The Confederate Monument was completed in the spring of 1879 and is located in Forsyth Park. Although the lone figure of a proud yet beaten soldier stands atop this monument, it is truly a memorial to the hundreds of thousands of soldiers who gave their lives for the lost cause of the Confederate States. From about 1866 to 1872, women of the former Confederate states formed memorial associations in order to take responsibility for the decent and permanent interment of slain Confederate soldiers in cemeteries, where possible, and institutionalized annual memorial services, which consisted of decorating the graves with flowers....moreless

- Come create or view chalk art masterpieces on the sidewalks of Forsyth Park during SCAD's annual Sidewalk Arts Festival. The popular event, free and open to the public, features a chalk art competition, children's drawing areas for young artists, and food, drinks and music. Next event 4/27/2013. Forsyth Park is a 30 acre green space located in downtown Savannah. It was originally created in the 1840s on 10 acres of land donated by William Hodgson. In 1851, the park was expanded and named for Georgia Governor John Forsyth. By 1853, all original planned wards of Savannah were occupied and a large public park was added to the extreme south end of the city plan. This park was anticipated by General James Oglethorpe's plan and was made possible by a donation of 20 acres of land owned by Forsyth. The fountain at the north end of Forsyth Park was added in 1858 and is reminiscent of fountains in the Place de la Concorde in Paris and in Cuzco, Peru. At this time, Parisian urban planning was centered on the development of residential neighborhoods radiating out from a central green space. The Parisian model of developing large city parks was emulated by large cities in the United States, with even smaller cities, such as Savannah, asserting their own cosmopolitan image. Every St.Patricks Day the fountain is ceremoniously turned green in celebration of the Savannah's deep Irish heritage....moreless

We drove down from Atlanta to show our out of town relatives Savannah and Forsyth on the Green proved to be the perfect location! We were able to explore the city on foot and enjoy the farmer's market on Saturday that was right across the street (even in the cold winter!). Our twin 1-year old sons loved crawling up and down the beautiful wood floors and we loved that there was nobody in the condo below us so that we did not have to worry when they woke up in the middle of the night to cry. Only downside is that there are a lot of stairs, so seniors or people with a disability shouldn't stay here.

Owner response: Katie, I'm glad you had a wonderful time. Forsyth Park is an especially ideal location for families with small children because of the children's play area and large expanse of green space. So glad you discovered the Forsyth Farmer's Market which supports farmers and provides the community with fresh locally grown food. Looking forward to your next visit! Regards, Mark
We stayed for a Bachelorette party and had a blast! We slept nine comfortably without air mattresses. The owner is very friendly and helpful! The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because the place needed a detailed cleaning. It was by no means filthy, but "clean" dishes and utensils had food on them and my feet got dirty walking on the wood floors. Also, beware of the crazy neighbor and the 69096 flights of stairs, I left with a butt lift!

Owner response: Rebecca, I'm glad your bachelorette party went well. Due to the proximity to Forsyth Park and the Mansion, we host a large number of wedding related events. I appreciate your feedback. I'll personally check and attend to the dish situation. The dishwasher is relatively new but perhaps the filter needs attention. In our experience, dirty feet do not tend to come from the interior floors but rather the exterior porches that are exposed to the elements. Regardless, I'll provide feedback to our cleaning crew. As you have discovered, the vast majority of Savannah is incredibly friendly and open. Unfortunately, there are a few exceptions. I'm sorry you had that particular encounter. The unit is a 3rd floor walk-up unit. The property is not well suited for mobility challenged guests. Upon reaching the 3rd floor, the views are nice and guests can enjoy privacy. I look forward to your next visit! Regards, Mark

We stayed the weekend of the marathon. It was the perfect location. We never had to move our car, walked everywhere even to the grocery store. The weather was great to sit out and enjoy the park view. The owner is very detailed down to telling us how to work the ceiling fan in living room. Best vacation ever!!!!!

Wonderful Homey Place Away From Home
Wonderful Homey Place Away From Home
This condo suited our needs just perfectly - 3 friends (2 from Europe) in town for a wedding and roommate reunion from Geneva, Switzerland. We loved the spaciousness, openness, 3 large and comfortable bedrooms, 2 porches, fabulous and convenient location (1/2 block from the wedding reception at The Mansion), steps from Forsyth Park, 2 blocks from a supermarket, and easy walking access to the Historic District and all of downtown Savannah. A new glass shower unit was installed in the 2nd bathroom just before we rented it (replacing the claw foot bathtub) - it was very convenient and efficient to have 2 baths with showers - great addition! We felt totally at home in our vacation base away from home. Mark was very gracious, accommodating and hospitable in helping out when necessary. This is a special rental and I would recommend it highly and without hesitation to anyone considering it (we enjoyed the extra exercise to the 3rd floor!). We had a wonderful stay in the condo and loved our visit to Savannah. We hope to come back again sometime in the near future.

I loved our time in this rental. I got married in Savannah during this time and booked the property for my my groomsmen to have for the weekend and I slept in the property for one night. Overall the layout is great, very roomy! The check in and out process was very simple. The location was great and the amenities make it very much like being at home. I would definitely stay here again and my groomsmen and their significant others all loved the space and the convenience of being able to stay together in one location.

Charming Forsyth Park Condo
Charming Forsyth Park Condo
The house was fabulous for our little girls getaway. The beds and linens were very comfy and the space was very accommodating and spacious all around. Only pieces of feedback for guests to would be to make sure and bring your own toiletries. Outdoor patio and back deck. Great location near The Mansion and directly across from Forsyth Park, short walk into the heart of downtown. It was a wonderful stay, and we had one of the most fun weekends of all time! The house and Mark's kindness and flexibility definitely added to our experience. We love Savannah, definitely going back!

I wanted to write a better review because I get the feeling that the owner tries to be a really great host without actually being there. He's super responsive, has a great check in / check out instructions pamphlet (you'll see, it's super cute), and just seems really NICE. The house, however, was not really what I expected. I expected a newer home (which maybe was just wishful thinking on my part) with 2 usable bathrooms. This home is more of a 1.5 bath - one of the bathrooms only has a bathtub, so we all had to share 1 bathroom to shower. That being said, the home was clean, and does have everything you need. The location is also literally right on Forsyth Park, although trees blocked our view of the park. We also ended up driving to the downtown area instead of walking, since the home is still about a mile+ away. .

Owner response: Maggie, Thanks for your feedback. By definition, homes in a historic district tend to be older. The property was constructed 1905 with the most recent renovation performed in 2011. Our first bathroom has a combo bath/shower. At the time of your stay, our second bathroom was equipped with an antique claw foot bathtub which had a certain aesthetic appeal. However, I agree that practicality outweighs aesthetics. The tub was removed and replaced with a new corner shower. Please browse our photos to see our latest upgrade. Forsyth Park has a tree line planted on the entire exterior boundary that has grown over many decades. The third floor balcony offers a wonderful people watching perch. It is also a fine place to take in a beverage and occasionally take in the sounds of a concert from the nearby Forsyth Park band shell. The condo is located at the southern end of Savannah's historic district. The northern end is ~1.1 miles away. The majority of our guests park and never move their car until departure. A historic stroll down Bull Street provides an opportunity to take in the historic architecture and charm of this southern gem. For those times when walking is not viable, DOT offers a fare-free transportation in downtown Savannah with a pickup point conveniently located two blocks from the condo (reference Forsyth Park stop E9 on the ConnectOnTheDOT website). Regards, Mark
We had a wonderful time at the home. It was in a great location and convenient to many places of interest. The patio was nice and overlooked Forsyth Park. There are 3 flights of stairs to climb, but it wasn't bad at all, although some visitors may need to be aware. We would definitely stay here again!

Owner response: Kami - so glad you had a wonderful time! The property is centrally located and convenient to so much that Savannah has to offer. A 3rd floor walk-up unit would be a challenge to mobility impaired guests. The sense of privacy and enjoyment of the balcony overlooking Forsyth Park makes the climb worthwhile! We look forward to seeing you on your next visit.
My family and I spent 3 wonderful nights here. Proximity to everything was perfect. Looking forward to another visit to Savannah and will definitely be staying here again.

Fabulous place to stay
Fabulous place to stay
We were here for my daughter's wedding at the Mansion and this townhouse could not have been any more perfect. The stairs could be a problem if you are out of shape but we had no issues. The owners are easily reached if there are any problems. We didn't read directions and therefore couldn't find the key at first. We called and they responded within 5 - 10 minutes. I highly recommend this place b/c it is central to anything in Old Town Savannah. Easily walked from here to River Street in 20 minutes. We were lazy and went to the Cafe in the park each morning for coffee and a bagel.

Owner response: Pegi, We're so glad you had a wonderful vacation at Forsyth on the Green! Thanks for your feedback. Our proximity to the Mansion (1 block north) is a major convenience for many of our guests. The condo is a 3rd floor walk-up unit and may not be suitable for mobility challenged guests. The location is awesome as I truly love Forsyth Park and its easy convenience to the Victorian and Historic Savannah districts. I haven't yet visited the Forsyth Cafe as I've been partial to my old love Sentient Bean at the south end of the park. Please visit us again!

The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Forsyth is Savannah's own Central Park and the site of numerous year-round festivites and events. The convenience of the property to Forsyth Park cannot be overstated.
