We disassembled an 1850 vintage log house and moved it a mile and reassembled it on our 163 acre farm in middle Tn . Just 50 miles west of Nashville. We added onto it and took us two yrs to complete the project. We used all reclaimed wood on the inside . It is one of a kind and a very unique property with chestnut oak and poplar thru out the house. It is now ready for rent. It sets above a creek, with easy access. Private 163 acres of woods with bicycling and walking trails. Be one of the first to experience the history of these old handhewn logs . Enjoy our huge outdoor fire pit. We cut the wood . You light the fire!!!!

About Jerry crawford
We are retired bankers from Nashville.
Jerry crawford purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2014
Why Jerry crawford chose Houston County
Old house was on the property when I bought it, so I moved it to save and restore. It is one of a kind with so much detail in finishing the home. Decorating it was a blast according to my wife. Watch out for the brown bear standing in the dogtrot.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
Private 163 acres to explore. Joins a private 2000 acre game preserve . Visit old house site where the cisterns still intact with cold spring water running 24 hrs a day. Set in rocker on front porch with a glass of wine and chill out while sun goes down and watch kids play in the creek. Very serene.

Amazing location, away from the crowds and a wonderful cabin to call home
I booked this trip for my family that spread out over 4 generations. Jerry and his wife went above and beyond any expectation I could have imagined to make my family feel welcomed and taken care of as I was not able to accompany them on this trip. It was intended to make memories, but from the stories I heard it did much much more than that.
The cabin itself is a master piece of fine craftsmanship that can be appreciated from the outside to the inside, down to the smallest detail. The porches, the fire pit, the decorations, the landscaping, the trails to explore, the spacious accommodations were unlike anything you will ever expect. The feeling of being home while on vacation becomes a given at this magical place and you don’t want to leave. In fact, it was said that the eldest member of the generations could live out her remaining days here and would be better prepared for the glories that heaven has to offer, cause it felt like she was already in heaven by the end of the trip.
Not only was the place itself wonderful, but you get the entire package with the attentiveness of the owners. This started out as a last minute trip to end the summer, it became so much more. We will be back!
Sherry, thanks so much for the great review. Janice and I felt like we were part of a family reunion.. you have a lovely family even down to little Reggie who was an adult in a three year old body. . We enjoyed them so much. Can’t believe they got so much done in such a short stay . From visiting Loretta Lynn’s farm to riding our Mule all over our 163 acres to antique shopping and to enjoying the outside . Firepit and cooking Reggie hot dogs and marshmallows. On the pit. Tell Abie next time she needs to come a day early where she can help me cut firewood. Again thanks for visiting us and we’re glad they all had a great time . Enjoyed Grandma telling her stories about the old days. We had so much in common. Please come back and bring hubby . We can look for Indian artifacts. And talk hunting. Thanks again. Jerry and Janice.
Comfortable and Beautiful Restored Cabin in a Peaceful, Natural setting
This place is an amazing place to stay whether for a couple, a family or a group of up to 10 people. Its an old renovated and restored log house that is very authentic and has a lot of character, comfort, and charm. Every detail is taken care of from the TV's with lots of movie and cable stations, to a washer and dryer to the fully equipped kitchen, the owners Jerry and Janice have paid attention to every little detail which will make your stay a very memorable one.
The grounds are well kept and there are deer and wild turkeys on the property, lots of trails, and a creek for the kids to swim in. The front porch has a swing and a hammock. You can relax or hike, or take the "mule" out for a spin. There are 3 full baths and the beds are very comfortable. What I thought was very interesting was all the taxidermy animals on the walls and everywhere, quite cool to see them all and try to figure what they were... The owners are very accommodating and stay only a mile or two away should you need anything. Overall this is a great deal for a week or a weekend getaway.
DeDe, thanks for the kind words. We so enjoyed having you for your songwriters retreat. Congrats on writing the three songs. Glad you enjoyed yourself and we want you to come back anytime you in Nashville. Loved your songs and Thks for the cd and goodluck in all your endeavors .
What a Great Place
It was such a Beautiful place! The inside and outside was gorgeous!! The craftsmanship and beautiful decor was homey and welcoming. Jerry and Janice didn’t miss a thing...even saved us fresh tomatoes from the garden in the back yard!! We saw wild turkey and deer. Fished in the creek, & for us Arizona people it was a treat to see Fire Flies too! It was a perfect vacation and we can’t wait to make it back next year!!!
Thank y’all for the kind words . We enjoyed having y’all. Thanks for taking good care of the property. Love to have y’all back and congrats to DJ on nbr four and eight finish in the nation on the motocross race
This is no ordinary cabin in the woods
We had a couple of requirements (comfort, nature, water) needed for a successful getaway weekend and from the looks of the Yellow Creek Log Cabin Retreat we might have found it. Boy, did we ever...
From the moment we crossed the creek and opened the front door we were blown away at the detail and craftsmanship that had carefully gone into the re-construction of this beautiful old Tennessee cabin. We were fortunate enough that Jerry and Janice (the owners) were able to meet us and give us a quick tour.
Everywhere we looked we were met with the beautiful tones of walnut, oak, maple, pecan, and tobacco stained boards and beams. As Jerry explained how they had moved this piece of history log by log to it's current perch on top of a hill overlooking the creek below you could feel his optimism and pride.
The idea of a cramped, dingy cabin immediately dissapeared as the entryway opened into the cathedral ceilings of the living area, giving the space an openness reminescent of a hunting lodge twice it's size. On the walls, were the incredible trophies of game, fish and fowl from Jerry's adventures all over the world as a professional guide and outfitter, and a giant brown bear we called "harry" loomed tall beside the stone fireplace.
The small but comfortable kitchen was outfitted with everything you could possibly need. From the Keurig and Hotpoint coffee makers to the dishes, utensils and supplies, it was like we were at home.
Another suprising feature was the appliances and electronics. Everything was top of the line and in perfect working order. The TV's, located throughout the house, (if you choose to use them) were outfitted with DISH network and the internet (Hughe's Net) although slow, was capable of the only tasks you should be doing in a place like this.
The new firepit, with fresh cut wood and kindling, was a hit with the kids as was the functional self service outhouse. We could've stayed in the cabin and never ventured outside and been perfectly satisfied.
But... the outdoor experience was what we enjoyed most. We were able to roam the trails with Kawasaki Mule, wade the creeks, hunt indian relics, and swim and fish in the deeper pools of the Yellow Creek branch located nearby.
What truly made the trip unique was Jerry and Janice and their desire to share the home they had worked so hard on with others.
If you want an experience that will transport you back in time, yet still offers the conviences you expect. You've found it
WOW. I’m humbled by your kind words . It’s evident that you can relate to the 2 yr and 3 months of labor to complete this project. You got me fired up I think we may rent it this weekend. Thanks again and we sure enjoyed y’all . Next time bring Mama. Come back soon . You left a five lb smallmouth under that log in the weeds. Jerry and Janice.
Perfect place to relax!
This property is perfect! Plenty of room both inside and outside. A quiet setting away from it all but close enough to town to get anything you might need. The cabin is beautiful! And the fire pit outside is magnificent! I would spend every night here if I could! Thanks for your hospitality, Jerry!
Thanks for your kind words we really enjoyed having you all too. I have already cut your firewood for the outside firepit for you to enjoy on your return trip. And your next stay . Jerry Crawford .
We enjoyed staying in the cabin and having the access to the land to explore nature!!! Highly recommend this cabin for people wanting to get away and enjoy nature and each other!!!!
