Olá and welcome to São Roque Holiday Suites on São Miguel, Azores. I’m your on-site host, a former European diplomat with a PhD in international relations who traded embassies and meetings for ocean views, hydrangeas, and helping guests make the most of their island time.
After almost twenty years working in foreign affairs, I moved to São Miguel and now personally manage three comfortable, well-equipped apartments just a few minutes from Ponta Delgada and the south coast beaches. I live locally, so I’m close by if you need anything during your stay, but I always respect your privacy and space.
I speak Portuguese, English and Hungarian, and I love sharing practical tips on island driving, lesser-known viewpoints, swimming spots, birdwatching, and good local food. Whether you are here to hike, surf, work remotely on fast Wi‑Fi, or simply slow down, my goal is to offer a calm base with honest information, responsive communication, and the small details that make travel easier.

Our apartments are in São Roque, a coastal neighborhood just a few minutes from Ponta Delgada on São Miguel’s south shore, with easy access by car to black-sand beaches, the seafront promenade, and everyday services. The area feels residential and local rather than touristy, so you can enjoy nearby cafés and simple restaurants and still be a short drive from the island’s famous viewpoints, hot springs and hiking trails.
My favourite aspects are being only a few minutes’ drive from São Roque and Pópulo beaches, the ocean views and light along the avenue, and how central the location is for exploring the whole island without long journeys. The south coast tends to be a little sunnier and more sheltered, which is ideal for relaxed swimming, while guests who enjoy surfing can easily reach the wilder north-shore beaches by car. On calm evenings, the combination of the Atlantic breeze, the sound of the waves and the local neighborhood atmosphere is exactly what I enjoy most about living and hosting here.

What makes our accommodation stand out is having an on-site host who lives on the property in São Roque, a quiet coastal neighborhood just a few minutes’ drive from Ponta Delgada and the south-coast beaches. Each apartment has its own unique design and character, with thoughtful details chosen to feel more like a lived‑in home than a standard rental, so returning at the end of the day feels cosy and personal. Guests also love the shared garden with grill and outdoor dining areas, which provides a green, quiet space to enjoy meals outside, have a coffee, read a book or unwind after exploring the island.
