as there is no step. Fireplace worked great. The mountain road was a bit scary but fine as long as you take your time and follow the owners directions. Ideal location for both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Only thing missing was a gas grill on the deck although there is a camp style grill at the front of the cabin. We have traveled extensively and lived in multiple countries and found The Little Bear Lodge to be an excellent alternative to the touristic condos and over crowded hotels on the strip. We will definitely be back. Thanks for booking us last minute Randall and giving us a great rate.

Owner response: Kathy, Thank you for staying at Little Bear Lodge and also for taking the time to review our cabin. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you will come and visit with us again soon.
all the recreation games were broken or missing pieces. It was discouraging to find this. The fireplace didn't work and there was no cabinet space to put food and little counter space. Bed rooms were fine.

Owner response: I have been in anticipating this negative review. The guest sent me an email the night before departure (9:16 PM), three days after check in letting me know that the some of the games were not working and that the fireplace was not working. I asked her if she had called maintenance during there 3 day visit and she said no. She thought maintenance was for emergency situations only. For future guest I have maintenance people in the area 7 days a week. While the repair of games is not an emergency if it had of been reported maintenance would have come out to address the issues. The same for the fireplace. We deeply regret that this guest had a negative experience at Little Bear Lodge.
Cabin In the Woods
Cabin In the Woods
My granddaughter, her husband, myself and two great granddaughters spent 3 days in the Little Bear Cabin. It was very roomy, offering lots of space for the little ones to enjoy. We loved having TV's in all the rooms. The decorations were woodsy with a bear theme and everything was well kept. This cabin was reasonably priced and between gatlinburg and pigeon forge, we priced other cabins and they were twice the price. A little trip down the hill to get to the main highway but once you maneuvered it no problems. Suggestion would be to add a few bins on a shelf in the bedroom on the first level to store clothing or other items. We could not get the fireplace to work but it could just be we weren't familiar with the operation. The hot tub was clean and my granddaughter and family used it a couple times during our stay. It is nice to know that the owner of this property priced it so that a family can afford the luxury of having a cabin to stay in versus a hotel. We will recommend this property. The listing and photos of the property were pretty accurate. .

Owner response: Linda, Thank you for staying at Little Bear Lodge and thank you for taking the time to review your stay. We are glad you and your family had a good visit. We are sorry for the issue you had with the fireplace but it has since been lit. The pilot had somehow blown out. We hope that you will come back and visit with us again soon.
Peaceful & Cozy! A nice home away in a wooded, mountainside community.
Peaceful & Cozy! A nice home away in a wooded, mountainside community.
As a traveler who feels that the "details" can make or break a vacation, I must begin this review by giving Little Bear Lodge & its owner 5 huge stars!!! As some reviewers in the past have noted, this owner is very attentive to his guests' comments, suggestions, and/or complaints. And to those who like to complain after the fact...shame on you!!! To make my point here, my family arrived at the cabin after dark, and we discovered rather quickly an issue with privacy in the master bedroom and at the front door. We immediately took pictures which we forwarded to the owner. Upon seeing the pictures, and agreeing with our concern, he had maintenance replace all of the faulty shades with new blinds!!! We found Little Bear to be more than spacious enough for our family of four. The main living room and lower game room offer plenty of seating with sofas and chairs. The kitchen has all the amenities of home with nice tableware and an array of pots & pans for cooking. We also enjoyed the rocking chairs on the back deck. The king bed was fairly comfortable, and the kids said the upstairs queen and the bunks were great. The small chest of drawers in the master bedroom was helpful, and we used the tv rack to hang a few items since there is no closet here. I especially liked the handheld shower head (offered in both showers) with its multi spray options. Downstairs, all of the games were in working order, and the space heaters were perfect when the evenings turned cool. The hot tub was enjoyed by all as well. (a note to those looking for total seclusion in the hot tub - you have a direct view to the decks of the neighboring cabin, and vice versa, though partially obstructed by trees) We were given very detailed directions for getting to Little Bear, and we had no problems finding the cabin even in the dark! It is conveniently located just between Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg, taking us approximately 7 minutes to climb the mountain once we turned off of Hwy.441. The entire cabin has been thoughtfully & tastefully decorated. It is a true cabin with hardwood floors, walls, ceilings, stairways, and some other furnishings. With this is mind, the cabin is not quiet. Sound carries very well, even up the stairs. So if you wish to take a nap, you may need to make it a family affair:-) As a final note, you must take every effort necessary to secure the trash cans on the back deck. A mommy raccoon & her 3 big babies are very persistant (and smart)!

Owner response: Rebecca, Thank you for taking the time to offer prospective VRBO guest this comprehensive and thoughtful review of Little Bear Lodge Cabin. We are glad that you and your family enjoyed your stay and hope that you will come back and visit with us again at Little Bear Lodge or one of our other area cabins in the future.
We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin, the cabin is in a great location! When we arrived we were very impressed with how clean the cabin was. There were a few minor issues with the cabin as other reviewers have mentioned, but that is to be expected in a rental. It stormed one day during our vacation so the pool table really came in handy and saved us from being bored, we had to share one pool stick as the other was broken, but we didn't mind too much. Over all we were very happy with the cabin and would stay again!

Owner response: Thank you very much for taking the time to review our cabin. We are glad you and your family enjoyed your stay. I think we have added additional pool sticks since your stay. A previous guest had mentioned that there was only one good one. We hope that you will come back for another visit again in the future.
Too Much Fun
Too Much Fun
My husband and I and 3 adult "children" had the most memorable vacation of our lives at your wonderful cabin. The issues that the previous reviewer mentioned were a non-issue to us and any little glitches just added to the laughter and amazing memories. We did not come to Gatlinburg to stay in a 5 star hotel but to get the feeling of our natural surroundings and enjoy the beauty of the area. The cabin was most comfortable with plenty of room for each of us to have our own space and share a family atmosphere. The decor was true "Smokey Mountains". Even the local raccoons offered entertainment. The cabin was centrally located to everything and yet secluded. The owner was a jewel to communicate with and very concerned about our accommodations. Would we stay here again? Absolutely!

Owner response: Brenda, Thank you so much for your kind words. We are so happy that you and your family had a memorable Smoky Mountain experience while staying at Little Bear Lodge. We are glad that you appreciated the cabin for what it was. We always feel that there is room for improvement and we realize that we and the people that take care of Little Bear are not perfect but we do try very hard to make sure that everyone has an experience such as yours. I have passed your comments on to Mitzi and James. They will appreciate that you appreciate their hard work and effort. Please come and visit with us again.

Nice cabin for a short stay. Didn't like the master bedroom having no where to hang your clothes, the very small master bath, no water pressure in the master bath shower or the fact that the hot tub is on the lower deck. Privacy in the master bedroom is questionable! The window shades were way too small. I'm very glad I paid no more than 99 per night. 4pm is not a good check in time, either. Will not rent it again.

Owner response: We certainly appreciate feedback from our guest. We do everything we can to act on issues that are brought to our attention. This is the first I have heard about water pressure being low in the master bathroom. I will have maintenance check it out as soon as possible. I have stayed in the master and the blinds provided a good amount of privacy for my taste. I don't recall anyone ever mentioning this before but I will also have the maintenance person check this out as well. I am sorry that you did not like the location of the hot tub. I have never used it myself. I guess it would be more convenient on the upper deck but unfortunatly there isn't enough room up there. I am glad you appreciate the rate special that was offered. We try to keep our rates reasonable because we want familys to be able to come and enjoy the cabin and see what the area has to offer. We sincerely regret that you would not visit this cabin again. That is the last thing that we want to hear from a guest. We hope that you will reconsider or maybe visit one of our other cabins in the Sky Harbor area. Perhaps we have a different one that would better suit your needs. We strive for a five star review from all of our guest and when we fall short we do take your comments very seriously. Thank you for your rental.

We just arrived home from our stay in Little Bear Lodge. We had the best time!!! I agree with everything the prior review listed. The owner was a joy to work with and with excellent communication. There were issues with the game room area but it did not hinder our experience at all. Loved the suggestions listed prior also, we made the same comments about a dresser in the master bedroom. We also had the experience with the bear and raccoons....just added to the mountain experience. We are already making plans to go back in two years and including our daughter and her family there was so much room in this cabin. Can't wait to go back!!!! MW
