From the moment you walk into “Legasea,” you’ll feel the weight of the world lifted off your shoulders. Whether upstairs or downstairs, you will sigh when you open the wide French doors to truly awe-inspiring views. The entire house is decorated with a soothing color palette and charming eclectic style.
This beachfront house has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and sleeps 7. You can choose to dine at the spacious kitchen counter, at the table by the windows opening to the breeze, or climb the stairs to the upper screen porch to enjoy the spectacular views with your dinner.
You can watch the sun rise from the king sized bed in the master bedroom, which connects to the screen porch and to the master bathroom.
The second upstairs bedroom contains a queen bed and a twin bed. The third bedroom, which contains a queen size bed, is downstairs next to the second bathroom. Beautifully decorated in ocean colors, both bedrooms enjoy gorgeous natural light.
Surrounded by beauty such as this, you’ll want to spend time just sitting and staring and taking it all in. Or lie in the hammock and gaze up at the tall pines as the gentle lap of the waves lulls you into a much-needed nap. Go a few more steps to your own beach deck with chairs and umbrella. Collect shells and explore living sea animals as you stroll the beach from Grassy Point to Stingray Point. Go fishing or cast a net off the dock or scoop up some blue crabs. Use the two kayaks provided to explore the area by water.
If you find you can’t entirely tear yourself away from civilization, the family room provides a Smart TV and DVD player with a variety of family movies. There is an additional TV upstairs in the master bedroom. Internet is provided and there is a landline telephone in case of emergencies.
On a natural beach on the “Forgotten Coast” of the Gulf of Mexico far from crowds and commercialization, the area around St. Teresa provides one of the most diverse eco-systems in North America. You may see dolphins, manatees, the exotic local white squirrels, and even the occasional Florida black bear, not to mention every kind of shore bird you can imagine.
Legasea is located within the Bay North gated community. Bay North contains its own swimming pool, tennis courts, and plenty of open space in which the kids can play if they tire of the beach. The children’s laughter as they play outside all day will take you back to when this was “Camp Weed,” a summer church camp.
When you visit Legasea, you’ll know that you’re in a truly unique place, and will understand why St. Teresa has been the most beloved spot in the world for generations of families.

About Caroline Francis
I was fortunate enough to spend the best parts of every summer at St. Teresa with my grandparents who built a little cottage here in the 1920's. No matter how the world was changing, the beauty and serenity of St. Teresa remained a constant in the lives of me and my family.
Caroline Francis purchased this House in 2012
Why Caroline Francis chose Franklin County
Sharing the old St. Teresa cottage with aunts and uncles and cousins was a lot of fun, but when we had a chance to buy our own place, we jumped on it! I always envied my Tallahassee cousins who were able to come visit St. Teresa more often throughout the year, and now count myself truly blessed to be able to spend more time here. It's been one of the greatest blessings of my life to watch yet another generation grow to love the beauty and simplicity of times gone by in this special place.
What makes this House unique
St. Teresa gives us a chance to really get away from it all. Being a beach and nature lover, I can stay outside all day and not even think about turning on the TV! Plenty of friends, however, prefer to bask by the pool, so the Bay North amenities offer a nice balance. When we first looked at the house from the back, we were not that impressed, but when we walked around to the front, it took our breath away. Having already been in love with St. Teresa, we loved the way this house is tucked back among the pines. We did a total renovation to transform this into our home, enlarging and modernizing spaces, changed the deck downstairs into a screen porch, and added an additional screen porch upstairs. Our favorite thing to do is to sit in the rocking chairs upstairs and look out at the changing of the tides. It's our hope that our "Legasea" to you will be the peace and contentment a stay at St. Teresa can bring.

This may be Florida's forgotten coast, but the "Legesea" is unforgettable.
The "Legasea" was amazing. It was so peaceful. No crowds. Just a great place to relax. Lale had everything covered and checked in with us when we arrived to make sure we were good to go. They thought of everything. Lale provided a binder filled with stories and things to do which included restaurants, where to get seafood and groceries and things to see nearby. We enjoyed reading about Lale's passion for the beach. Thanks for sharing. It was amazing to go to sleep with the french doors open and listening to the crashing waves and the feel of a night breeze. The white sandy beach was great for beachcombing for shells, crab, and starfish. There were plenty of chairs outside and on the porches for relaxing. My husband and dad enjoyed fishing off the pier in which they caught a few trout. Seafood was great. We went over to St. George Island, but the lighthouse was closed. Just another reason to return. Great small towns nearby like Apalachicola. If you love dogs and great little shops and restaurants this is the town for you. We went to Sopchoppy and went to Sand and Soul Designs. Beautiful jewelry and great people. We were told the Sopchoppy Pizza Company has amazing pizza, but that will have to be another time. Also stopped at George Griffin pottery. Personable guy and beautiful pottery. If you want a place to relax. "Legesea" is it. So hard to leave, but a place to return to.
The perfect home and the perfect week!
Everything about our stay was wonderful and made so easy by all of the many, well thought out details that Lale provided us prior to arriving and during our stay. The home is even more lovely than in the pictures, very clean, organized and stocked with everything you could possibly need for your stay. We had a great week and hope to return to Legasea sometime!
Thanks so much for your kind words. I'm so glad that Legasea at St. Teresa was all that you'd hoped for. Come back often!
The "Forgotten Coast" is far from crowds and commercialism. The beauty of natural, secluded beaches is the attraction. Though small, the Gulf Specimen Marine Lab nearby in Panacea is well worth the trip for young and old. There are a number of small fishing towns nearby, and Apalachicola, which offers quaint shopping and cultural activities is 40 minutes away.
