My Happy Place Beach House - Gulf Shores!

Let My Happy Place be yours! Come "LIVE" at the beach and enjoy the comfort of a renovated classic beach house with a 'live like a local' feel and a great canal lagoon view from the covered front porch. The large open family room/kitchen area is great for relaxing and lounging after a good day at the beach.

The home is located in the heart of the Gulf Shores Beach District on a dead-end street (no through traffic!), just 3 blocks west of the Hang-out and 2 blocks south of the public beach access (5 minute walk). It's close enough to walk/bike to everything Gulf Shores has to offer, yet it feels private and remote...perfect for relaxing.

There is a lagoon in the front yard with a small private dock for fishing, crabbing and kayak launching. Use of 4 kayaks and a paddle boat are included with the rental! You can kayak the Gulf Shores canals and Little Lagoon from the house, even head over to the Original Oyster House or other local restaurants for a kayak up lunch!

There are 3 bedroom, 2 full baths and a private outdoor shower with hot & cold water (everyone's favorite!). The 3rd bedroom we call the bunk room and includes an additional TV viewing area, two bunk bed sets, a queen bed and a private balcony. It's a perfect area for kids.

Rental also includes a washer/dryer, beach chairs, umbrellas, beach boards, floats, sand toys, corn hole, crab cage, charcoal grill, etc. (Note: there are a few fishing poles and old bikes folks have left at the house - if they are there you are free to use them, I just cant guarantee they will still be there and work.)

The Gulf State Park is only 2 miles via paved path - so bring your bikes and explore the 26+ miles of the Gulf State Park trails (all paved paths or boardwalks).

Besides the beach, kayaking, biking and relaxing - there are lots of other fun things to in the area!
1) Gulf State Park: The Fishing pier is great for fishing and also fun to walk out and watch what's being caught. There is also a nature center in the Park and great new restaurants at the Lodge.
2) Gulf Shores' parks & rec: The Bodenhamer Rec center offers day & week passes. The center has a large indoor heated pool w/aqua-climb wall, full service fitness/exercise center and fitness classes, indoor basketball and racquetball courts, tennis courts and game room. There is also a large outdoor play ground with jungle gym
3) Day trip to Fort Morgan, Dauphin Island (the ferry ride is fun), Bellingrath Gardens, Bayou La Batre (yes Bubba it's a real place and has the BEST SHRIMP)
4) Day trip to Fairhope - an amazing town on the cliffs of Mobile Bay. Great shops, restaurants, parks, history. Check out Weeks Bay Pitcher Plant Bog and Weeks Bay Estuarine Research Reserve on the way.
5) Day trip to Pensacola - Catch a Blue Angel show or practice, climb the lighthouse, visit the National Naval Air Museum which rivals the Smithsonian Air/Space (also free).

Beautiful property. Kids loved the kayaks and being able to fish off the dock or walk 5 minutes to the beach. Host was so amazing and accommodating. Neighbor was so nice and incredibly helpful. She gave us so many tips and tricks for the area. Would definitely stay here again. Perfect location for everything. Our family had a great vacation in this wonderfully located peaceful home for the week! Close enough to all the action and short walk to the beach! Yet so peaceful! Use of the kayaks was an added bonus and everyone loved the outdoor shower when coming back from the beach! We hope to be back again!

The house was in a great location, one block walk to the beach and lots of local eateries nearby as well. The sunsets off the front porch were spectacular and we enjoyed them each evening. The small house has plenty of room for everyone to spread out and is super cozy and comfortable!

Great place to stay!

Great place to stay! The owner was great & very quick to respond to questions. Everything you need for the beach is here. The kids enjoyed the kayaks & paddleboat. Very short walk to the beach. The location is away from the traffic, but still within walking distance of shopping & restaurants. We were welcomed by the neighbor & she gave us great recommendations on where to go to eat, things to do & places to avoid. I highly recommend staying here!

Happy place for our family!

This house was absolutely amazing! It's a very short walk to the beach, but away from noise and traffic. The house was clean, spacious, well stocked and easily fit our family of 7. We really enjoyed kayaking and the sunset views on front porch were breathtaking. Owner was very helpful and thorough. We had everything we needed with no hassle. We would totally come back to this great home again!

Family Fun

Good location if you don’t want beachfront. Very walkable to the beach. Accommodations were very good for our nine. Comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen, lots of outside sitting. Bicycles were definitely a plus. The walk thru a bedroom from the back bedroom to the bathroom was a little inconvenient. Missed the sound of the ocean but a very good place to stay.

The house was very cute, clean and the couple issues we had were with the Ac which was fixed within an 1hr of talking to the owner and the fridge was fixed by the next morning by 8am. The owner did find us a neighbors fridge to use until ours could be fixed. The beach is the perfect location with shops and food in walking distance. The teenagers favorite place to hangout in the evenings was at The Hangout! Theu had live bands every night. Overall we had an incredible experience for our first trip to Gulf Shores

The best of both worlds

Enjoyed our stay in this quiet neighborhood tucked away, but not far, from the main stretch by the beach. It was very clean and we felt at home the moment we walked in. We arrived hours earlier than expected and the neighbor, who came out and greeted us, gave us the go-ahead to go on in early. Loved the fully stocked shed. It was great to have plenty umbrellas, chairs and the rolling cart to walk it the two blocks to the beach. It was a bonus having access to the kayaks. That was the selling point for me. Morning time was best at sunrise. Gets pretty toasty any later than that on the lagoon! Thanks for a great stay!

End of Summer

Great location. My husband enjoyed the dock and kayaks. He went out every morning to fish through the canals. The covered parking was a blessing to be in the shade. I had two, 18 year old girls, our daughter and her friend, and our 10 year old son. They rode the bikes every night around the beach, to the shops and to get ice cream. The shed was fully stocked for sure as well as everything we needed in the kitchen. We had plenty of room and could have invited more. Neighbor was very friendly and would give us great tips about how to avoid traffic, where to eat, etc. I would recommend to my friends and family.

Rent this place!

We loved, loved, loved this house. It was close to everything. My teens walked everywhere and of course the beach is just 2 blocks away. The beach closet - oh my gosh! We are life long beach goers and there was stuff in the closet I would not have even thought of! The 2 beach carts were a life saver lugging sand toys, chairs, umbrellas, etc to the beach (all provided by this rental). My younger kids had a blast playing in the shaded area under the house and in the backyard. The outdoor shower has HOT WATER! We mostly cooked during our stay and there was nothing we could not find in the kitchen. It was fully stocked. Washer and dryer were in the house so it was so easy to do laundry. The bedrooms were bright and spacious. The photos on this listing do not do this home justice. It was absolutely beautifully decorated. 2 full bathrooms! A huge tv. And the covered balcony to watch the sunset was probably my favorite spot. Next door neighbor was super nice and her recommendations for restaurants, etc. were spot on. If you rent this place listen to her advice! She lives there full time. The host checked in on us through the VRBO app but not in an intrusive way. She genuinely wanted us to have a great stay - which we did. We will be back!

Great Beach House!!!

My family had an amazing visit to Gulf Shores. A few of our favorite things staying at "My Happy Place": 1. Sitting on deck. We enjoyed observing the local birds and fish in the lagoon. It was so quiet on the street! 2. Riding bikes located in shed to businesses nearby. 3. Quick walk to beach. The walk to beach was quick and everything that was needed was located in shed (wagon, chairs, and flotation devices provided). My family plans to visit next year. Thanks for an amazing and restful stay!!

Just the right mix of beautiful beaches, things to do, relaxed atmosphere, friendly people, great food and good music! I did the 30A thing until I rediscovered Gulf Shores. No comparison - GS is awesome! I love to bike, kayak, swim, hike, shop, explore, eat, listen to great music and Gulf Shores/Fort Morgan/Orange Beach has it all!

Why they chose this property

Those of us who live on W 2nd think we have the best street in Gulf Shores! Yes we on an unpaved, dead-end road and we like it like that! There is no through traffic, privacy, water access for fishing or kayaking - yet we are minutes from the beach and to the heart of Gulf Shores. Come live the Gulf Shores' motto "Small Town, Big Beach".
