Villa Aminta

The charming, medieval village of Scala, lies only 2 km far from Ravello. Its name means “ladder” or “flight of steps” in Italian, characteristic of this hill-top village which runs along the side of the Dragon Valley right above Amalfi and adjacent to Ravello. It is the oldest town on the Amalfi Coast and is the ideal location for people who enjoy country hill walks. Paths lead to seldom visited hamlets, small chapels and medieval ruins with stunning views over the coast and the valleys below.
Set in the middle of the Monti Lattari chain and dominated by the great mass of its medieval Cathedral, the commune of Scala is divided into six small hamlets or “borghi”: Scala center, San Pietro, Santa Caterina, Campidoglio, Pontone and Minuta , each rich in history, hidden paths and enchanting views. This is a timeless gem and favoured location for visitors seeking a truly authentic medieval atmosphere , traditional restaurants , fresh products and fresh mountain air, “far from the madding crowds” of other local tourist resorts.

Villa Aminta is located in the beautiful hamlet of Minuta which is situated at the end of the promontory enjoying wonderful views over Ravello , the coast below, the mountains and the sea at a distance ; it comprises a series of medieval buildings built around the medieval church of Our Lady of the Assumption.

Being Minuta the best starting point for walking tours, Villa Aminta is the ideal place for people who enjoy country hill walks and the beautiful atmosphere around the house.

Within a few minutes walk is the heart of the village of Scala with coffee bars, restaurants , a grocer’s shop , open air cafés and the stop for the SITA bus that goes from Scala to Ravello, Amalfi and other towns on the Amalfi Coast.

From the quay of Amalfi, there are ferries and hydrofoils to the other villages along the coast as well as to the Islands of Capri and Ischia, to Sorrento and Naples and also rent boats to explore the surrounding coastline, and visit the many small grottoes .

This attractive, old-world-style villa offers spectacular views, privacy, and special comforts to be shared with friends and family. The exquisitely landscaped grounds are surrounded by old stonewalls, which give the property the feeling of a gracious mini-estate.

The villa is built on three levels. Each floor of the house can be reached either by external stair or by an internal spiral staircase.
We recommend you have a car in this location in order to make the most of your holiday. Parking space is available in a private parking lot at the daily cost from euro 20 to euro 50 (depends on a car size) valet service is included.


Accommodation: The total area of the villa , spread out over three levels, is 230 sqm indoor , 200 sqm of terraces and 4000 sqm of gardens spread over different levels, all with sensational views over the countryside and seacoast.

Ground Level - Living room /Dining area and Kitchen
The living room is large, has a high ceiling, and receives plenty of natural light through two arched glass doors. The furnishings include two sofas , two armchairs ,attractive antique pieces and a wood working fireplace .
The fine, wood dining table seats 6 and expands to 18. The room is equipped also with an air conditioning /heating unit , a satellite television and a CD player. From the living room, two French doors lead to the garden and to the main terrace.

The kitchen is moderate size and has all requisite appliances and equipment such as a four –burner gas cooker, an electric oven, a large refrigerator with freezer, a dishwasher, a microwave oven, an American style coffee maker and a kettle.
From the kitchen another French door will take to the main terrace.

There is a wooden staircase from ground level to first floor, 9 steps long..

First Floor - Two bedrooms, each with matrimonial bed and windows with splendid views

Between the first and second floor there is a spiral staircase, 14 steps long.

Annex - The annex is accessed from the main terrace along an exterior staircase of 15 stairs and offers 1 bedroom with a French bed ( small then usual double , just 1.40 cm wide x 1.80 deep) , a single sofa bed , air conditioning/heating unit and en-suite bathroom with a washbasin, a toilet and fully enclosed shower

The terrace: The terrace is 200 sqm large and enjoys a breathtaking view of Ravello, of the sea and of the Amalfi Coast .
The terrace is equipped with table, chairs, sun umbrellas, lounge chairs, stone oven, barbecue and a refrigerator. Laundry room with washing machine and ironing facilities

The garden: The garden is 4000 sqm large and enjoys the same breathtaking views.
Part of the garden is shaded by a stone porch under which are situated a table with chairs and patio furnishings .

The Pool
The swimming pool is 5 meters (16 feet) large by 10 meters (33 feet) long, 2.5 meters (8 feet) deep. The swimming pool has a sinuous shape. The swimming pool area is equipped with tables, chairs, sun umbrellas, deck chairs, sun loungers and an external shower. The pool is open from the beginning of May until the end of September.

Access: Villa Aminta will be accessed from the street level walking down centuries years old stairways , 90 steps long
The steps leading to the property are typical of the Amalfi Coast, but are not extreme.

Facilities: Air-conditioning and central heating , satellite TV, CD Player,. fridge/freezer, cooker with 4 gas rings, electric oven, washing machine, dishwasher, hairdryers in each bathroom, ironing facilities, wood-burning oven and barbecue corner, WI-FI Internet access.

Mandatory cleaning fee, payable locally 300,00 euros per stay including mid-week cleaning for 8 hours and end-of-week cleaning

Damage deposit : € 800,00 payable locally in cash on arrival

Electricity/air conditioning : included in the rental price up to 300 kwh, extra consumption is payable at 0,42 x kwh

Extra bed: euros 65,00 per day a person (max 2.)
Cot on request euros 15,00 per day.

Tourist tax payable locally in cash= Euro 1,50 per person per night
