After a busy day exploring Torquay, imagine returning to your holiday home and sitting out on the terrace watching the sun set over the sea with a glass of bubbly. Well at The Downs, you can do!

A beautiful French-style double bed and chandelier make this cosy studio apartment the ideal spot for a romantic break away. What’s more, Babbacombe’s beach is just across the road.

The living area is open plan with the dining and bedroom areas, and it leads out onto that wonderful terrace so you can lie in bed and watch the waves crash about in the distance. The kitchen has all the essentials you need, but with a wide variety of restaurants in the area you could easily eat out every night instead! Or why not get some traditional fish and chips and dine out on the terrace and enjoy people watching?

Torquay is a traditional seaside resort where you will find plenty of attractions to keep you busy. Take a ride on the English Riviera Wheel, watch the penguins play at Living Coasts or take a boat over to Brixham. If all that exploring has tired you out, take a short walk to the nearest pub for a relaxing drink, just 150 yards away.

We have been a couple of times and it’s been perfect the addition of the new smart tv and air fryer is great and makes it even better.The owners are very welcoming and went out of their way to provide some little extras thank you we will definitely be booking again

LOVELY PLACE IN BABBERCOMBE BAY

Firstly I have to say the property itself (self catering apartment in block of 6) is beautiful with a lovely verandah overlooking Downs and Sea. However before we arrived we hadn't received the code for the keys (I believe this was Cottages.com's fault and from what I am reading we are lucky we had a holiday!!) luckily I rang the owner and he gave it to me. Secondly the listing for this property was slightly incorrect but not necessarily the fault of the advertiser. The Cafe under this property is not a Cafe its a restaurant and is not open from 9am to 5pm its open from 9am to 10.30pm and more some nights!! However I will say that due to Governments new policy on 50% off meals on Mon to Wed this apparently was the reason they stayed open however we found out that they are always open friday and saturdays late!!! It does not mention this in the criteria and although due to Government offer the only night it didn't open late was Sunday evening. Now this didn't spoil our holiday however we get up early and go to bed early so sometimes it was quite noisy in fact very noisy on some occasions because it was very warm in apartment we couldn't really have windows and doors open until everyone under us had gone home! This may have altered our original booking had we been aware but having said that we loved our holiday and cannot fault the beautiful location and views. One small point re apartment everything was there you could need except a bread knife!!!! LOL! We did struggle without it for the gorgeous bread we bought but managed as you do! Also I think the advert could have given more information as to what was available in the apartment as I brought stuff which we didn't need to!!! The bed was awesome!!!!!!!

Apartment was very comfortable and surprisingly spacious. Kitchen had everything you would need. Babbacombe hideaway

This is a lovely appartment, nice and cosy. Close to shops, pubs, bus stop. Great views. Nice & quiet this time of year (jan). Kitchen could do with potato peeler, colander/sieve. Steamer for microwave (I purchased one, very handy) . Linen is changed. would recommend.

Great location and really nice accommodation with a wonderful view. Gluten free fish and chips a two minute walk away and plenty of other nice eating places close by. Local mussels are delicious.
