Clare Cottage was a very comfortable stay in the best location. It is actually right in the heart of Ambleside but because it is on a narrow, windy and mostly residential street it gets very little traffic so is blissfully quiet. The views from the top floor bedrooms over the rooftops and chimneys to the hills beyond is wonderful - especially for watching the weather change.

Everything about Clare Cottage was as specified and met our expectations fully. The only problem being that we arrived in pouring rain and the location of the key box made it difficult to read the combination and release the key. Otherwise everything great

Cosy Cottage

Excellent location, well equipped, cosy cottage. With 5 adults and one teenager there was still plenty of room. Cottage was clean and welcoming. We got a bit mixed up with Compston Street and Road. Not because of directions but because we thought we knew best! Parking was a bit challenging so would recommend finding your spot and using the bus.

We’ve stayed here on a number of occasions. The location is excellent and the cottage has all the facilities we want. Comfortable living and dining areas. Well equipped kitchen. Two comfortable bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Always clean and fresh

perfectly peaceful

My family and I had a great stay at Clare Cottage. With an absolutely perfect location, we could walk to many restaurants within a few minutes. Parked the car for the week and used the buses which were frequent and inexpensive, would definitely come back.

Unhelpful management

Ambleside was hit with an unexpected heavy snowfall and roads were closed and hundreds of cars were stranded making it impossible for us to make our VRBO the first night. Management is unwilling to refund our first nights stay even thou we were told to turn around by mountain rescue

Lovely cottage in the heart of Ambleside

Ambleside is beautiful and this cottage is a great base to explore the Lake District. We had a wonderful 6-night stay. Excellent communication with the landlord both before and during the stay made it easy to get settled in and enjoy the holiday.

Great stay and location

Lovely cottage, clean, spacious and well equipped. It was central to Ambleside shops and restaurants, everything was a short 2 minute walk away. We were a family of 5 and found it very comfortable.

Fantastic break

Wonderful cottage with fantastic amenities and superb views from upstairs. Based on a quiet road right in the heart of Ambleside perfect for walks, shops,buses,crazy golf, cinema etc Highly recommended.

Great location. Clean property with everything you could need. Nice touch with welcome gift. Note steep steps to get to top two bedrooms. Would stay again with adults.

My review

This was a great spot to enjoy Ambleside. Moments walk from any place you’d like to go in town and the Town itself is central to awesome walks and hikes in any direction. Place was very clean upon arrival and owner was very responsive to any needs. We loved the place and really enjoyed the fireplace in the evening after hikes. Would love to come back.

Perfect location

Great location for everything Ambleside has to offer. As others have noted, getting parked on the street is pretty much impossible but didn’t cause a major issue for us. Cottage was very well heated & cosy. Didn’t really use the kitchen other than for breakfast so can’t comment on how well equipped it is but seemed to have everything you’d need.
