Very peaceful and quiet, cosy wood burner fire and good central heating
We had a lovely 3 night stay in this comfortable cosy cottage in the lovely village of New Galloway.
The cottage was nice and warm, very clean, and the bed / furniture was very comfortable.
The very generous welcome pack of bread, butter, milk and a bottle of wine was a lovely surprise!
Also fantastic countryside .... we're sure to be back!!

We stayed for a week over Christmas and we were very warm and comfortable.
We stayed for a week over Christmas and we were very warm and comfortable. There was a lovely Christmas tree and we enjoyed the welcome pack left for us. The property itself was well equipped although my partner would have wished for a whisky tumbler. He finds drinking a special malt from a wine glass disappointing. We have learned now to carry one with us. However the quality of the kitchen knives were the best we've ever used in the numerous properties we have stayed in. A special mention for a super night's sleep in a lovely comfortable bed.The days were short but we visited Loch Ken, the red deer range, Newton Stewart, Castle Douglas and Threave Castle. I'm sure if it wasn't for the Christmas lights the night sky would be spectacular. From what we could see the stars were amazing.
Overall a lovely cottage suitable for our needs. Good facilities & great peaceful location. On arrival it could have been a bit cleaner. It could do with a better working vacuum cleaner & the dust section was full when we tried to use it. Decor could do with updating. The bathroom could do with a towel rail & an extractor fan or easier access to open the window.
Great location and decent price for what you get. Appreciated nice clean bedding, the basics already available in the kitchen along with actually sharp knives, and a nice touch to be welcomed with some biscuits coffee and milk available to get started. Thank you.We were initially thrown by first impressions, the door handle is a bit rickety, the entrance hall has a sunken sag in the floor, the air fresheners plugged in were on full whack and that just gives me headaches, along with some cleaning needed in more tucked away corners etc. However everything worked well, the house aired out nicely, WiFi good, and WiFi on TV allowed Netflix etc. Nice neighbour and great community corner shop up the road. Good communications once we had a direct line to the host.Given that I was booking on VRBO I didn't expect to deal with a company etc. It’s all arranged through Cottages UK and this meant messaging was quite disconnected, lots of auto replies and little response to request for info unless you called them directly (on the phone they were good). Difficult to navigate messages to find check in detail from cottages uk email and VRBO; and just ended up needing to call to quite last minute get the owners number to confirm arrival. The owner was helpful, prompt and clear in correspondence. Overall just found it awkward getting info via a third party and a lot more robotic, just what I thought I was avoiding using VRBO.
