The chalet near Black Mtn, Asheville, NC was more than what we expected! The house is spacious and very clean. Everything we needed for our week long stay was available. We were a group of 9 people and there was ample of room with plenty of linen and towels. The owner was very helpful with any questions we had and addressed any of our concerns immediately. Plus, the views are truely spectacular! We had a great time at the chalet and would highly recommend this place to our friends and family!

New Year's Eve in the Mountains

Myself and 15 of my friends from around the country met here to spend the week before New Year's Eve together. The house suited our group of adults perfectly. We loved having two kitchens because there were a lot of cooks in our group. As the other reviewers mentioned, the pictures provided don't do the house justice - to me there was a perfect amount of small decorations with plenty of room to make ourselves comfortable. We were all truly able to make this OUR home for a week - even turned the dining room into a dance floor to celebrate the new year :) There was lots of extra bedding, sheets, and towels and the kitchens were WELL stocked with utensils and cookware. The view from the living room (even in winter) was breathtaking. I also can't say enough about the owner of the home - she went above and beyond to stay in touch with me before and during the rental period and our trip wouldn't have been the same without her help and quick responses to our questions. To anyone staying in this home, I would recommend a trip into Black Mountain. Lots of cute shops in the downtown area and the restaurant "Black Bird" is perfect for adults who love great, local food. Make as many trips into Asheville as possible and eat at the LAB if you love gastropubs and amazing micro-brewed beer. There is also a small brewery about a mile away from the bottom of the mountain called the Pisgah Brewing Company. They have some pretty great micro-brews (which they sell by the growler if you want) and open up the big doors of the pub in the spring and summer for outdoor seating and concerts at a wood stage they recently built. I've visited the Asheville areas and the towns surrounding it many times and stayed in many rental homes there - this is certainly one of the best. I absolutely loved the location because it was far enough away from the cities and other neighbors, without being inaccessible. The area around the home is beautiful to walk around during the day and perfect for star gazing at night. I can't wait to stay here again and would absolutely recommend it to those looking for a mountain getaway.

Thanks so much for providing such a beautiful and wonderfully cared-for home for our vacation/family reunion in August. Everything was clean and comfortable at the house. There were 10 of us, ranging in age from 66 to 4. There was plenty of room for all, and we were able to spend as much, or as little, time together as we wanted. We had wonderful family dinners in the dining room, cooked out nightly and spent lots of time on the porch, rocking and watching the stars, including a meteor shower one night. Also saw lots of turkeys, rabbits, deer and a few bear. The music of the owls, the crickets and the cicadas at night was a refreshing respite from the city noise we are used to. We are really glad we decided to stay in Black Mountain. The mountains were just breathtaking. We loved Black Mountain itself, with its many cool shops and restaurants. It was also great to visit nearby Montreat and have easy access to places like Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Asheville and Greenville. We really couldn't have asked for anything more. It was just about a perfect vacation. We can't wait to come back. David Geary, Brooklyn, NY and the Henry and Ploof families of North and South Carolina

Hey - I was pleasently suprised with this mountain chalet upon arrival. The rooms were spacious and well decorated, the two kitchens stocked with everything I could possibly need and what was the hit of the trip was the rocking chairs on the porch. I think there were 8 but there could have been more and we spent most of our nights rocking in the chairs enjoying the beautiful setting and spending time together. Our family is a bit large and the home worked great for us. We look forward to visiting again sometime!

The house is absolutely gorgeous. Tons of room and sleeping space. The fireplace is beautiful and a fantastic warm spot on a chilly night. The views from the living room were absolutely breath-taking at both sunrise and sunset. The screened in patio and jacuzzi are extremely relaxing. An absolute must-stay if you're planning a trip to Black Mountain.

The Chateaux Wood Haven was absolutely amazing. Pictures alone do not do this place justice. The views were stunning! I would recommend this rental to any large group looking for a house away from it all. I hope to get back soon!

This was an absoutly amazing home to stay in. My family and I gathered here for a long awaited family reunion. We had people ranging in ages from 80 to 3. The elderly and disabled were able to stay in one general area with out having to travel up and down stairs through out the weekend, which was the most welcomed part of this home. The younger group were able to have their own area for late night socializing with out bothering anyone. The only fall back that we had were the directions to the home (which you should expect if you dont know the area), the aweful steep driveway and there was not a lot of table space. We were able to work with what we had perfectly. We were even able to park 7-8 cars without any problems. I do not recommend anyone that drives a 5 speed to attempt this driveway. The property was well maintained, clean and crisp. The rooms were spacious, the view was breathtaking. The description was acurate and very accomodating for our needs. The BEST part of this home, it was pet friendly. We all agreed that we would stay here again if we ever wanted to come back and we would recommed it to anyone else.
