View the lake and beach from the screened porch of mid-century, 2 bd cottage
You'll love the short walk from 'The Palace' to our white sandy beach on Long Pond, one of Southeastern Massachusetts' pristine glacial lakes. This rustic summer cottage is tucked into a pine woodland and sits on a hill just above the large beach. The beach which is semiprivate, has a dock a floating raft and tons of sand - perfect for building sandcastles. The gradual entrance into the water is great for young children.
The Palace offers accommodations for up to six people. There are two bedrooms, one with a queen bed, and one with one double and two twins. The galley kitchen has plenty of cooking utensils and dishes. The screened porch is set up for dining alfresco while enjoying a great view of Long Pond.
Perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, a week at the Palace offers an old-fashioned style family vacation.
You can enjoy quiet morning strolls along woodland paths and refreshing daily swims while remaining surprisingly close to many popular Massachusetts destinations. Long Pond has clean, clear water with a sandy bottom and is great for small craft boating. There is a public boat ramp that accommodates small boats. Kayaks and sailboats are perfect. For over 60 years, the pond residents have raced antique sail boats on Saturday and Sunday afternoons in July and August. Fishermen love Long Pond which the state stocks with trout and salmon each Spring and Fall.
Explore miles of sandy country roads and trails that run through conservation land, cranberry bogs and along the shores of three nearby ponds.
The cottage is next to Pinewoods Camp, a folk dance and music camp. You can hear the music wafting through the woods and on selected Sunday nights, can participate in the evening folk dance program.
Four generations of our family have vacationed on this property for over seventy years. We have worked hard to preserve its natural, rustic character and the unique old-fashioned nature of the structures.

About Susan Conant
The Conant family has been summering on Long Pond for four generations. It is currently owned and managed by 5 siblings -- the grandchildren of Dick and Lily Conant who stewarded this land for many years.
Susan Conant purchased this Cottage in 1920
Why Susan Conant chose Plymouth
The property sits next to Pinewoods Camp, a dance and music camp for adults and families. Lily Conant helped Helen Storrow establish the camp way back in the early 20th century. Mrs Storrow left the property to Lily who managed for many years. The camp was split off into a not-for-profit when our dad and his sisters inherited it. We have worked hard to keep our family compound as rustic and beautiful as it was when we were growing up. Our five siblings and our children have spent some time during every one of their summers on this land.
What makes this Cottage unique
We love the rustic pathways (we know every root and bend), the tall trees and it's particular smell of pine and pond water. This is where we all learned how to swim, how to handle a canoe and sailboat, how to walk around the woods at night, and how to live simply on this beautiful property.

Perfect spot for quality time with friends or family in nature.
We loved the Palace! Susan and her brothers were available for advice and history on the area. The pond is a quiet special place. We took advanatage of the nearby trails and paddling on the pond - we enjoyed seeing the cranberry bogs, an eagle, an endangered red bellied turtle, herons, swans, rainbows... We were a group of old friends looking for a special weekend together and we got it 10 fold!
Perfect weekend vacation
We had our wedding in Sandwich this weekend, and decided to stay in the area with the family for the weekend. We rented the Palace and a few other cabins owned by Susan, which were all wonderful and clean cabins with gorgeous views of Long Pond. Great for swimming, canoeing and hiking in the area.
A nice cozy place for family vacation
We rented the place last summer for our family vacation. I just remember to write a review for it when I am looking for a summer rental this year in Halifax Canada.. Anyway, this is a real gem. The water is very clear and calm, great for my three year old. The owner left kayaks and life jackets for us to use. The house is very child friendly. There are bunch of toys and children's books. The owner also provided a crib for my one year old. My mom also went with us. She enjoyed the quite scenery very much, and she loved the swing couch on the porch. She and my daughter bonded there a lot. We also invited our friends over for a lunch at the beach. They enjoyed the kayak and their son played with ours on the beach. I am so glad that we had this precious summer vacation.
Thanks for your kind review of our cottage. We love to hear about the special family memories from folks who have stayed in our cottages and cabins. Our family has been taking care of the property for four generations. Its a labor of love for us. Part of our reward is knowing that we provide folks with the simple pleasures of an old-fashioned lakeshore vacation.
Rustic and Fun
The cottage and property are lovely and gave me and my family a very outdoors experience and gorgeous pond experience with all the amenities of home.
We love the access to the sandy beach.
We found the property clean, and the kitchen very well stocked with cooking equipment. It's a great place to canoe or kyack. The kids love to jump off the floating dock. It very peaceful and relaxing. We have booked the cabins for this year it will be our 3rd year there. its a great place for friends and family to gather.
We just returned home from 4 nights in The Palace and could not be happier. The cabin was lovely - rustic but very well equipped and clean. The setting was idyllic - a short path leads from the cabin through the woods to a tiny tree-lined beach on the lake, complete with wooden dock. We were surrounded by bird song, and were visited by chipmunks and goslings. We definitely want to come back.
The Palace is located in the woods at the end of a private road. Although secluded, the many historic sites and beaches in Plymouth and the Cape Cod Canal area are a quick 15 to 20 minute drive. Plymouth's popular golf courses are less than 4 miles and with good traffic, its 30 minutes to the Lower Cape. Other Activities: nature observation and bird watching
