Designed to take advantage of the stunning views and serene surroundings, The Designhouse has been built with an inverted layout. Upon entering the villa, guests are greeted by a foyer that leads down to the bedroom floor before continuing to the living area and sun terrace with a heated infinity pool.



The villa's unique cubist architecture is complemented by designer furnishings, including a Le Corbusier chaise longue, glass tables and chairs, Wassily chairs, EGE carpets, and Paul Henningsen lamps. The living area boasts an open-plan design and floor-to-ceiling sliding picture windows, offering breathtaking views over the banana trees and out to sea.



Continuing the contemporary theme, the villa features a fully-equipped kitchen with a central island and laundry facilities. Both the kitchen and laundry lead out to the southern exposure sun terrace that runs the entire length of the villa. Here, guests can relax and unwind on a large comfortable sofa or dine al fresco at the outdoor dining table situated under a covered area for added comfort.



The villa has four bedrooms that can accommodate up to eight guests. The master bedroom is located on the first floor and features a double bed, en-suite shower room, and private balcony with panoramic sea views. The second bedroom also boasts a double bed and leads out to the shared balcony. The third bedroom features two single beds and also has access to the shared balcony. The fourth bedroom, also known as the study, has two single beds that can be converted into a double bed and has its own private balcony, making it an ideal space for guests who need to combine work with pleasure.



Despite its secluded location on a cul-de-sac street, The Designhouse is conveniently located just 3 km from the village resort of Calheta, with its many amenities, and only 1 km away from the expressway that provides access to the rest of the island. The capital city of Funchal is only a 30-minute drive away, while the airport can be reached within 40 minutes.



The villa is perfectly situated for guests who enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, with many walks available around Calheta and easy access to the plateau of Paul da Serra, which offers a variety of levada walks. The Designhouse features four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Bedroom 1, located on the first floor, has one double bed, built-in wardrobe, and a private front balcony with a sea view. Bedroom 2, also on the first floor, features one double bed, built-in cupboard, and leads to the front balcony with a sea view. Bedroom 3, also on the first floor, has two single beds, built-in cupboard, and leads to the front balcony with a sea view. The study room, which serves as the fourth bedroom, is also located on the first floor and features two single beds that can be converted into a double bed and a private balcony.



The villa has three bathrooms. Bathroom 1, located on the first floor, has a single washbasin, toilet, bidet, and walk-in shower. Bathroom 2, also on the first floor, features a single washbasin, toilet, bidet, and bath with overhead shower. Bathroom 3, on the ground floor, has a single washbasin, toilet, and walk-in shower.



The fully equipped kitchen comes with an island, 4-ring induction electric cooker, built-in electric double oven, microwave, under-counter fridge, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, food processor, and hand-held liquidizer. The dining area features a Le Corbusier designer glass dining table for 8.



The villa's sitting area has designer furniture and seating for 8, a flat screen cable TV, MEO digital box, DVD, Bluetooth speaker, and PS4. The large glass windows lead to the front sun terrace and pool. A variety of table games is available.



A study on the first floor features a designer desk and chair, and a private side balcony. The villa also offers a variety of table games, reading material, maps, guidebooks, and reference books on Madeira. A high-quality Weber barbecue (coal) is available, as well as laundry facilities with a washing machine, iron and ironing board, and clotheshorse.



The villa has secure parking facilities for up to 2 cars, and free Wi-Fi connection throughout the living area. Cleaning and linen change are provided every 7 days, and all linen and towels, including towels for the swimming pool, are provided.



The villa's rectangular infinity pool with a waterfall is 10m long and 3m wide, with a depth of 1m to 1.80m. Pool heating is optional and costs 140,00€ per week for a setting of 24°C, paid in cash on arrival. A supplement of 30,00€ per week applies for each additional degree setting up to a maximum of 26°C. Pool heating should be requested at least one week in advance. Should it be requested after arrival at the villa, the minimum charge applicable is one week, which is payable from the time the heating is turned on.



The advertised prices for The Designhouse are based on a 4-person occupancy, and supplements apply should additional people join you for any length of time. To secure your reservation, a deposit is required, or the full amount if within 8 weeks of arrival. Should you cancel up to 8 weeks prior to arrival, only the deposit is non-refundable, and within this period, the full amount is non-refundable. The villa's prices are based on 4 people sharing and also have a security deposit of €200.
