The bright, well-equipped kitchen is flooded with light from skylights, with sliding doors leading to outdoor seating. Beyond, a multi-level sub-tropical garden offers peaceful spots to unwind. Upstairs are a king & double bedroom, plus a spacious bathroom with walk-in shower. Free on-street parking.
The Space:
Dating back to 1851, this beautifully renovated Cornish miner’s cottage blends period charm with modern comfort, creating a welcoming retreat in Redruth. A traditional palisade fence frames the pretty front garden and leads you through the picturesque porch into the heart of the home.
Inside, the open-plan living and dining room feels instantly cosy, with a chaise lounge sofa, wood burner and smart TV for relaxed evenings. A thoughtfully chosen selection of books and games adds to the homely atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a day exploring Cornwall.
The space flows through to a light-filled kitchen, where skylights and floor-to-ceiling sliding doors flood the room with sunshine. Stylish retro Smeg appliances, a coffee machine and a Ninja food processor ensure the kitchen is as practical as it is eye-catching. Open the doors to step out onto the patio, ideal for al fresco dining or morning coffee.
Beyond, the classic sub-tropical Cornish garden is arranged over three levels, offering different spots to enjoy throughout the day. Find a deck chair on the second level. The upper level features a comfortable outdoor sofa set, perfect for relaxing with a book or a glass of wine.
Upstairs, you’ll find two inviting bedrooms: one king and one double, both tastefully furnished for a restful night’s sleep. They share a spacious bathroom with a luxurious walk-in shower and an elegant Neptune vanity unit.
For remote workers, you'll find a foldable desk and a comfortable chair under the master bed. These can be taken out as and when needed. For families, we have a travel cot and a high chair.
Free parking is available in bays positioned on the side of the main road, with one conveniently located directly outside. Which is usually free!
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the whole cottage and garden.
The Neighborhood:
This cottage in Redruth places you at the heart of Cornwall, perfectly positioned for exploring both the coast and countryside while enjoying the character of a historic Cornish town. With easy access to the A30, it's well-connected for travelling around Cornwall.
Redruth’s high street is lined with independent shops, cafés and local businesses, ideal for browsing and picking up unique finds. The beautifully restored Buttermarket is a vibrant hub for food, markets and community events. Find a wide selection of pop-up food vendors from some of Cornwall's best restaurants, live music and more. The newly opened Cooper’s Wine Bar offers a relaxed spot for drinks and light bites. For something truly Cornish, visit Redruth Meadery, serving traditional meads, rustic food and a medieval theme!
There is a Co-op grocery store a short walk away, with larger supermarkets on the outskirts of Redruth. You'll also find various other local food stores, such as fishmongers, butchers and bakeries.
Rising above the town is Carn Brea, one of Cornwall’s most iconic landmarks. A walk to the summit rewards you with sweeping views across the county, historic monuments and atmospheric ruins - perfect for sunrise or sunset walks. The area is one of Cornwall's richest for old mining buildings and is riddled with trails.
Redruth is also an excellent base for coastal adventures. The sandy beach at Portreath is around a 10-minute drive and popular for swimming and surfing. There are several great pubs and cafes here, including The Basset Arms, run by Carbis Bay Hotels. Porthtowan and St Agnes are around a 15-minute drive, offering dramatic cliffs, golden sands and excellent coastal walks.
For classic seaside charm, Falmouth boasts beaches, galleries and a lively harbour, while St Ives is renowned for its art scene, turquoise waters and picturesque streets. Both are around a 25-30-minute drive.
Nature lovers will enjoy long beach walks at Godrevy and Gwithian, with their wide sands, rolling dunes and iconic lighthouse views. They are around a 20-minute drive. These beaches also offer some of the best surfing in Cornwall, suitable for all levels. You'll find equipment hire at the beaches.
The South West Coast Path links all these locations, offering breathtaking walks along rugged cliffs and hidden coves. With history, culture, beaches and coastal paths all close by, Redruth makes an ideal base for a varied Cornish holiday.
Getting Around:
Due to the remote nature of Cornwall, we would recommend bringing a car for your stay. Free parking is available in bays positioned on the side of the main road, with one conveniently located directly outside. Which is usually free!
That said, Redruth is very well connected for public transport. The train station is less than a 10-minute walk from the cottage and goes all the way to London Paddington and beyond. It's also handy for travelling around Cornwall, stopping at popular destinations such as Hayle, St Ives and Penzance. You can also get to Falmouth via Truro.
Interaction with Guests:
We will be available via phone, message or email for the duration of your stay. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any queries!
