Recent Grassy Key reviews

  • Great winter get away

"We truly enjoy our stay in Grassy Key. The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable. The outside area was neat and very tropical the gas grills were very nice. Hans the owner was quick to answer our request for available dates. We have already made plans for 2016 in Grassy Key."

  • Perfect Christmas Vacation

"Our family of 4, including 2 college age children, spent 2 wonderful weeks over the Christmas Holiday at White Sands. We all absolutely loved it! We had never vacationed in the Florida Keys and didn't know for sure if we would like not having the typical beach scene. But, being outdoorsy type people who enjoy kayaking, fishing and boating, White Sands was a perfect fit for us. There are 4 kayaks at the home that we used to kayak over to the mangrove coves just around the corner to the left off of the dock. We caught snappers that we fixed for lunch almost on a daily basis. In the mangrove cove, we also saw several sharks, sting rays, tarpons, iguanas and tons of different kinds of birds. Plus, the kayaks are great to take out and get just past the tree/coast line and watch the sunset. AMAZING! One night while watching the sunset, a huge sea turtle swam up to us. The other outside amenities are equally as pleasing. The pool was heated and was a great way to spend afternoons around. The hammock was fought over daily as to who would be taking their afternoon nap in it. Plus, the deck was our go to spot for breakfast and also evening wine down time. Also, many great moments were spent hanging out or fishing off of the dock. It's incredible the amount of fish and variety of fish that are around the dock. We saw spotted rays, barracudas, puffer fish, lobsters and sharks from the dock. Plus, you can't beat the afternoon sun on the dock. Inside was just as perfect. The kitchen is designed to allow multiple cooks prepping at once with plenty of stocked cooking equipment. The view from the dining room table was unbeatable. And, the bed in the master bedroom was more comfortable than our own at home beside the spa like bathroom. We have already booked it for next year and can't wait to go back!"

  • This is the place to stay in the Keys

"This glass house is a magnificent place to stay to explore the Keys. One can wake up and drink coffee with water views all around. Take the kayaks and canoe and explore what we have dubbed Draper Bay to get up close to the tall white egrets and magnicent mangroves. Or stroll through the private acreage to take a swim in the saltwater of the quarry. One can also charter a motorboat as we did that you can tie up to the dock after exploring the gorgeous undersea world of Sombrero Reef. We also circumnavigated Marathon Key from the Atlantic Ocean back into the Gulf. Great restaurants are to be found nearby but the best place to eat was in this home watching the breathtaking sunsets with fresh grilled fish, veggies and key lime pie. A day trip to Key West is fun if one has never seen the Hemingway House or Truman's "White House" or experienced the street performers on Mallory Square before the sunset. The best part of the day is returning to this home which is like a private resort. Thanks also to the caretaker, Adahlia, who was so welcoming and but a phone call away for any questions. We have already recommended this house to our friends and relatives."

  • Simply beautiful and everything we had hoped for!

"From the time we booked this vacation until the time we left, my family had a great experience. The communication with property managers was always prompt and informative. The house itself had it all - great area, great dock (with all the necessary fishing amenities - all in great shape); the pool and hot tub provided a great place for us to soak and have fun! The owners and property manager clearly take pride in this property; the rooms are decorated beautifully. The kitchen was beyond expectations - you would be hard pressed to think of something it didn't have!! Great quality throughout - the appliances - the furniture, etc. Newly remodeled bathrooms were fabulous! The screened in porch provided us a place to gather for relaxation and conversation - we had no worries about bugs. Fishing off the dock we caught many fish - several varieties - we also saw lobster at the end of the dock! No wonder this property has such great reviews - it has earned them! Kayaks and bikes on site - pool table - something for everyone! The attention to detail here is apparent. We would love to come back to La Casa Habana again. Our vacation was stellar - in large part due to our experience here. Thank you!!"
