Violet Cottage consists of a kitchen/diner with an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, a dining area, and a sitting room with woodburning stove and TV. The bedrooms consist of a double and a twin, serviced by a bathroom. Outside, there is a rear enclosed private garden with lawn, patio, and furniture plus roadside parking avaialble on first-come, first-serve basis. Two well-behaved dog welcome, but sorry, no smoking. WiFi, fuel, power, starter pack for woodburning stove, bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Shop 0.6 miles, pub 0.9 miles, river 0.6 miles. Travel cot and highchair available on request. Explore the beauty of Cumbria's coast and countryside with a stay at Violet Cottage. Note: The neighbour has a right of access to his garden at the rear and for weekly refuse collection.

Dearham has a thriving community, with four public houses including The Old Mill Inn and The Ploughman, a Post Office/village shop, a fish and chip shop, a hairdresser, a petrol station and a locally renowned pie shop - The Cottage Pie. The countryside offers dramatic panoramic views across this constantly changing landscape to the Loweswater Valley and mountains beyond, including imposing Grassmoor. The nearby rugged coastline of the Solway Firth is within a short drive, and the dramatic coastal route south to Ravenglass and beyond is one of the more scenic and peaceful journeys in the UK. The nearby market town of Cockermouth is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame), with Wordsworth's Georgian family home, set on the main street, now a popular visitor attraction owned by the National Trust. Cockermouth boasts a variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, with the area renowned for the beautiful scenery and superb walking in the northern lakes around Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water.
