Acerca de este alojamiento
Kinnen Cottage - a cottage that sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms
Situated in a quiet cul de sac in the peaceful town of Creetown, Kinnen Cottage offers comfortable and cosy accommodation which has been finished to a high standard. The suntrap garden is the perfect place to relax after a day of adventuring to discover the many delights of this wonderful coastline and contrasting landscapes of natural beauty.
This small rural town is home to Creetown Gem Rock Museum and cafe, where you can view its collection of rare and beautiful crystals from around the world.
South West of Scotland is well known for its mild climate, attractive unspoilt countryside and for the diversity of the outdoor and recreational pursuits. The area is renowned for golf, birdwatching, fishing, walking and the many beautiful gardens of South West Scotland. Logan Botanic Gardens, Castle Kennedy and Threave Gardens are all within easy reach as well as many smaller gardens and nurseries.
An ideal destination for active families, the local area is a natural playground. A short drive or a cycle ride along National Cycle Route 7 takes you to Cairnsmore of Fleet National Nature Reserve, one of the wildest areas within South West Scotland and a site of Special Scientific Interest within the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere. The area boasts a wide range of wildlife habitats with peregrine falcon, hen harriers and red deer often seen and is a wildlife enthusiasts paradise. Not for the feint hearted is the Graham from which the reserve takes its name - Cairnsmore of Fleet, rising 711m in elevation, from the top are the most spectacular views which on a clear day can include the Isle of Man and Ailsa Craig off the Ayrshire coast.
Nearby Newton Stewart offers all the usual facilities of a small rural town including numerous places for eating out, a cinema, swimming pool at the Merrick Leisure Centre and major supermarkets. The town is heralded as the ‘gateway' to Galloway Forest Park, the first designated Dark Sky Park in Britain covering over 300 square miles and offers unsurpassed opportunities for walking and cycling with one of the 7 Stanes sections located at Kirroughtree. Wildlife watching opportunities abound and of course amazing star gazing! Loch Ken Activity Centre, the Galloway Red Deer Range and Bellymack Hill Red Kite Feeding Station all lie within the Forest borders and each offer fantastic family activities.
Wigtown, Scotland's National Book Town is only a 20-minute drive west from Creetown, and hosts regular events including the extremely popular Book Festival each Autumn. Also within a short drive are Bladnoch Whisky Distillery and Visitor Centre and Port Logan Fish Pond, a 200 year old sea fish larder near Port Logan home to wide variety of local marine life and has a fascinating history.
Dumfries and Galloway as a whole is renowned for its unspoilt beaches. Whether you travel east or west of Creetown, a day on the coast never fails to please, with some of the most popular destinations including Mossyard, Monreith and St Medans, Sandhead and Ardwell Bay.
