Was hoping for a more memorable experience for good reasons

I always try to rate our vacation stays based on what my kids remember the most and although the proximity of the beach was amazing, everything else did not align with other reviews I read prior to booking. My kids will always associate "big black flies" with this trip due to the overwhelming amount of flies that took over the upstairs bedroom that eventually worked their way down to the main floor. I reached out a few times to the host on our way to the house as well as upon our arrival regarding the lack of paper towels, toilet paper, tissues and detergent. I understand there is a limit but ONE full roll would of helped and detergent to do ONE load would of been greatly appreciated. I did not hear from the host until after we departed the beach house. And the reason given was because they were not in a good reception area since they were camping in VT. If you have guests staying out your place for their vacation, wouldn't you make sure they had someone to reach out to in case any issues or questions came up? I'm an events manager so logistics and communication is SUPER important so this was very upsetting and frustrating to me on a completely different level. And due to the influx of flies, we even left a day early. I have NEVER left early from a family vacation on the Cape before. I would of liked to get a refund for half of our stay vs. one day (due to leaving early) since the black flies issue was really out of control. I'm sure it's been addressed since our stay in early August (I hope) but the lack of communication and the actual size of the space was tough with two small children (2.5 yo and 7 yo). Other reviews mentioned how great it was with little ones but I completely disagree. The space is super small, the stairs leading down to the bedrooms the kids would sleep are very narrow and steep and the ones going up to the bedroom were not any better. I am also used to cooking for my kids while on vacation so if that is something you like to do, this beach house isn't for you. The kitchen is about 5' long and the living area is right on top of it. The stovetop is unsafe to have kids around and there is no fan to ventilate the small area so turning on the burners quickly ignited a smell of gas in the air & we had our kids step outside until it cleared. If you are single or going to the Cape as a couple, this might be a good spot for you but I do not agree that it's a family friendly location even with the beautiful beach views and location.

Little slice of East Sandwich

This cottage was extremely clean and had A/C that worked great during the 100 degree weather. This is our first Vrbo rental and the owners were very quick to respond to my emails. Great location on the private Beach

Tranquil and relaxing

Our family loved waking up to beautiful sunrises, walking down to the private beach and sleeping to the sounds of the ocean. Super close to the bridge but not lacking the Cape vibe at all. Gem of a location.

Beachfront gem!

We have stayed in many beach houses over the years and I cannot say enough about this adorable beachfront cottage. The house is perfect - clean, beachy, cozy, and roomy all at the same time. Having 3 levels was perfect for our family of 5 to spread out. The neighbors are friendly and welcoming. The views from the deck and boardwalk to beach are spectacular. Loved it!

What else could you need?

This property offered everything we needed to have an awesome week with 2 kids under 3. We had family visit for a few day trips and you really cannot beat the location. It was easy to go back and forth to the beach for meals, potty trips, sun breaks, etc. We enjoyed our stay despite some rainy days and would love to be back next year.

Amazing location right on the beach.

We had a great time. Loved the location with private stairway to private beach. Lots of room for social distancing when on the beach, but equally enjoyed the amazing water view from the roomy deck. Really fun time, flying kites, fires on the beach, gorgeous sunsets and fireworks to follow. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and well stocked. Really liked having 3 levels of living. Used the heated outdoor shower, gas grill on the deck, and excellent WiFi. Easy access to wonderful historic town and nearby convenience store, but felt like were staying in our own private beach community. Dinner on the patio at Fishermen's View was a high point. Also, go for the Cape Cod Donuts, a little bit of a drive, but well worth it. We are big fans of this property and East Sandwich.

Great beach vacation

Very nice cottage right on the beach. The house was in great shape and everything was in place as expected. House location gave easy access to area attractions. Large beach but you will need beach shoes. Overall great stay for our family.

Perfect week!

We can’t say enough about how wonderful our week in Sandwich was. The house was exactly what we needed - clean, well stocked, perfect location. We ate almost every meal on the deck overlooking the beach. We knew that the beach was rocky, so we were ready w water shoes. The sand bars and beach fires provided so much fun for our kids both day and night. As we were pulling out to head home, they asked when we were coming back! Thank you.

Cape Cod experience

This is the first time we have been to Cape Cod and we would have no hesitation to book another trip to Elise’s property. The house was in a great position in East Sandwich especially as we were so close to the beach, in fact all we had to do was go out the door walk down the steps and there it was. The house was well equipped especially in the kitchen with the utensils. The bedrooms were also fine and more than big enough to take the four of us on. People in Cape Cod were very friendly and you can either do lots or very little during the day depending on your mood and of course if you’ve rented a car. Thank you again and I hope we will return some time in the future.

Wonderful stay

The cottage was as described and very clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The upstairs bedroom is a little slice of heaven. It was a delight to listen to the waves and seagulls every morning and night. The beach is beautiful. We enjoyed the sunsets and having beach fires nightly. There are some rocky areas of the beach, so wearing water shoes makes for a more enjoyable walking experience. I would recommend this cottage for beach lovers.

Can't beat the location!!

The location of this property is awesome, you really can't beat the convenience of being steps away from the beach!! The back deck was also great for meals and grilling. There are some great restaurants within a short drive. A couple of things worth noting : linens are not included!! I didn't know this going in so want to help others not make my mistake. Also water shoes were great for the beach, it is rocky in parts.

NJ visits the Cape

I stayed for a week with my four kids. We had an amazing vacation. We spent hours on the deck grilling or playing cards or just talking. And we spent hours on the beach enjoying the water and the low tides. And at night we’d have fires and enjoy the gorgeous sunset. I’d recommend this house to anyone.

I have been vacationing on this beach with my family since the 1950's.
It was my dream to one day own my own little slice of heaven for as long as I can remember. My husband Bill and I bought this cottage in the winter of 1999. We live close enough to maintain it and stay off season with family and friends. It is my hope that my 5 little grandchildren experience the ocean and all it's treasures like I did growing up.
