Set within a Grade II-listed manor house, the three-bedroom cottage sleeps six guests at Armathwaite, 10.5 miles from Carlisle and 11.5 miles from Penrith. Plan trips out to walk sections of famous Hadrian’s Wall Path, which can be joined about 11 miles away. Closer to home, discover the natural beauty of the Eden Valley. The scenic Lake District National Park begins about 12 miles from your base and offers a myriad of footpaths and trails to follow. You can plan a day out on the local Carlisle to Settle Train line which stops at Armathwaite. Head to Pooley Bridge, 18 miles away, at the tip of Ullswater, to stroll beside the lake or board a steam cruise. You can also hire canoes, kayaks and rowing boats and head out on your own to experience the serenity of the setting. The dramatic North Pennines are 5 miles from the property. There is are also two golf courses close by in Brampton and Penrith.
Make your way up towards your private quarters. Drive through the electric security gate to enter the courtyard and parking area. Step inside via the front door and find yourselves in elegant accommodation with a contemporary, country-style finish. From the hall, where there is a handy utility room and downstairs WC, amble on through to the lounge, with its beamed ceiling and French doors to the garden. While away pleasant evenings in here, chatting, reading your books or watching the Smart TV. The dining room, with its long wooden table and green garden views, also has French doors that can be pulled back on warm days. From here, wander into the adjoining large kitchen, where you can still see an old range oven fitted into an inglenook but you have two electric cookers for preparing hearty meals for your group. The kitchen also features a large central island, with a wine fridge. When you are ready to retire for the night, your elegant bedrooms await. These include three opulent super-king-sizes, all with en-suite shower rooms. One also features a free-standing copper bath, where you can soak in steaming bubbles within the bedroom itself. The other two have zip-and-link beds that can be made into twins by advance request. All the bedrooms have Smart TVs to allow you long, lazy mornings in bed.
Your gorgeous garden has a sunken private courtyard where you can gather to relax, dine between available 1st April- 30th September when Garden furniture and BBQ is available and weather is fine and soak in the hot tub, for which you have been given soft robes. Feel free to explore the shared grounds at your leisure too. There is private, off-road parking for three cars. There is a refundable security deposit of £400 to be paid directly to the owner prior to arrival.
