The clarity of light and vast landscapes of Abiquiu have drawn artists and seekers over the ages.
Just east of Abiquiu this enchanting adobe and stone house on 23 acres overlooking Abiquiu Valley has vistas with extraordinary sunsets and sunrises. Cerro Pedernal and Polvadera Peak crown the Jemez Mountains to the south, nearby Sierra Negra dominates the north, and in the distant east the Sangre de Cristo mountains between Santa Fe and Taos present their snow-white tops for at least six months of the year.
The "Abiquiu House", built by owner Pat Frazier in 1994 as the first vacation home in the Abiquiu area, is beautifully appointed. Its round design creates an intimate space and warm environment. Of course the flagstone radiant in-floor heat, the adobe fireplace, and the outdoors hot tub help. In hotter months the adobe and stone walls keep the house amazingly cool. A ton of Mexican tile add character, as do the flagstone ceilings. The covered portal offers an enjoyable breakfast nook.
While working at the Restore for Habitat for Humanity, Pat collected lots of wonderful recycled items to add charm to her creation. It is her hope and intention that the peaceful sanctuary she created will rejuvenate many who want to share northern New Mexico’s Magical Land.
The fully equipped "Abiquiu House", with kitchen / dining, one bedroom with queensize feather bed, single sleeper sofa, and full bathroom can be "enlarged" for two more guests. Nearby is Amelia, the Vintage Airstream, an authentic little home on wheels from 1960, a cozy yet comfortable getaway also with spectacular views (see listing #106708).
Each year during Columbus Day weekend in October, Abiquiu has its annual Abiquiu Studio Tour. About 60 artists open up their studio's and share their art with visitors of the area. During that weekend the fall colors are abundant.

My husband and I have stayed at Abiquiu House many times. Finding this place was like a dream come true. Charming doesn't even begin to describe it. We love the peace and quiet and the beautiful views. We mostly come to Abiquiu House for r&r...sitting by the fireplace reading a good book, taking naps, star gazing at night, watching the sunsets, but there are lots of activities in the area for those who want to be active. We've enjoyed hiking at Ghost Ranch and kayaking on Abiquiu Lake (we brought our kayaks with us). A thoroughly enjoyable experience. We anxiously await every visit.

I stayed in the Abiquiu House two years in a row. The location is great, not far from Georgia O'Keefe's House, Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu Lake, Plaza Blanca, and Oje Caliente. Abiquiu House was clean, well appointed and well equiped. The washer and dryer are a real plus. The table outside is perfect for watching the sunset or eating a meal and the hot tub great for stargazing. The windows of Abiquiu House are frames for beautiful views of the mountains. Great place to stay!
