About Doug and Liana Peachey
We're the Peacheys...LOL! We do believe you'll find the property 'just peachy', too!
Doug and Liana Peachey purchased this Cottage in 2016
Why Doug and Liana Peachey chose West Traverse
We fell in love with Harbor Springs and the surrounding communities our first visit years ago! When the opportunity arose to purchase this darling cottage, we were so excited....and are pleased to share with you, too! Such a peaceful place and yet so close to all the happenings of the town and area. It's perfect for 2...for you! We're adding 2 bedrooms and an upstairs bathroom this fall (Sept 2018). You'll want to come back and bring friends or family!
What makes this Cottage unique
The location just can't be beat! Walking distance to the theater, for example, is literally 1.5 blocks, dining, shopping and lakefront/marina begins in 2 blocks. We are directly behind the museum, and less than 2 blocks from homemade cookies! You needn't worry about parking because we offer a garage....something very unique for Harbor Springs! You'll also appreciate the privacy and tranquility of the garden area for afternoon sunning/reading/napping and evenings around the fire table.

My parents came to town and it was just the most perfect spot for them! Not only was it cozy and convenient to Main Street, but it was also great for entertaining a few friends in the courtyard by the fountain. What a peaceful little oasis! We loved it so much that we decided to keep it an extra two nights! Liana and Doug were so great and easy to work with, and we will definitely be renting from them again! :)
We so enjoyed your energy and love of the cottage! Just so you know, we've added a 'fire table' to further enhance the courtyard experience and provide a bit of warmth on cool evenings! Looking forward to hosting you and/or the parents again!
Fabulous stay in Harbor Springs
This home away from home exceeded any expectations we had. It was spotlessly clean, well appointed, attractively decorated (some great whimsical artwork) , and conveniently located in the heart of Harbor Springs. The queen bed is so very comfortable it was difficult to get up in the mornings. The lighting has variable switches, something I don't even have at home. The kitchen has everything needed to prepare meals in a home-like setting, with up-to-the-minute appliances. In addition to a dinner table, there is a counter with tall stools, and a small breakfast table with adorable saddle stools. The Keurig machine is awesome, and makes several different kinds of hot beverages. The backyard is a treat to the senses, with beautiful landscaping and a gas firepit, perfect for quietly sitting and visiting, or just relaxing. The property also has a very clean single garage, complete with bicycles, if you decide to take a spin around town. Don't worry about finding a laundromat, as there is a washing machine and dryer in the lower level. No need to pack a hair dryer, as one is available in the bathroom. It seems that no detail is overlooked to ensure the most pleasant lodging experience ever. The hosts are very attentive and respond promptly to any questions. It is safe to say that we did not want to leave.
The carriage house and gardens were beautiful.
It was the perfect place to stay. We loved the location, within walking distance of most everything. The carriage house was very nicely decorated and fit our needs well. We love the area and all it's beauty. We also appreciated the bikes and peaceful garden. They were a very nice touch to a perfect stay. Thank you for sharing your home.
Peaceful Retreat for sure...
This place is amazing! We were in town visiting family and decided to stay at this “Peaceful Retreat” for a few nights. Everything was as great as it looks and as it is described. Very clean, super comfortable and well stocked. It reminded me of home from the bedding to the dinnerware and even the light fixtures.
We walked to town 2-3 times a day to eat at local restaurants and walk through the shops. We even used the bikes that are provided and biked along the water and viewed the beautiful homes in Harbor Springs.
Really enjoyed sitting outside in the private side yard with the bubbling fountain.
Liana is very prompt and a joy to communicate with. We will definitely be staying here again.
This was definitely a peaceful retreat! Perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. Loved it here!!
This home is beautiful. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location is great and it is very private which made the experience extremely relaxing. We'd love to stay here again!
Beautiful, clean and quiet, and close to the heart of Harbor Springs
This was the perfect place for our Labor Day weekend in Harbor Springs. We are already looking forward to our return visit.
Summer visitors will enjoy shopping in downtown Harbor Springs, walking along the waterfront, and cycling through town and along the many biking trails.
The Farmers Market, local fudge makers and ice cream shops beckon to those 'little something' cravings. There are many great restaurants and bars to explore, all within a couple blocks.
Summer Market is Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:00 to 1:00 through Labor Day and then Saturdays only through mid-October.
The "Tunnel of Trees" offers outstanding day trips up M-119 to Cross Village and the historic Leggs Inn, while enjoying splendid views of Lake Michigan.
Fall season brings crisp air, vivid changing colors, apples, pumpkins, and wine tours.
In the winter, excellent skiing is only minutes away at Nub's Nob and Boyne Highlands!
A few recommendations of where to go:
Good Hart General store up M-119 for basics and touristy stuff as well as delicious prepared foods. The pot pies are to die for!
Legs Inn at Cross Village for a great menu featuring local Polish dishes or drinks in a unique atmosphere.
Sturgeon Bay beach for an uncrowded day along the water. Great for picnicking!
Gurneys Deli in Harbor Springs (combined with the liquor store but don't let that deter you) for the best sandwiches.
Turkey's in Harbor Springs for scrumptious pizza. Dine in and enjoy a wonderful salad, too.
Cupola in Harbor Springs for the most delightful ambiance and best breakfasts on the planet!
A quick run to Mackinac Island offers visiting the historic fort, bicycling around the island, horse drawn carriage tours, photo ops at Arch Rock, and of course the famous Grand Hotel...a few things that will fill a day!
And for getting outdoors, try guided horseback riding at Boyne Highlands www.boyne.com
