Get away needed
We had a pleasant, peaceful stay. Everything pretty much as pictured and described. Belinda very punctual and helpful. Locals are wonderful, very nice and helpful. Did some fishing , hiking ,gold panning and some serious relaxing in the hot tub.
There's nothing like having the soothing sound of a rushing stream just outside your window or gazing at the millions of stars shining brightly in the night sky while fireflies flash in the fields. This mountain retreat was everything I needed.
The fishing was excellent..
If you are looking for a safe secure property for fishing this is it. The hot tub is a big bonus.
Perfect getaway in beautiful surroundings
We enjoyed our long weekend at this property and definitely plan to return. The cabin is clean and decorated with a woodsy theme without being overwhelmingly kitschy. Beds were comfortable. Some rental properties have linens and towels that are a little worn from frequent use but these were very nice and in good shape - felt more like staying at a friends home. The kitchen was pretty well stocked, including coffee beans and grinder, brita water filter pitcher and ice cream maker which were nice perks. Some basics (condiments, spices, etc) were available for use. There is a charcoal grill on the deck that was more than adequate for the meals we cooked and the fire pit was perfect for some hot dog roasting and s'mores.
The biggest perk, of course, is the location. The creek that runs right through the back yard was beautiful and the sounds of water babbling downstream over large stones was a constant lovely background. The water was COLD, but refreshing - we waded in a few times and one of our pups enjoyed a quick swim. Towels for the pups and blankets to cover the couches and chairs in the living room were provided, which made us able to keep things clean. Despite being a pet friendly cabin, there was absolutely no tell tale sign of previous pet visitors. The front yard is very large and flat - plenty of room for cornhole or other outdoor games.
The hot tub was clean and all jets worked - it's in a perfect location with a view of the stream and secluded from the road/neighbors and has a roof overhead so we could enjoy even with a little drizzly rain.
When we first arrived we were surprised how close the neighboring cabin seemed, BUT between the sound of the water, many many trees and plants as well as the location of both backyards at an angle meant we very rarely ever saw a glimpse of the neighbors and never heard them at all. We really felt this was a very private and secluded getaway.
Communication with the owner was excellent - very prompt response to our request to stay as well as follow ups to any questions we had. Information provided pre-stay as well as the book in the cabin providing detail on amenities and instructions were very clear.
Peaceful and serene
Quiet comfortable cabin with rushing creek/stream/brook in the backyard, plus an added bonus of daily afternoon farm animal "parade" just across the creek made for a nice mountain getaway!
Whitewater Rafting, world-class Motorcycling and a Casino!
I bought this cabin as a second home when I lived in Atlanta. After I retired, I bought a home in nearby Marble, on 24 acres. I decided to keep the cabin as rental property. I wanted to enjoy the creek, hot tub, and other unique qualities of the property and also share it with others. It is still my favorite place to go to enjoy nature and relax.
Belinda purchased this Cabin in 2004
Why Belinda chose Murphy
Murphy is close to many areas of interest and is easily accessible year-round by auto, private plane or motorcycle. This beautiful, peaceful area, situated in the Nantahala Region of the Great Smokey Mountains, is unique in its rich history, serenity and beauty. This area is a well-kept secret and a very special place to visit.
What makes this Cabin unique
You can dig your own worms and enjoy Trout fishing in the back yard (wading boots and fishing poles at cabin). Grill your catch just feet away from the creek and eat your catch on the covered deck next to the creek. Then relax in the large hot tub by the creek or sit around a camp-fire and roast marshmallows. You can splash in the creek and pan for gold (supplies available at cabin).
