About Joe Hueffed
I have lived in the Seattle area and have spent summers in Suquamish my entire life. My wife and I recently restored this historic property after it had been abandoned for many years. As a child, our family was friends with the Puget Sound Pilot who owned the cabin and enjoyed it as a summer home. I hope you enjoy your stay at this unique, rare, historical Puget Sound beach cabin.
Joe Hueffed purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Joe Hueffed chose Suquamish
This is one of the few waterfront Puget Sound cabins which is truly on the water. Remotely secluded down a boardwalk from the street. Enjoy listing to the waves just feet from the living room, or sleep under the stars on the deck or lawn covered bulkhead beside the Puget Sound. Just 90 - 120 minutes to from downtown Seattle, the property is easily accessible without enduring airports or excessive traffic from downtown Seattle.
What makes this Cabin unique
The cabin, porch and private lawn are immediately adjacent to Puget Sound! Access via boat, with moorage via anchor or buoy is available. There are no other homes immediately on the beach for several hundred yards both directions, North and South. The area is popular for kayaks and small boating. Dungeness and Red Rock Crab are very plentiful here. During Fall months, salmon may be caught by casting right from the beach. Bald Eagles, Blue Herons and porpoises often cruise along the beach. At night Sea (River) otters frequent the area. Winter months bring a variety of ducks and other migratory birds.

Great location and experience.
Loved watching the porpoises and other sea life each morning. Cabin was comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked.
What a place, a true hidden gem!!!
We knew we picked the right place as soon as we walked started walking down the path to the cabin. Everything was perfect from the pathway to the cabin, from the decorations to the fire pit right on the water. We will return every year for sure. Joe was an incredible host, the place was set up perfectly and clean. He checked in to make sure there were no problems gaining access. WE LOVED THIS PLACE!!
One note - the walkway down to the cabin is quite steep (there are stairs and a ramp but some steep sections do not have this) and the bedrooms are up in a loft that is accessible by a ladder. As such, those with mobility problems may have difficulty getting to and from the property.
Thank you for opening your home and sharing this truly unique property with us Joe!

My new home away from home
I was looking for a quick get away for my husband and myself, one that didn’t require a long drive and also a place we could take our dog without it costing and arm and a leg. I was lucky and found this place. Sitting in ferry line was the long part of the trip but what is a summer in the Seattle area with out an hour spent in ferry line. I was prepared for the hike down to the cabin since every one spoke about it in their reviews. I would recommend tennis shoes on the trip down; my flip flops were a bit slippy. We had pretty much decided that we would take all of our stuff down and stay until it was time to leave. Which is exactly what we did. It was a weakened to refresh. We sat outside and just enjoyed the sound of the water and looking for wild life. The day we arrived it was 80 plus degrees. I cooked a dinner. The kitchen had just what I needed. And sharp knives. Day two started out with rain, but still really nice to just sit on the covered porch and enjoy the quiet. The weather improved and we spent the entire day sitting outside. Don’t think you are going to sleep in the birds will wake you up and on our last morning the harbor seals decided to give us a show and woke us up as they were splashing and playing a great way to start the day. I recommend bringing binoculars it was the best way to see the harbor porpoise, and there were a lot of them. I didn’t see an otter. My dog is very active and thought that I was throwing a ball and she jumped off the sea wall and landed on the beach below (over 5 feet drop) she was ok but if you have a nutty dog keep and eye on them. The unit is VERY clean and has everything you need for cooking; I always bring my own spices and what not but there were some basics there. bring your own containers for storage. There are plenty of towels. We did bring our own beach chairs, but there are 4 of the plastic kind so it isn’t necessary unless you have a chair you really like. The one thing that I wasn’t completely aware of is the steep climb up to the sleeping area. I don’t know if I over looked it when I read about the property but it is steep, a bit like a ladder. It could be an issue for some people. We loved the place and plan a return visit.
I never tired of the view. Great location.
Thank you for the wonderful father's day and birthday vacation!
