About this property

The Manor, Deal, Kent

Steeped in centuries of history and wonderfully welcoming, The Manor is the kind of place that brings generations together - a magnificent home where beautiful interiors, glorious gardens and endless space make every gathering feel truly special. Sleeping up to twelve guests across six bedrooms, this magnificent Grade II listed country house has all the ingredients for a special stay: grand reception rooms, roaring fireplaces, endless corners to explore, and gardens made for long summer afternoons. Whether you're planning a milestone celebration, a multi-generational family holiday, a Christmas gathering or simply an excuse to bring everyone together, The Manor offers space in abundance. Steeped in history, the house dates back to Tudor times and was later remodelled by renowned architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. Today, centuries of character remain woven throughout every room, from the carved lion-knockered front door and sweeping staircase to the wood-panelled walls, antique furnishings and original fireplaces. Inside, there is room for everyone to spread out. At the heart of the house is a stunning kitchen with an Everhot range cooker, generous island and plenty of space for cooking together, while the adjoining living and dining areas provide beautiful settings for celebrations both large and small. Upstairs, six thoughtfully arranged bedrooms provide flexible accommodation for families of all shapes and sizes. Four spacious double bedrooms are complemented by a wonderful children's room with bunk beds, trundle bed and toddler bed, and a smaller bedroom which can be used as a nursery or an extra double bedroom with a comfortable fold out double bed. The Manor is particularly well suited to larger family groups. Four bathrooms ensure there's no queue for a morning shower, while family-friendly touches including cots and highchairs make travelling with younger guests refreshingly easy. Outside, the gardens are every bit as impressive as the house itself. Originally designed with influence from Gertrude Jekyll and lovingly restored by the current owners, they unfold into a series of enchanting outdoor spaces. Wander through the walled rose garden, discover hidden seating areas tucked behind brick archways, enjoy afternoon tea beneath the gazebo or gather around the vine-covered pergola for leisurely outdoor feasts. Children will love the freedom of the expansive lawns and woodland corners, while adults can relax in the private sauna, warm up beside the fire pit or enjoy evening drinks beneath festoon lights as the sun sets. There's even an electric pizza oven for effortless outdoor entertaining. With parking for up to eight cars, plenty of space for everyone to gather and equal amounts of space to escape for a quiet moment, The Manor offers a rare combination of grandeur, comfort and family-friendly practicality. Just a short drive from the seaside charm of Deal and within easy reach of Kent's spectacular coastline, The Manor is far more than a holiday home - it's a destination in its own right.
