Large center peninsula that seats 3-4. Additional breakfast area seats 4-6. Separate dining room in sun room seats 6-8. French door leads to deck with outdoor table and seating for 6-8. Stone patio with gas fire pit offers cozy seating for 12. From 2-car driveway, step up to the side deck to enter large laundry room with powder room. Outdoor shower conveniently located on side deck.
SECOND FLOOR: Three bedrooms. Large master bedroom offers king bed, sitting area, walk-in closet, flat-screen TV with cable and streaming services, private bath. Loved this house!

We had an amazing 4 night stay at Cheryl and Peter's place in October and we were so so happy with everything! The house is immaculate and has so many great amenities! (Think three different coffee maker options and more!) The house also is the perfect walking distance to town and to our favorite sandwich place! We were sad we couldn't stay longer! Hope to be back again!

Cheryl your home is a DREAM

I can’t say enough about this property. Starting with Cheryl - we had a large group traveling to the island for our wedding. It was nearly impossible to find a home that fit us all comfortably on the dates we needed. Cheryl was beyond accommodating and made sure to make it work for us. The home is exactly how it is photographed. It’s clean , cozy but perfect for large groups , we had every room filled and it never once felt like we were on top of each other. We will absolutely be staying here again in the future! If you are considering this home, DO IT. It’s the perfect Nantucket dream house :)

The Most Beautiful Home

My friends and sisters and I stayed here for a girls weekend and the home was breathtaking! I’ve never been inside such a lovely and well decorated home. There were 9 of us and we had plenty of room. The house was well stocked with everything that we could possibly need. The location of the house was also great and we could easily walk down town and to the beach. Cheryl made the check in and check out process so easy and she answered any questions that we had. I highly recommend staying here!

What a wonderful week! Cheryl and Peter were such attentive and accommodating hosts. They were flexible with our check in and check out times which was so helpful traveling with small kids. Peter even came to the house himself midweek to fix the TV when the cable went out so my nephew could watch the Rays v Yankees! The house was perfect in every way with a lovely layout for multiple families. It was an easy walk to town and jetties or Children’s beach. We loved grilling every night. Perfect in every way!!

8 Derrymore is exactly as it’s pictured and more! Beautifully decorated, but super comfortable. It was perfect for our family and guests. There was everything we needed for cooking big meals; plenty of beach chairs, comfortable beds with plush linens and towels. The master suite is luxurious - we hated to leave. Peter and Cheryl are top- notch hosts and made sure everything was perfect.

This property is a dream house. It’s looks like a magazine home, but it’s also super comfortable. Cheryl and Peter attended to every detail. It’s clear that they use the house, unlike some other rental properties which have bare bones furnishings and amenities. I can’t wait to come back!

The house that was perfectly laid out, tidy, organized, labeled, bright, fully stocked.

I loved this house. We were two families; myself and my twin and our families) with children. We also had our parents visit for a few days. The way the house is laid out really accommodated the privacy factor yet the common space invited lots of together time. Everything was labeled for easy use and the kitchen and bathrooms were fully stocked. Bed were extremely comfortable and the bathrooms were spa like. The property owners were very thoughtful with a welcome packet. You really felt like they were proud of their house and so happy to share it with you. I give this house a double thumbs up and will DEFINATELY rent again if they will have us.

We just enjoyed a wonderful week in Nantucket. The highlight was getting to spend it with our family in this lovely home. The kids enjoyed the upstairs bedroom/game room and the entire family enjoyed the family spaces including the back patio, outdoor dining and seating area and barbecue. Fine linens and towels were a really nice touch. Located on a nice quiet street yet still an easy walk to town. Perfect!

This property is an elegant oasis. We were so impressed with the owner's instruction manual for us and we fully understood how to operate all appliances, smart TV's, windows, etc. This home is equipped with the best of the best of everything!!! The location is within walking distance to the downtown area and several beaches. Whenever I had a question, a reply was sent to me within minutes from the owners. They thought of everything including a full service coffee bar, reading glasses, USB charger for your cell phones and other electronics, wine refrigerator, detergents, beach towels and chairs, extra gas for the grill and fire pit and the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in. We had a full house including a 13 month old and 2 teenagers occupying every bedroom and never felt crowded. The outdoor patio and dining areas were a favorite spot and well used. Peter and Cheryl Barnes, who were married in Nantucket, are the authors of the island's favorite children's book, “Nat, Nat the Nantucket Cat" -- the inspiration for the name of their home - and other books. It all started in 1992, with the story of a wild cat named Willie who lived on Straight Wharf. Peter was a Washington-based journalist whose parents had moved to Nantucket in the 1970s. At Mitchell’s Book Corner one day, he noticed there were no children's books about Nantucket. He proposed to Cheryl that they write "Nat, Nat," and a year later, the book was in local stores--and a bestseller. “It's so gratifying to see our books and characters come to life for families," Peter and Cheryl said. As an author/illustrator team, they have produced more than a dozen more children's titles. The Barnes's have two children and four grandchildren who love Nantucket as much as they do.

Why they chose this property

It is located on a quiet, safe street off North Liberty, approximately midway between Cliff Road and West Chester Street. Great for families. Town is a short 10-minute walk, with access to all of Nantucket's wonderful shops, restaurants and activities. Steps Beach is a 10-minute walk across Cliff Road, and Jetties Beach, with outdoor dining and public tennis courts, is an easy 15-minute walk. The Westmoor Club and Something Natural are around each corner. The property is in a great location for people who like to bike, with the Cliff Road bike path around the corner. Nantucket's network of other bike paths are easy accessible as well. Public golf courses are short drives away, as are Nantucket's natural sites.

The house offers every amenity, and enjoy a stroll to town, with its wide range of restaurants, art galleries, shops, museums and other attractions. Jetties Beach, which is great for families, is a short walk, drive or bike ride, as is Children's Beach. Other popular beaches are a quick drive.
