Aura Retreat is our stunning luxury apartment located in a perfect spot just outside of the city centre. The recently developed building is located just off Layerthorpe, roughly a 12-15 minutes’ walk into the centre of York. Located just a 2 minute walk around the corner from the Foss Islands shopping strip and a Morrisons Supermarket, everything you could need is within walking distance.

This gorgeous one bedroom apartment oozes luxury upon entering the building. Heading up the stairs into the apartment, You will immediately notice that everything the apartment contains is practically brand new. Through the entrance door you will immediately see the spacious open plan living and dining room. The living room is modernly decorated to a high standard, offering a double sofa bed for extra sleeping space, a smart flat screen Tv and 2 beautifully comfortable arm chairs.

The apartment benefits from full interior design and makes for the perfect base for any business or leisure stay. The apartment itself has been thoughtfully planned to allow for maximum natural light throughout the whole property. The large bright windows allow the living area to be so bright and airy yet at the same time so cosy and homely! Its everything you could want.

The stylish grey kitchen comes complete with an electric hob and oven, microwave, kettle, toaster and a washer/dryer for your use. Alongside all of the cutlery and crockery you could need to make a basic meal.

The bedroom offers an extremely comfortable king size bed and a large mirrored wardrobe for storage.

The modern bathroom contains stunning tiling throughout, along with a walk in shower.

The furnishings are extremely comfortable and makes the apartment a perfect choice for your stay in York.

Wonderful!!

We had a wonderful stay at this property. The accommodation was spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed during our visit. Great apartment

Me and my husband stayed one night as a last minute getaway to York. The host was lovely - very friendly and polite, responsive and informative. The location was great. About a 10 minute walk into the city center. The actual apartment block is located within a quiet residential estate with secure parking. The apartment itself was spotless! Very clean and fresh. The furnishings were on trend and interior design was perfect. Modern appliances and smart TV make all the difference.

Good Location with free parking

Numbered allocated parking space provided with this property. Clean modern apartment which was fully equipped with everything we needed. A 15 minute walk in to York. Would recommend booking this property, really enjoyed our stay

Weekend break to york

The flat is ideally located for a visit to York. We liked that it was the top floor so we had the window and doors. Can see out without feeling like people were looking in. The guests before us spotted silverfish so the office let us know and that it will be sorted but not enough time before our check in. We saw one or two in the bathroom but no big deal. The bathroom floor didn’t look to have been cleaned. Carpet wasn’t hoovered well. Anything we went to use in the kitchen appeared dirty so we washed everything before use. And I would recommend if you go to stay you let them know before hand if you need the sofa bed as we had to figure it out and fully make it up on arrival. Handy to have a free parking space at the property rather than have to pay for nearby parking. It did the job!

A disappointing and uncomfortable stay

We made this booking with high expectations as the property and letting agency were well rated. This particular apartment is apartment P in the Aura complex.The apartment is relatively new but showing some wear and tear. It is on the top floor so there are some accessibility issues (4 flights of stairs and no lift). Parking is provided - a plus in York. Accommodation is compact but adequate, except in the case of the bedroom, where the placing of a king-sized bed prevents access to plug sockets for a hair drier and there is very little walk-round space. The sitting room has two comfortable chairs and a settee, though we found the positioning of furniture not of the best. The carpet is quite marked from previous layouts and out of its fitting at the bedroom door. The dining table and chairs were a good eating area. The kitchen was adequate and reasonably equipped. The shower room is small with very little space for personal effects. There were small niggles, such as the sitting room clock with a dead battery and a bedside lamp with no bulb. The main problems we encountered: both bathroom and kitchen floors had not been thoroughly cleaned; the shower seal was broken and water spilled out onto the floor during use; the floor mat provided had pubic hair in it when we unfolded it; the bed mattress, which was thin and uncomfortable, had only a sheet covering it and the springs could be felt through it - a very uncomfortable and sagging bed, which we complained about the morning after our arrival; the damp from the shower was encouraging an infestation of silver fish insects. These were found amongst our clothes in the bedroom wardrobe backing onto the shower area. We have pointed out these issues to the agency in private communication. Although they are investigating them they are not prepared to make any amends, preferring to hide behind the detail of the contract, so unfortunately we shall not book through them again.
