Ideal French Countryside Getaway
We stayed at Jackie & Tony's Gite for 9 nights in July and overall we had a great time and were very impressed with the facilities and definitely the hosts.
We arrived as a family of 6 after a long journey from Scotland. The property was difficult to find with just the postcode provided so we did have to call Jackie after a 20 minute drive around the neighbouring countryside. Perhaps better directions could be provided to guests before the stay.
Our initial impressions were very positive. The Gite offered all the facilities we could have hoped for. The kitchen was very well equipped and even things like dishwasher tablets, salt and pepper, coffee capsules were provided.
In terms of space, there was plenty for our party of 2 adults and 4 children. The upstairs of the property was more modern and very clean. There is no shower in the property although we were able to make do with a bath for our time there. Downstairs there is a large living area with a dining table and a large kitchen next door.
Outside there is a decent sized decking area with a built in BBQ, table and chairs, parasol and some seating. It was a lovely area with welcome shade later in the evening but it is not the outside living space shown in the images on the website.
The main garden area is around the front of the main house which is occupied by Jackie & Tony. This is a lovely grassed area with loads for the children to do. There is a swimming pool, trampoline, swings, football goal, donkeys and chickens.
The surrounding area is fairly remote which was fine with us. The village basically has a pub with a shop next door selling bread. The lunches in the pub are excellent and really good value. The nearest town is Alencon which has supermarkets and everything you could ever need.
The real highlight of this property, however, is the hosts. Tony & Jackie really want you to be happy and enjoy your holiday. They know the local area really well and gave us some great recommendations of places to visit. If there are any issues during the holiday they will do everything they can to rectify them. The highlight of our holiday had to be Tony & Jackie's wedding anniversary party that they kindly invited us to. Thank you so much for this. We met lots of genuinely nice people and were made to feel very welcome. The food was excellent and the party games are still a daily talking point with our 3 boys.
Overall we had a great time and much credit for that goes the hosts
