A spacious mountaintop home, secluded on 15 acres, yet 5 minutes to groceries, shopping, the Pisgah National Forest entrance; and ten minutes to waterfall parking lots and hike / mountain bike trailheads in Dupont State Recreational Forest.
Sit back on the wrap-around deck and see for miles and miles as the views constantly change with the sun moving across the sky and occasional clouds passing by.
We offer all the bed linens and bath towels for your convenience. Our kitchen is fully equipped and stocked with most cooking spices, so there is no need to buy or bring any. We have dinnerware, glassware, coffee cups and wine glasses for 8 people, and the kitchen table expands to comfortably seat 8.
There are no neighbors in sight. But you're just moments away from shopping, ten minutes from downtown Brevard, twenty minutes from Hendersonville, twenty minutes from the Asheville Regional Airport, and thirty minutes from downtown Asheville and Biltmore Estates.
This classic 2 1/2 story Post and Beam architecture, 2,600 sq. ft., 4 bedroom, 3 bath home is ideally suited for:
Plenty of space and privacy for one, two or three couples.
Indoors and outdoors space to play. A good fit for two families with a handful of kids each. Adult nuclear family reunions with parents are also a great fit for up to eight. Kids will love Sliding Rock, just 10 miles away; and exploring the river and waterfall scenes from the Hunger Games movie, set in Dupont. Baby high chair and pack-n-play crib inclueded.
Location is between Dupont and Pisgah. You can leave the house, get in a nice ride and be back home in 90 minutes. Or go for the day and never ride the same moderate to expert-level trail twice. Sycamore Cycles and The Hub are both two miles.
In the heart of the Land of Waterfalls, you can experience a different waterfall every day for weeks on end. Some are on the side of the road. Some are easy, moderate, or difficult hikes. Some are grandiose and jaw-dropping. Some are intimate, private and tranquil.
Craft Beer Explorers.
There are dozens of breweries in the surrounding area, each designed in its own unique style to accommodate the bustling beer tourism scene. Two of the superstars are especially convenient. Oskar Blues might list “Brevard” on a can of Dale’s, but they’re right next door to the Pisgah Forest Post Office, less than 4 miles away. Sierra Nevada – locally known as “Malt Disney World" – is an easy 20-minute drive. Most breweries are family-friendly and many have toys and games for little tykes.
Owners are foodies and the kitchen is fully equipped. The region is richly populated with independent restaurants that pride themselves on supporting local farmers. Minutes away in downtown Brevard you’ll find some excellent chefs making their mark. Drive 20 minutes to Hendersonville to widen your choices. Or go 35 minutes to downtown Asheville for tons of options without a chain in sight.
Music and Art Lovers.
The acclaimed Brevard Music Center attracts classically trained talent from all over the world, and supports a vibrant live music culture of many genres. Almost half of the Summer Festival concerts there are free and open to the public, and recently they began mixing in mainstream acts like Lyle Lovett, Lee Ann Womack and Ricky Skaggs. The area hosts many festivals, and you’re 30 minutes from Asheville’s thriving independent music scene. You’ll also find movie theaters devoted to independent and foreign films, and an active theater scene and many concert venues here. Visit the artists’ haven West Ashville, just 30 minutes away to discover mountain artisans and their works.
Folks come here from long distances for the best fishing Western North Carolina has to offer. Transylvania County has nearly 500 miles of coldwater creeks, streams and rivers. From our home you are literally minutes from Davidson River and the French Broad River. We’re 9 miles from the Pisgah Fish Hatchery. Lake Toxaway, a private, natural mountain lake, is 25 miles away and has a marina that rents boats. There is no shortage of guides and outfitters in the area to ensure a memorable, picture-perfect adventure.
Hop in the car and you are 17 miles to the Blue Parkway. Stop by the Pisgah Inn for lunch on a high-altitude deck, or pack a picnic and enjoy the outdoors, with views to both the east and west. The North Carolina Arboretum is 20 minutes away. Historic Biltmore Estate is 35 minutes from the house. And guests love visiting Pretty Place, a quiet, serene place of beauty that is breath taking.
You’ll find an abundance of the most beautiful mountain courses, both local and within a 30 – 45-minute drive from the house. Etowah Valley is just 5 minutes from the house. Connestee Falls and Sherwood Forest is just south of downtown Brevard. Nearby Hendersonville offers several amazing courses. And you are 25 miles from Lake Toxaway Country Club.
We love this note from of a couple celebrating an anniversary and had all kinds of plans for their visit. “We spent one full day on the deck, relaxing and taking in the amazing mountain views. All those plans and we never left the house. It tuned out to be exactly what we needed.”
