  • Gorgeous views, spacious and wonderful service!

"Casa Luz is situated overlooking your own personal jungle! Every room has a view better than the next! We spotted a sloth, toucans and a monkey in the trees and enjoyed a symphony of birds every morning on the deck. Our boys, 13 and 16, loved the pool and all of the adventure activities Natalia arranged for us (Catamaran, Mangroves, Ziplining to name a few). We had a wonderful meal prepared for us the first night (for the same price as a meal in town) and ate leftovers much of the week. There is a little store just outside your driveway gates for the basics and many tours provide a typical Costa Rican meal. We enjoyed El Avion and Victoria's for dinner, but there are many choices we weren't able to visit this time. We would strongly suggest renting a car with a GPS (programmed for Costa Rica). We drove and navigated our way to many places quite easily, despite some roads being quite bumpy. While many people did walk to restaurants, etc. from this home--it was at least 1/2-3/4 mile to the main road with no shoulder. Locals seemed very accustomed to this, but we were happy to have a car. Take the time to visit places off the beaten path-- our visit to RainMaker was one of our favorite days. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of our home and Manuel Antonio. It isn't fancy or brand new, but there is definite pride in ownership and we had everything we needed for our stay. The people, especially Natalia, were gracious and accommodating and truly lived up to the motto--Pura Vida!!!"

  • Beautiful Place to Relax in Tambor

"This was our second 2 week trip to Tambor, Costa Rica. We were 2 couples. The weather of course was absolutely beautiful. We were 2 couples and stayed in the Casita at the back of the property beside the beautiful refreshing pool. The landscaping is breathtaking! Property owner has done a fabulous job! The beach is just a 1 minute walk from the door, we enjoyed morning or late afternoon walks on the beach when the temperature and sun were a little less hot. You can walk for miles. The homeowners were there during our stay and were extremely accommodating and helpful to provide information and assistance when asked regarding contacts for tours, best places to shop for groceries, etc. We had a car which we would recommend but not a definite necessity, as you could book local excursions in Tambor which is a 5 minute walk from the property. There is also a small grocery store located in Tambor, as well as several restaurants which are all within walking distance. If you intend to consume alcohol, we strongly suggest you purchase it at the duty free shop prior to leaving the San Jose airport, as it is a lot cheaper there. Accommodations were very clean and well kept. The casita is not equipped with air conditioning, however, all rooms are equipped with ceiling fans (including the outdoor eating area) and we found this to be sufficient (at least during the month of February). The kitchen was well equipped and had all the necessities. It was a good location to go out on day trips to Montezuma, Mal Pais and Cobano. Lots of Howler monkeys and Macaws can be seen (and heard!) around the property. The property backs onto the main road used to travel from the ferry in Paquera to Malpais, Cobano and Montezuma. The only negative feature was that sometimes vehicular traffic could be a little loud early in the morning and late at night when vehicles were passing through coming or going to catch the ferry. The annual rodeo was on in Cobano during our stay which more than likely added to the volume of traffic during our stay. After a couple of nights when we got totally relaxed and into vacation mode, we seemed to tune this out! If you're looking for a very relaxing and slower paced place to stay away from the busier populated areas such as Montezuma and Malpais, this is the perfect spot! We will definitely be returning!"

  • Phenomenal Vacation at a spectacular location

"We were a family of 8 travelling from Canada... 4 daughters aged 12 to 23, son-in-law and boyfriend, plus my wife and I. Everything about the trip was fantastic. The listing was not accurate....because the pictures don't do it justice! Unbelievable size, layout, comfort, etc. and what a view. The monkeys came by most days and the weather was perfect. Absolutely perfect. We were very comfortable with 8 people ...and there was room for more. Alex is excellent in his organizing of all our activities. We tried the horse back riding, repelling, national park tour and catamaran sail. All highly recommended. He organizes for pick up and drop off at the front door. Local restaurants were excellent too. Although cab drivers told us the walk to the beach was either "too long or too dangerous (due to traffic)", we walked it every day without problem. It was a great way to get some exercise after spending a day at the beach. Another thing Alex did was organize an on-site meal provided by a local chef (Kukula?). It was one of the best meals we have ever had, and we do a lot of travelling. We didn't rent a car, as the local grocery store was within walking distance, as were the restaurants, and we didn't mind the 20 minute walk to the beach. We flew to San Jose, and Alex organized the 2 1/2 trip for pick up and drop off at the end of the stay. The house was cleaned every day (we didn't realize that), and there are laundry facilities on site. We definitely over-packed. This is a flip flop and short/swim suit vacation. We didn't need to wear a sweater at any time during our stay. We will go back and I recommend this for families, couples, etc. The only caution I would have is for those with small children. The building code is no where near the restrictions that we have in Canada, and as such, the area around the main floor, infinity pool and stairs may be a safety hazard for small children. For adults, it adds to the beauty of this spectacular place! A+++++ and a 12 on a 1-10 scale. Truly spectatular."

  • Wonderful home away from home in paradise

"Our family was lucky enough to have stayed at Casa Escondida for three months. We loved the home for many reasons; the house is airy and spacious, with a breath taking view of the beautifully manicured garden and back yard. Our daughter loved spending time outside exporing the trees and fauna. We would wake up everyday to the birds singing, toucans and parrots visiting the mammoth trees outside, and the general serene and quiet of the home. Although it is completely quiet and private, there are neighbours and Ricardo (the caretaking) close by and we always felt safe. The house has a fully equipped kitchen, fantastic yard and hammocks, and is maintained by a warm and wonderful staff to ensure that it is in beautiful condition. Casa Escondida is about 1 mile away from Playa Hermosa, which a beautiful beach known as one of the best surfing beaches. We enjoyed sunsets there and watching the weekly surf competitions. The Casa is a close 10 minute drive to Jaco beach which provides all the ammeneties we were looking for (including a farmers market and many restaurants/bars/stores), but it felt miles away from the crowds of Jaco. We also loved driving to the quiet and calm beaches of Playa Esterillos, which are about a 15 minute drive from the Casa. We would love to stay here again! Highly recommended for those seeking adventure and for anyone looking to truly relax and be away from it all. Pura Vida!"
