Locals love the yearly Llanfair Caereinion Carnival, which passes through the town with a full parade of floats and dancing groups to recreate the carnival atmosphere of Rio. Welshpool is tucked away in the upper slopes of the lovely Severn Valley, not far from the Welsh-English border. This thriving market town is surrounded by lush, unspoiled farmland and rolling hills. Along with the rebuilt cock fighting pit and intriguing Heritage Trail in the town centre, there is a distinctive mix of stores selling arts and crafts, fashion and leisure, fresh produce, and great pubs and restaurants.
