Map & Owner's Profile
Texas Medical Center, Downtown, Museums, Rice, Greenway Plaza
Year Purchased: 1978
Why the Owner Chose Houston
This is a very interesting neighborhood. It began in the 19th century. The first "neighborhood" outside of downtown Houston. Houston is a city without zoning so there is a grand mixture of museums, universities, a world-class zoo, grand old homes ranging from the original farm houses, old mansions to new MacMansions. the world renowned Texas Medical Center, Major Sports Teams -- all within a three mile radius of each other! This is a very tolerant, open, neighborhood. We have rich, poor, old, young, straight, gay. The New York Times wrote an article some years ago on Houston's Montrose, which, loosely put, said that if everyone was like Montrose, we'd have no wars.
The Unique Benefits at this Bed & Breakfast
Proximity to a lot of action. Downtown, Galleria, Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Natural Science, Libraries, Universities, Texas Medical Center, Houston Zoo, Restaurants, Clubs, Alley Theatre, Opera, Ballet, etc. Robin's Nest is in very unique homes, c. 1898, 1920 and 1938. Great breakfast. Great staff. We welcome well behaved pets and children.
We are adjacent to downtown Houston. We're about a mile from City Hall, which is in the center of downtown.
We're five miles north of Reliant Park. Light Rail goes directly to Reliant Park from Robin's Nest.
Revealing the horror of, and the Honoring of, our Jewish brothers and sisters of World War II.
Magnet High School across the street from the Bed and Breqakfast.
Owner's Map of Houston
Robin bought the 1898 Victorian in 1978 as rental property. She converted it to a bed and breakfast in 1990. She began with one room in the Victorian. She now has three historical houses (the second and third being 1920 and 1938) setting side by side, totaling nine rooms, suites and/or apartments. On reviews, she's no. 1 on the leading bed and breakfast website; and no. 2 on TripAdvisor (soon to be no. 1)
Returning to Houston in 1970 having resigned the Foreign Service shortly before. she had tours in Brazil, France, Belgium and North Africa. Her Portuguese and French is rusty but still somewhat operable.
Robin's Nest has a dedicated staff who enjoy the guests as much as Robin does. A house full of great cooks. Our breakfasts consistently rank very high in reviews. Come see us in the heart of Houston: a very interesting part of town with museums, the zoo, art galleries, libraries (the arts as well as traditional), the theatre; varied, casual to starred, restaurants. A good walking neigbhorhood. We happily accept well behaved pets and children.

We have stayed now , twice, at Robin's Nest. We are from Ontario, Canada and have a son and granddaughter in Houston. This has been the most wonderful place to stay while visiting our family. Our pet, Kenzie loves it as well. Robin and everyone are so friendly, helpful and accommodating....perfect hosts! The breakfasts are scrumptious. The atmosphere is relaxed. We feel so very comfortable staying at Robin's Nest. We've met so many interesting people and had great conversations over breakfast. We love the eclectic feel and look. There are so many nearby attractions, restaurants within walking distance...eg...the museum district. It's a great location to experience downtown Houston. Rooms are clean and well maintained and the pics you see are accurate in their reflection. Very highly recommended ! We always look forward to our next visit.
Owner response: One of the great benefits of a bed and breakfast such as Robin's Nest is that you're never alone except when you want to be. We always have such interesting people at table, such as this couple. And we're already waiting for their, and Kinsey's (the dog) return. Has she grown! Robin @ Robin's Nest

I found Robins Nest when I needed to find temporary lodging for my relocation to Houston. Robin's "Linda Lee" was the answer to our prayers. A modernized two bedroom apartment, with storage and a small one-car garage - and an actual YARD for my dog was a life saver. Robin had a reasonable pet policy and truly was a joy to work with. She had a couple weekends already rented, but accommodated us by moving us to the big house and allowing us a storage area to store our stuff and save work for us. Full beautiful breakfasts every weekend morning and a great variety of other guests to visit from all over the world made our stay really interesting. If you're looking for accommodations close to the museums, great restaurants, grocery stores and nestled right near downtown, Robin's Nest is the place!
Owner response:Thank you, Cathi. You, Trent, Chester, and Kitty are a delight and a true asset to anyone you happen to run into you. I'm so glad you've found your own "Nest" in Houston -- great house. I appreciate your taking the time from your busy schedule to give Robin's Nest a good review. Anything I can do for you in Houston, just call. I hope to see you from time to time. Best, Robin, staff, the dogs and the cats.
