Brookside, Hawkshead is located on the edge of the popular Lake District village. Hawkshead has it all, cobbled streets, white washed buildings, eateries, independent shops and friendly village inns. Located on the edge of the village but within a short walk of the centre, Brookside has its own private parking, an added bonus for the car free village and garden ideal for lazy summer days. Perfect for a family or couples looking for a base from which to explore the western shores of Lake Windermere with Hilltop, Beatrix Potters farm, its connections to William Wordsworth, the Hawkshead Chocolate Factory, the Lakes Aquarium and other attractions all within a short drive.

The spacious house has a welcoming sitting room with comfy seating arranged around the electric wood burning stove and TV. Rustle up family feasts in the dining kitchen with everything needed to prepare a delicious home cooked meal including a gas Rangemaster with electric double oven, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. Enjoy leisurely breakfasts at the dining table while you plan your day ahead. The second sitting room is perfect for the kids to enjoy their own TV or to escape to a quiet place with the latest novel. There is also a ground floor cloakroom with shower to freshen up.

The first floor has 2 double bedrooms and a twin bedroom each promising a restful nights sleep. The modern bathroom has a shower over bath.

All gas, electric, bed linen and towels provided. Cot and highchair available. Private parking for 3 cars and EV charger (supplement payable). Garden with patio area with dining table and chairs for al fresco dining or relaxing with a glass of wine on a summers evening.

LOVELY STAY IN HAWKSHEAD

LOVELY WELL EQUIPPED COTTAGE ONLY A MINUTE OR TWO FROM THE LOCAL CO-OP AND SOME LOVELY PUBS AND A GORGEOUS FRENCH RESTAURANT. THE COTTAGE HAS EVERYTHING YOU NEED AND IS TUCKED AWAY FROM THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE OF THE TOWN. CORRESPONDING WITH CUMBRIAN COTTAGES WAS EFFORTLESS WHEN WE HAD AN ISSUE, WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOOKING THIS COTTAGE.

Brookside Cottage

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely spacious cottage. The cottage was larger than anticipated and has plenty of space for 5 adults. The large garden was an added bonus. The cottage had everything we needed for a weeks stay and is perfectly situated on the edge of Hawkshead, only a couple of minutes walk to plenty of pubs and shops.

Fabulous Brookside

This must be the first time that we have rented holiday accommodation in the lake District where we have not been disappointed. The house was so comfortable and warm when we arrived, yes, the central heating was on set at 18 degrees C. What impressed us most was that everything worked, nothing need adjusting or fiddling with. The rooms are very comfortable and the bathrooms have ready supply of hot water and good water pressure so a shower is a pleasant experience. There is a massive fully equipped kitchen with double doors that open out onto a patio and beautiful garden - just perfect for relaxing with a drink in the evening sun. Would we recommend this place, yes of course but don't tell anyone otherises we might not get in!

Recent family stay

Just back from a wonderful, relaxing, 4 day break at Brookside. It is our first family break with our daughter, son in law and 3 year old grandaughter. We were delighted with the property. So much room for us all and the garden is just a delight with a large lawn and mature shrubs and trees. Our grandaughter whipped off her shoes as soon as we arrived and was romping around barefoot in the grass. There was ample parking for our 2 cars which is a bonus and necessary for us as my husband has mobility issues. All of the bedrooms were a good size and the house having 2 sitting rooms is a bonus. There is also a handy shower in the downstairs cloakroom. The kitchen is large and has everything needed, including a lovely range cooker. The property was very clean, bright and welcoming. The beds were so comfortable and we all slept very well. It is quiet and peaceful yet just a few munutes stroll from Hawkshead village which has plenty of tea shops, pubs and local artisan shops as well as a convenient Co Op. There is also a little playground near the local school which was well received by our grandaughter. We found local people very friendly and welcoming. We were lucky to have such lovely weather and made the most of this, booking a boat for a trip on the Lake and also visiting Beatrix Potter World with our grandaughter. Just be aware that parking in Windermere is a nightmare! I found communication with Cumbrian Cottages excellent. They were very helpful when I had a hiccup with the booking.

Brookside was booked by me for our adult son with Autism who was being taken on holiday by two of his carers from his residential home.Although I didn’t actually see the cottage myself I chose it for the location being near to amenities and in particular the chip shop! Reports back to me were appreciative of the cleanliness, roominess and having a second TV and quiet room where our son could spend much needed alone time and quiet times. They had a fantastic, relaxing and happy time. Although I didn’t personally see the cottage , all feedback to me was positive in that I had chosen the right place for the holiday and that it was all “Perfect”.
