The property’s outdoor spaces make it easy to appreciate its rural setting on an estate once owned by the bankers to the Medici family. The kitchen and living room open to a porch with a barbecue shaded dining table, and up a flight of steps, you’ll find the panoramic terrace that you will fall in love with during romantic drinks at sunset overlooking the iconic Tuscan hilltops and your private lake alla round you. The huge private pool, which is surrounded by its own terrace, loungers and gazebo offer unique 360° views that you will never forget. The villa itself is air-conditioned and has Wi-Fi.

Traditional on the outside, chic and fresh on the inside, VILLA LAJATICO is a stylish getaway in the countryside between Lajatico, Volterra, Castelfalfi and Palaia. Renovated in 2020 to provide amazing Tuscan experiences, the three-bedroom farmhouse villa is ideal for both families and friends looking for deep relaxation and meditation while exploring the wonders and Tuscany’s best kept-secrets.

Since Villa Lajatico is located on a 100-acre estate, there’s plenty to explore on foot, like the private lake that’s a 10-minute walk away at the bottom of the hill. By car, it’s 10 minutes to shopping and dining, 20 mins to Volterra and 25 minutes to the hospital and train station in Pontedera. Just 15 minutes away, you’ll find the Castelfalfi golf course, and the beaches in Pisa and Tirrenia are 45 minutes away. The Pisa airport is 40 minutes away, and the Florence airport is a 60-minute drive.



Please kindly remark that the house is reachable through an unmade road, therefore it is not suitable for sport cars, cars with low suspensions or drivers who are unfamiliar with country roads.

Wonderful villa

We spent wonderful holidays at Villa Lajatico Il Gattero. The landscape is very beautiful with sublime sunset. The swimming pool is huge. Massimo and his family were very nice and organized very sympathic dinners. Massimo was also helpful on various requests. Thank you so much for these so amazing holidays. We hope to come back as soon as possible.

Wonderful Villa Lajatico

Our party of 6 adults truly enjoyed the beauty of the Villa. The privacy was wonderful as well as the views to the hills with the lake. The recommended chef was not available during our stay, however the Lucca Apartments and Villas Team found another chef for us to use and he was wonderful. There is nothing better than the beauty of the Tuscan region along with the food and friendly Italian people we were able to meet. Thank you again for a great vacation in Tuscany!

A place to call Home!

We still talk about our stay quite often. The other day we were sitting around discussing our favorite places, and my dad immediately said “I know what mine is – Villa Lajatico! We are still thinking and talking about our time in your house. It was so very special. Dana and I would like to get something blocked on the calendar for next year. Hopefully we will be back before too long.

A real gem

We had a week at the beautiful Villa Lajatico at the end of August and had a really wonderful holiday. The villa is very comfortable and well equipped, the outdoor space for eating is also lovely and the pool area is truly splendid. The panoramic views were extraordinary and the pool itself was well maintained and a lovely size. The family who run the Agritourismo that the villa is situated on were welcoming and helpful with absolutely everything, easily available when needed. We joined them and their other guests for a delicious Tuscan meal and Pizza evening which was great fun for all ages with a real buzz and great food and wine.

Family Holiday

Our stay in this beautiful villa was a 70th birthday present for me from my family. What a wonderful time we all had - they couldn’t have chosen better. A lovely home for our week away with an amazing pool which has stunning panoramic views of the countryside. This was combined with a genuine warm welcome from our hosts who couldn’t do enough for us. The two themed evenings they organised were amazing and enjoyed by us all. To experience this fantastic holiday with my children and grandchildren was an absolute joy and I would recommend this villa to anyone wishing to spend time in this area of Tuscany. I can’t think of anything that could be improved. Everything was perfect for our family holiday.

Our Stay was fantastic

When I booked for a two week stay, there were no reviews posted and I was so concerned - but I took a leap and decided to book anyway because it just looked so lovely. I am SO GLAD that I did . . . So I will try to leave a thorough review since I (like many others) use them to help make a decision. The Villa does require about 1.5 - 2 miles down an unpaved road. We had a minivan rental without all wheel drive loaded with 4 people and 400 lbs of luggage - and we were fine! You absolutely do need a car - the nearest restaurants are 5-10 min by car and the main grocery store in Peccioli was about 20 minutes. We ate at several lovely restaurants and found the Coop Grocery to have everything we needed - we mostly made breakfast at the Villa and made several dinners utilizing the kitchen, outdoor grill (charcoal) and pizza oven (wood). We had a chef come in and teach us how to make some traditional Tuscan food and pasta - we had 4 of us in the kitchen at the same time and found basics of everything we needed to cook. The villa itself is precious with amazing sunlight in the two upstairs bedrooms - the sun was fully up by 5:30AM so we were grateful for the shutters that blocked out the light so we could sleep as late as we wanted 😂. The AC was powerful enough that we were cool and comfortable even though it was extremely hot outside. Our view and private pool was absolutely amazing. The water was cool and refreshing and laying in the sunbedon the sofa under the cabana to read was a favorite pastime. We did take several day trips - Florence tourist spots (Duomo, Uffizi, etc) was about 1.5 hours to park there. Many other people we met would park in Pontedero and take the train - we never did that so can’t comment on which was better. We also went to Pisa, Cinque Terre, Volterra and San Gimignano - Sienna and Lucca were also close enough for day trips - we just preferred to stay at the villa more. Massimo and his family could not be better hosts at il Gattero. They do have other guests in the apartments in the other two buildings - we rarely saw anyone tucked away by ourselves except at the “family dinner” and pizza nights where Massimo and his family invite all guests to attend and they make a traditional Tuscan meala pizza party for a reasonable price. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and meeting the other families - all from different countries and languages

Amazing stay

We had an amazing stay, lovely villa and very special, accommodating hosts. The access to wine and water using an honesty system was fantastic and we enjoyed lovely wines. The Monday evening meal with family and other guests was really enjoyable and we now need to master the tomato bruschetta which was best we ever tasted.
