About Laurie Tate
I grew up in Opelika, we both graduated from Auburn University and after moving around the south and mid-west for 27 years we decided to settle back in my hometown. You will find the area very friendly with a slow pace, yet many activities to choose from. If you like college sports, you have found the right place...WAR EAGLE! If you love golfing, look no further, we have some of the most fabulous courses around and are home to one of The Robert Trent Jones golf course. Love to antique? Enjoy riding on backroads and finding many hidden treasures. Come enjoy your stay and quickly find out why Opelika has been voted as one of the best places to retire! Welcome!
Laurie Tate purchased this House in 2016
Why Laurie Tate chose Opelika
We bought the home I grew up in and love the wooded feel of the lot and the older homes. The house next door to us became available and we bought it to use and share as a guest house to those wanting to enjoy the area of Opelika and Auburn.
What makes this House unique
You will love the larger, wooded lots and the charm of the older homes. The location is perfect for Auburn game days and any other activities you wish in this historic railroad town.

Clean & cozy
The Guesthouse was very cozy and inviting!
We had a wonderful time gathering for our son’s graduation from Auburn. It was clean, comfortable, and the owners did a fantastic job making us feel welcome. I’d highly recommend it!
Loved having you stay! Congratulations to the graduate!
Stayed here for our recent visit back to Auburn with our family
Absolutely wonderful and, quaint home close to campus - wonderful time! Owner Laurie left us in good hands with our home away from home. Home was very clean and, well kept and, kitchen had all the essentials to chill out after a long day. A gorgeous view with lots of bird feeders and, a small deck beg you to the back yard to get that down time you've been looking for. Gorgeous neighborhood that encourages long walks with the dog with a lake that will take your breathe away. Not even 5 minutes from downtown Opelika where you will surprise yourself with great shopping and dining options. Do not miss the Irish Bred Pub where you will be surprised by the food and craft beer selection - really yummy. House is convenient also to I-85 and other major roads with grocery less than 5 mtes away. Bedrooms are smallish and, there is only 1 shower so, if your a larger party be patient. I was surprised to see the house had a PS4 with games for the kids as well washer dryer combo. Safe and quiet. Toomer's Corner 15 mtes away - do not miss the Lemonade at Toomer's Drugs or, visiting Auburn's equestrian program - one of the best in the country. We also hit up Pope's Haunted Farm which we've done in the past over in Salem (20 mtes drive) and, always have a blast. Super family friendly and, laid back area in general away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Staying at this house will help you relax and, reconnect with loved ones - highly suggest it if you're feeling a little burnt out lately. Cheers!
So happy to have had your family as our guest and you brought Auburn luck! You guys are welcome back anytime!! War Eagle!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay after the AU football game. The home is in great condition and very nicely decorated - just lovely. We felt very much at home as if we were staying with friends rather than renting a house. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable!
Myself and 2 teenage daughters stayed during Auburn Family Weekend. The location was about 15 minutes from campus on a quiet residential street. The owners were friendly and helpful. The house was adorably decorated with antiques and comfy couches. The refrigerator was thoughtfully stocked with breakfast items and drinks. The area is quiet, peaceful and restful. Opelika had several good restaurant choices. I have already recommended this place to other parents when they visit Auburn U.
Nice quiet neighborhood. Very comfortable home. Owners were wonderfully responsive and helpful.
Lake Martin in Dadeville, AL is approx. 25 miles from our door. You will find golfing, swimming, boating and wonderful restaurants there. In addition to the beautiful town of Opelika where you will find warm, friendly folks, you will also find a beautiful downtown historic railroad town. Should you need medical attention, our home is 1 mile from one of the best hospitals in the south, East Al Medical center. Come and stay and find out why Opelika is one of the BEST places to retire! Welcome!
