Cosy Coastal Cottage close to Beach - pet-friendly

Joan's Cottage is situated on the World Heritage Jurassic Coast in the heart of the charming seaside resort of Charmouth, which is one of the best beaches for finding fossils. Organised fossil hunts run throughout the year. Located on the main street, with private parking, the beach and amenities are within a short walking distance, making it a fantastic location for your holiday on the south coast.

The cottage is approx. 400 years old, with lots of character & has been sympathetically decorated & furnished. The Master Bedroom (on the first floor) has a memory foam mattress & has en-suite a second bedroom which has a small double bed is on the ground floor this also has a memory foam mattress and the second bathroom is also found on the ground floor. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS IS AN OLD COTTAGE AND HAS STEEP STAIRS TO THE UPSTAIRS BEDROOM. There is a well equipped Kitchen and dining area. Please be aware that as this is an old cottage, the stairs to the master bedroom are quite steep, I have shown a photo. The cottage has private car parking & is only a 5 minute walk to the beach. On arrival a key is located in a key box to enable you to arrive at a time that suits you (after 3.00 pm).

Joan's Cottage is for Adults only, we no longer accept Children.

There are 2 dog friendly pubs in Charmouth both serving food, the village also has a Chemist, small supermarket, bakery fish & chip take-away which is a few yards from the cottage front door. Everything you need for a self-catering holiday is just outside the front door! Please don't forget to add your dog to your reservation.

The cottage is ideally located for visiting local villages and seaside towns, the bus stop is approximately 100 yards from the cottage front door so you can leave your car at the cottage if you don't want to drive.

During the summer months there are always village fetes, village shows, street markets etc there's a real buzz about the area, Charmouth is not as busy as Lyme Regis but just as lovely, that's why I live here :-)

Used for a meeting point between ourselves and friends. The accommodation was clean and very quaint and ideal for our use. The welcome letter was very touching and the compliments left i.e. milk, butter bread etc was a pleasant surprise.With the fish and chip shop and pubs along the road meant that we did not have to cook during our stay. Short walk to the beach and the seashore was very pleasant we would use the accommodation again without hesitation.

Very lovely cottage. Safe and secure parking at the back. Located on the main road, but well insulated with double glazing from road noise. A short walk to local grocery shop (had fresh fruit and vegetables, and bacon and sausages from a local butcher), cafe, and 2 pubs, plus a great general store (Morgans) which was a life saver when we ran out of calpol and the local pharmacy was closed! All facilities available to make food at home, and i easily managed a home cooked easter sunday roast with fish bought from a visit to Lyme Regis a 9min drive away. Internet was very slow, but worked, saying this i had 5G phone signal throughout the cottage and switched to this when i needed. We visited Charmouth beach daily, (10-15min walk) and came back for lunch and dinner at home or in town as the offerings on the beach were very basic. Beds are memory foam and comfortable. Main bedroom is spacious with a generous sized bathroom (no baths). House is warm and was great to come back to from the colder rainier days we had. Very enjoyable stay would recommend to all. Will very likely visit again.

Joan's Cottage is just a 5 minute walk from Charmouth beach (which is dog friendly), a stones throw away from a bus stop if you would rather have some else do the driving and is perfectly placed for visiting Dorset villages and Devon villages. All the local amenities you require are on the cottage door step. The cottage has free Wi-Fi and car parking.
