Fantastic, Fun Property. Will Rent Again.

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cabin for a ski trip with several 16-18yo youth. We were able to sleep 20 comfortably. It's just a short drive off the main road, so it is very easy to access. The billiards and ping pong kept the youth entertained, and there was ample sleeping room for everyone. We have already booked this cabin again for our ski trip this year.

Terrific property in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

This property is a superb choice if you want to leave the world behind and live at your own pace for a while without sacrificing comfort. The two-tier porch is a great way to enjoy some nice rustic comfort on nice days, and the interior is terrific when you get too hot/cold. A nice fire pit in the back adds to the general rustic feel. There are some truly breathtaking views very close by, as well as Glen Canyon national park if you’re willing to drive 90 minutes or so.

Dirty and costly

  • 3 of 5

We spent 3 days during Thanksgiving holiday, and it was ok. The altitude is high, so your short of breath and your heart beats hard. We weren't prepared for that. I wasn't emailed an entry code for the door. I contacted the property management for a temp code. The door locked us in several times in 3 days. There is no tv services. [Tv's aren't connected to anything].The main tv has apple tv with a few apps, but the internet was down when we arrived which required another contact to property management. With a slow response of 1.5hr she contacted internet provider and it was restored. When renting this property you're required to sign a very threatening rental agreement. (Never had to do that with VRBO.) With threats of immediate eviction if property management or owner feels you may be disruptive. They reinforce this with several emails prior to arrival. It's not welcoming at all. The older woman in the house behind us was watching us through the trees in the backyard. She didn't say anything she just watched us for a while and then walked back to her home. The property was not checked prior to arriving. The outside tables were filthy. Covered in dirt. It appeared no one had been there for a while. The porch area and all the patio furniture were covered in dirt and leaves. Cobwebs were everywhere. I had to spend 2 hours of vaca time cleaning the outdoor area before we could have Thanksgiving dinner outside. The inside of the home is far too small to serve our family dinner. The inside also was not fully cleaned. You are required to wash your own dishes with no dishwasher. I was pulling dirty dishes out of the cabinets and drawers all 3 days. I had to hand wash all the dishes we used prior to using them. One burner of the stove did not work. I reported these issues to the management, and recieved no response. I should mention you pay an additional fee for this property management company. You're also required to dump your own trash. The dumpster is about 1mile down the road. If you do not you'll be charged a trash removal fee. Which is in the lease you receive after you pay. Lease isn't available prior to pmt.The area is pretty but for what we paid for three days I could have rented a much better place in Hawaii. I'm giving it three stars because the beds are very comfortable, there were activities for the kids to do like pool, ping pong, board games and it was fairly comfortable dispite small kitchen and living area. Won't be returning

Owner's Response: This cabin is new to the rental market (fall 2017) There are reviews for this cabin on other reviews systems that are very positive. As a company we have 1000's of reviews across many different review systems with an average of 4 - 5 stars. If there is a problem we address it right away and make it right. Feel free to reach out to us directly before judging this cabin on this one review. To make this easier I will list the responses to the main concerns this guest had during their stay. - Duck Creek Village is at 8500 ft elevation which is lower then some of the surrounding areas, but usually drinking water will help with any altitude issues. - Arrival instructions including the door code is emailed two weeks before stay and then again the day before. Plus, we usually text all incoming guest to make sure they received the arrival information prior to departing from home. - The door does automatically lock every night around 9:30pm for safety of the guests and the property. It only locks the door if it is not locked. Guests have loved this feature in the past as it provides security and peace of mind. - DirecTV has been installed and stove has been replaced. since this guest stay. - In the mountains the current (11/2017) top internet speed is 15mbps regardless where you stay (there is only one provider in our area). - Our standard rental agreement has been used for years with no prior issues. The rental agreement is sent once and not multiple times. - Past guests have not complained about neighbors staring at them, but we will check into this. - We have addressed housekeeping to make sure the inside is perfect. - During the stay we where in constant communication with guest. - There is not an extra fee for renting this cabin by the management company. VRBO charges a service fee for all properties listed on VRBO. This might be what they are talking about. - There is not local trash pick up on the mountain. All cabins require trash to be taken to the local dumpsters.
