Overview

About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

We have several dates available for weekends this fall, our favorite time to enjoy the lake. During the winter months, we often have guests who rent for 2-3 months at a time. Folks from colder climes enjoy the more moderate weather at Lake Norman. We currently have January through March of 2019 available. An occupancy beginning in late December is open for discussion. We are also taking reservations for the summer of 2019. Summer reservations are full weeks only, always Saturday to Saturday.

Send an inquiry for the dates you are interested in and we will send a detailed response.

This is NOT your average listing. It is actively managed by us, the owners. We live about 15 mins away and are able to ensure that it continues to be kept clean and fresh and is a welcoming place for folks looking to relax and unwind from the normal day to day stresses. As an artist and a general contractor, we have been able to put our own unique mark on the home.

We have been overwhelmed by the response in the last several years at how well the home has been received and are gratified by the large number of repeat guests we have. Take a look at our reviews. We really enjoy keeping it well maintained and providing a place where folks can come and re-connect with family and the parts of their lives that are so easily ignored in the bustle of day to day life.

Be sure and check out the video tab on the top of the picture to the left of this text.

My parents built this home 50 years ago. We have a boatload of memories here and we invite you now to visit and make your own special memories. It is a lovely, secluded, romantic, cozy waterfront cottage which was extensively and artfully remodeled in early 2007. The bathrooms and kitchen were brought up to current standards. Every year we manage to find new things to update and improve. In 2012 we reworked the storage space under the porch to make it much more attractive and we added an outdoor hot & cold water shower. It is a really nice place to clean up and rinse off the lake water. We also added the outdoor fire-pit. In 2013 we pulled up the worn carpet on the porch and my wife painted a pond scene on the floor. Now you can dip your toes in the "pond" while you rock on the porch. We replaced all of the kitchen appliances in 2015. Every room has a water view. The location is convenient to I-77 exits 33 and 36.

The master bedroom has a cathedral ceiling with a treetop view through the skylights over the queen-size bed. Three windows provide an expansive view of the lake. The connecting master bath has a spacious shower, also with a lake view. The screen porch is perfectly suited to catch summer breezes coming off of the lake. It is a perfect place for a morning cup of coffee or an evening drink while watching the sunset.

The interior has been lovingly decorated with original artwork. New hardwood flooring in the common areas. New carpet in the bedrooms. There are two TVs with cable and two DVD players. The kitchen is well equipped.

You will have exclusive use of your own (splinter-free) private dock with floating boat slip. The slip has very deep water. The dock is easily seen from the screen porch. You can watch the kids fishing while you are grilling dinner. The dock has both a ladder and steps into the water. Perhaps your biggest challenge may be getting the kids out of the water long enough to eat.

Please check our calendar for availability. We work hard to keep it up to date.

While the home is close to many good restaurants and other attractions, you will feel that you have entered your own private retreat. The shape of the lot means that adjacent houses are more behind rather than next to our house. Privacy and seclusion are the operative words to describe the feel of the house.

About The Owner

We've been married more than 35 years. We were high school sweethearts in Charlotte. We spent almost 20 years in and around NYC and now are thrilled to be back in North Carolina. We really enjoy sharing this house where we have so many memories with folks from all over.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2003

Why The Owner chose Mooresville

This house has been in Larry's family for nearly 50 years. It was built in 1967. We both have just tons of memories that are set in this home. We have had a ball updating the home and sharing it with friends and family and guests.

What makes this cottage unique

The house has a very secluded feel to it. With over 460' of waterfront and an abundance of trees it is easy to forget that there are other homes around. Yet, it is just moments from Mooresville and the interstate. The screen porch is our absolute favorite feature to the house and sitting on the dock in the early morning with a cup of coffee is THE best way to start the day.

They thought of everything!

  • 5 of 5

We always go to the beach for vacation but wanted something different this year. We definitely found it. This place is amazing! The owners have thought of everything you could possibly need. The house is beautiful and the lake is so peaceful. We fished, we swam, we sat on the screen porch and just enjoyed the scenery. It was one of the most relaxing vacations we have ever had. I highly recommend it!

Owner's Response: Thanks Kari, This is our 12th season opening the house to guests and we enjoy doing it more than ever. Every year we spend a little time at the house ourselves and try to experience it as our guests do. This helps us immeasurably to see and experience what needs improving. Thank you for your kind review. We hope you are able to return again soon.

Quiet, clean, perfect.

Perfect size for us and our furry children. Screened in porch is the best room in the house. Fully furnished kitchen is a rarity in a rental. We loved our two weeks here.

Owner's Response: Our own experience has always been that when we are there we don't want to leave. Dinner prepared at home and enjoyed on the porch is usually our preference. Traveling to the restaurant by boat is a close second though. We are so glad you enjoyed it.

Perfect Lakehouse Get Away - Quiet Cove, Tranquil Screened Porch, Pet Friendly

  • 5 of 5

This was our families 10th year at Sheltered Cove. The setting is perfect for family time. The covered porch on the wooded lot is lovely even in the middle of a hot August day. We make a lot of use of the covered dock that also gives a nice shady spot while enjoying the lake. The quiet cove is a great place for swimming and fishing, while still convenient to the main channel for skiing and tubing. We are so thankful for a spot that also welcomes pets since our dog is an important part of family time. The small house (2 bedrooms) is well maintained providing all the essentials and is beautifully decorated.

The house gives you a secluded back in the woods on the lake feeling wile still being conveniently minutes away from the town of Mooresville. We look forward to our next annual visit to Sheltered Cove.
