Cherry Grove is the northern most beach community on the Grand Strand. It is family friendly and relatively quiet. We live here year around in a house directly behind this house. We greet you upon arrival and are available on short notice. Moreover, our houses are one block from the beach and across the street from a full-service grocery store (Boulineaus) and two blocks from several restaurants. We call this "the best location in Cherry Grove.
We promise a large, well maintained, clean and comfortable house one block to the beach with amenities offered by North Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand. We also promise to do all we can to make your stay enjoyable while not intruding on your privacy. Upgrades make the property close to luxury in some respects but we are not claiming that for the whole house. The house is old but has been renovated extensively inside and out. Our ratings have increased significantly since we acquired the property eight years ago. Having said all this please note we are not a hotel.
We named the house BREEZY. It has six bedrooms and is ideal and priced to attract groups of twelve (12) but will accommodate twenty four (24). BREEZY has a King and Queen bed in the very large lower level bedroom. Upstairs there are two large bedrooms furnished with two Queen beds in each. The other three bedroom are not as large but they each have two full size beds.
The back yard has a patio with a large fire pit. It is popular year around. Many of our guests think the patio and fire pit are as much fun as the pool. Most guests entertain themselves reminicing and bantering into the night. We encourate guests to be quieter after 10 pm sincee many neighbors live here full time. Guests also enjoy the large deck and area around the pool day and night.
We have another large house on the same street as Breezy that is two houses closer to the beach and we call it The Booth House. It accommodates 14 in beds so the two housed combined are suitable for a total of 38 guests. Large family reunions, church and college groups are encouraged to contact us. It was a great location having the grocery store around the corner local shops restaurants made it easy to get anything we needed. I wish pool guy would have come more than once. The owner was prompt and filling the pool and replacing a light bulb in the bathroom. Overall stay was awesome.

Great location

House was perfect for my group of 8 golfers. Plenty of space. Back yard was definitely a highlight. We made good use of the pool and the grill. Could have used more towels and there are definitely some minor things that could be improved with the house but overall we had a great experience.

Very convenient location

Very convenient location! Grocery store, ice cream shop, liquor store, & beach right across across the street. Yard/pool very nice for entertaining at the house- gas grill not operational at the time of our stay which was a bummer. They delivered a smaller charcoal grill but a gas grill is needed with all of the ppl staying in a house that large.

Great Location

The house was perfect for our group It was 21 of us and we still had room for more The pool was amazing The fire pit was perfect 4 bathrooms worked so well And We had the best location right next to a grocery store The kitchen was fully furnished with everything we needed There was a souvenir store just a few steps away The beach was across the street It was a wonderful house and great spot We all enjoyed it Thank you to the owner who was very quick to give us the check in info We hope to come back next year

Great place! Great location! Easy going property owner!

This place was beautiful and exactly like the picture. Perfect for friends and family! It was steps to the beach which made it amazing. To add on to the great location aspect, there’s a super market right across the street and multiple amazing restaurants. The property owner was so easy going and easy to get ahold of. I would stay again and again just based off of amazing he was to stay with and the convenience of the property. The pool was also a plus lol.

Everything went well. Towels were not enough for the group. Pool was dirty when we got there. Pool people came twice when we were there. Cleared it up nicely. My grandkids loved seeing the beach for the first time. Overall a great trip.

Beautiful weather for October

Communication by text or email often took hours. I would suggest a phone call for urgency. Due to repairs being completed, we were unable to use the firepit or outside grill for the last few days. We had some ants by the pool so we got ant bait ourselves. The convenience of the store just steps away was AMAZING. The place felt clean and plenty of dishes for my large group. Thank you

It was good but

The only problem was the showers were really small water gets everywhere, there’s no space to shower comfortably or move around, there was trash left outside that caused many flys and made the entrances smell really bad, the grills that were provided did not work, in general everything else was good the location and the pool was great!

A "work in progress" that will be charming once the owner finishes renovating

This spacious beach house is conveniently located a block from the beach and has very roomy bedrooms, kitchen, dining and living areas. The laundry room is very convenient. The outside shower/faucet arrangement at the pool is also great. However, this property is in what I would call a state of change. The owner is making renovations to it, having just acquired this property earlier this year. Once the renovations are complete, I have no doubts that this will be a 4 or 5-star property, but it is not quite there yet. We had a group of 17 people staying, and everyone was comfortable and had a bed--the amount of space is amazing. It is located next to Boulineau's/IGA, which is great from a convenience for groceries standpoint, but the trucks deliver very early in the morning, so unless you are a sound sleeper, you might hear the noise. It is also not picturesque, since it faces the loading dock of the grocery store, if you care about this, but the proximity to Cherry Grove Beach far outweighs this in my mind. The pool itself was clean, but there were bits of toilet paper that someone had thrown in that we had to fish out before using it. There was also some debris in the yard (a broken mirror and a little bit of litter). The dishwasher was broken when we got there, so we had to wash the last guests' dirty dishes first thing. The floor, which the owner plans to replace, did not really get clean, despite the cleaning crew's efforts. My 10-month old nephew had dirty knees after crawling around on them a few minutes. The linens for the 12 beds(!) varied from one or two perfectly fine sheet sets to some that were so wrinkled and tattered that I assumed (wrongly) that they were dirty. The stuffing was coming out of one of the bed covers. Some were incomplete, missing a pillowcase or a fitted sheet. The tradition in this area seems to be to leave the sheet sets folded on top of the bed, which was new to my experience of staying in VRBO homes. The owner, Al, was apologetic for the state of the house when we got there, and worked with us to make up for the broken dishwasher and said he would address our other complaints for future guests. If you are a large family group or group of friends that is in the area and want a place to stay that will be spacious and convenient, this property will be perfect once renovations are complete. In the meantime, it is a good value for the space and proximity to the beach that you are getting.

Disappointed

We would not go back or recommend this property. I believe that the owner has the best intentions, he just needs better help. The house is close to everything shopping and the beach. It could be a great place. Unfortunately that was not our experience. The property was not clean. 1 of the rooms had a lot of sand in the bed under the duvet on the mattress pad. The outside area had piles of trash that had been swept up but left. The pool was green. You could not see the bottom. The pool area had 8 old floats that were no good strewn around the pool deck was covered in trash and debris from the trees. We found broken glass around the fire pit and in the grass. The grill area was covered in burnt food and pieces of the grill . No one was there to meet us the house was unlocked .We found keys inside and tried them for the doors and they worked. I texted Al to let him know that things were dirty and not in order. He responded quickly. He was very courteous. And shortly the host showed up. He apologized for the state of the property. Said that his last guest had destroyed the property. We went over what we had saw in the first little bit of us arriving. At that time we told him about the toilet seats not being attached also. He promised that he would get it cleaned up. He would add chemicals to the pool and come back the next day finish it and clean the pool area around 1 pm and bring us a new grill. Since the last guest had destroyed the grill. He also told me that he would bring us a $100 gift card so that we could go out to dinner as an apology for the state of the place. He showed up around 3 vacuumed the pool and left. We never received the gift card or the grill . The way he talked about the area really made us feel we had chosen the wrong beach for a family vacation. He told us that the owner lived right behind us but didn't take care of the place he did. We got the feeling after talking with him on 2 separate occasions that he was not really concerned with correcting any issues, he just wanted to make sure that we blamed the previous guest not him. The microwave did not work.

A great property for the family

Right across the street from the grocery store which is good and bad. The road is busy and noisy early in the mornings. But if you need something, just walk on over and pick it up. The property itself is great. Having the pool and a gas grill is wonderful. Plenty of rooms and bath rooms as well. We would rent here again.

Location, location, 6 bedrooms

This property isn't flashy, but it has 6 bedrooms, 12 beds and is a block from the beach. Also next door to the grocery store and walking distance to 5-10 restaurants. We would have appreciated more towels available given that we had 14 guests. We didn't have A/C on the 2nd floor one night and could not get a response from the owner for 16 hours. That was incredibly frustrating but was resolved the next day. Set your expectations appropriately and enjoy the waves!

Not terrible, but not great

The location was amazing, it was a safe part of town. The grocery store nearby was incredibly convenient and was super close to the beach and public beach access. Checking in was a huge hassle, we were told to contact the host day before and the day of to let them know what time we plan to check in. We never received a response even after I expressed my worries about whether we would be able to check-in or not. Al did not reach out until right at 4 pm after I let him know that the door code we were provided did not work. Once we got into the house, the photos were similar to the listing. But it was not clean. We found tissues and beer cans in the living room and it was obvious the property had not been properly cleaned. The bedding was gross and had blood stains on it and sand all in the bed. This caused our first day of the trip to be spent cleaning. We had to wash all bedding, sweep, and mop. The drawers in the living room had literal junk in them that I'm assuming people have just left behind. This is definitely not the way you would want to spend your vacation by wondering if you are getting your stuff mixed up with other people's junk. The pool pump/filter didn't really work and the pool stayed generally dirty the entire trip. But the backyard area was a really nice touch and was nice to have. The showers were small, which I understand you can't change. But when you would shower upstairs, it would leak into the downstairs. On the last night, the window in one of the upstairs bedrooms literally fell in, in the middle of the night. It was like nothing was holding it in. Overall, it wasn't the worst I've seen. But, for the money you're paying it definitely could have been better. Especially when we are talking about basic cleaning. I'm not sure if it is just the cleaning person who isn't doing their job, but something definitely needs to be done.

Just Okay

The house was okay. I want to start off by saying we aren’t sure if there’s been some time in between us and the last guests who stayed. Overall, the house wasn’t very clean. There was dead bugs smashed on the walls random places and flies everywhere. The sheets were clean and in bags, but some of them smelled like smoke. We ended up washing the sheets again before putting them on the beds. One bed was missing a sheet as well. The towels that were the provided linens also smelled like smoke so we rewashed all of them. A few of the shower curtains had mold on the bottom of them as well. When we first arrived, the house was open, which we were thankful for because the code we were given was incorrect. We reached out to Al and it took a little, but he did get back to us. Al was easy to contact, which was a positive. We loved having two refrigerators, however they both leaked and would not keep our food cold. We basically just ended up keeping our drinks in there. The backyard area was super nice and we loved it. The location also was great. Being just behind the grocery store was very helpful and it was just a short walk to the beach or a restaurant.

Didn't like the cigarette buds all over yard and a bucket full by fire pit. The two fridges were a god send but both leaked water at back of unit inside and cou ld have been cleaner. Everything you need was available. Grocery store right across the street which was wonderful however the noise with the trucks in the am was allot. But they need the deliveries. Over all a great time and would defiantly consider renting again. Ty

Family vacation

Overall nice place to stay, showers are small like everyone else has said but we took our shampoo outside and used the outdoor shower a lot so we made it work. Two bedrooms upstairs don't have a door so that made it a little difficult for the baby to sleep. We took dogs with us and they loved the back yard. Grocery store right next door was super convenient. I'd stay again.

My life has been very good. The youngest of 4 children born during the late 1920's and early 1930's, we lived in a "working class" neighborhood in Council Bluffs, Iowa. My father was a machinist in the Union Pacific Railroad Yards of Omaha Nebraska and my mother a young housewife. During the War my father worked nights and longer - about 80 hours per week was not unusual. He had little time for family. My mother was responsible for almost everything day to day. She thought music and dance were important and saw to it her children took lessons - except for me. By the time I was old enough for such things, at least I suspect, she was so worn out that she pretty much let me do what I wanted. So from about age 6 in 1941 and during the Big One I enjoyed a degree of freedom and neglect that very few can imagine. Fortunately, parental guidance was largely unnecessary and most certainly was unwanted. We called ourselves "The Ridge Street Gang". It included about 40 individuals aged 5 or 6 to 16 or 17 who lived on a two block dead-end street. The older "kids" were of course always in control -- protecting and exploiting the younger ones. Surprisingly, nothing "bad" ever really happened and no member of The Ridge Street Gang ever served time in prison - at least as far as I know. Most spent time in the military since since we had universal conscription or the draft. Most went willingly anyway during the War since we were very patriotic. My older brother even finished high school in 3 years so he could join the Navy at age 17 to serve his country. He wanted to get in before the War ended and did so by a few months in June 1945.
I have very fond memories of those carefree days.

We purchased this house in April 2017 from a group that catered almost exclusively to high school and frat parties. It was in pretty run down condition but had a lot of potential, including very large rooms, and a great location - especially for us. We live directly behind Breezy, own and rent another house we call the Gallery next door and have nieces and nephews who live behind us and between our rental houses. So we have a strong interest in acquiring and upgrading our neighborhood. And that is what we have been doing since acquiring the properties. We are making progress but like a work of art it is not and never be finished. We have added the patio with natural gas grill and fire pit. We also refurbished and now heat the pool to extend swimming to October and resume in March. The flooring downstairs was "spongy" due to termite damage so the floor joists and flooring were replaced last year. While we were at it we put new flooring upstairs and tiled the bathrooms. Our "Bug Man" killed the termites and treats the premises monthly and as needed for creatures of all sorts. More recently we brightened things up by installing flat LED lighting in the bedrooms and bathrooms. Responsible young adults will always be welcome as well as large family, church, orchestra and similar groups that enjoy vacationing together. We welcome suggestions on how we may improve the property and your experiences while vacationing in this family-friendly beach community.

The outstanding features of this property include its proximity to the beach, convenience to a modern full service grocery store, restaurants, and smaller shops that feature great pizza, pies and ice cream. All of these are across the street or within one block.
