About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 9)

Casa Bosco (185 square meters) offers a peaceful holiday. It is set in a lush Mediterranean garden with olive-lemon-orange-avocado trees, lots of sunny and shady spots with sea views. This charming country house has been completely renovated, and furnished in a very pleasant modern way,but has kept that special Italian country house atmosphere. On the ground floor are the living room with satellite TV, wireless internet , small sitting room with open fire and sofa bed (queen size), dining room, kitchen all with doors onto the garden and terraces. A WC with washing machine. On the upper floor, three double bedrooms, one of which has twin beds, one single room, two bathrooms with tub and/or shower. Large entrance hall with direct access to garden. There is a cot

There is a large terrace for outside dining; the garden is furnished with deckchairs. Private Gated parking. There is a large wood veranda set out into the olive grove with sea views, perfect for your FREE estate produced wine. There is a BBQ

Casa Bosco is only three km from the centre of Chiavari which is a typical old Ligurian town with arched shopping arcades, boulevards, wood broadwalk beside the sea, a marina, sandy and gravel beaches. There is a footpath into town ( quite steep) of some 600 m which goes from the house into the old part of town.

The Tigullio Bay ( 40 kilometres east of Genoa) stretches from Portofino to Sestri Levante. Chiavari has long sandy-gravel and pebble beaches, a large Marina, seaside broadwalk with gardens and flowers for an evening promenade. This beautiful coastline offers elegant seaside resorts such as Santa Margherita, Rapallo with golf club, riding center and cultural events, Zoagli a small cosy serene beauty, Sestri Levante in the Bay of Silence, two arms of the sea embracing a village suspended in blue. Last but not least: Portofino, which does not need to be introduced to you: the rich and the beautiful ( and you) in the little harbour for an aperitive, cappucino or meal.

Chiavari is a typical Ligurian City, good shopping, good restaurants, historic Cathedral, and the well known antique market, and daily fruit market, Wonderful speciality food shops (but also convenience supermarkets too)

East of the Tigullia bay is the national park 'Cinque Terre' which is best reached by train (30 minutes from Chiavari), five miles of rocky shore, thousands of kilometres dry stone walls, famous vinyards, five 'Cinque' little villages 'Terre' once only possible to reach by sea. The dramatic coast falling to the sea with cliffs which are often vertical, enchanting beaches among the rocks, the world renowned trail connecting the villages.

One week in Casa Bosco is too short: beaches, sea trips to Portofino and San Fruttuoso, or all the way down to Porto Venere, walking in the Cinque Terre, shopping in Genoa, Zoagli a must, Nervi's seaside boulevard you should not miss and the fresh fish market in S. Margherita. FOODIES will love this house, we will provide FREE Exra Virgin Olive Oil and wines produced on the estate - ideal accompaniments to the local specialities, pasta al pesto, anchovies in lemon, foccaccia and pies - sweet and savoury - and of course the wonderful ice-creams.

About jennifer or mauro coppola

Mauro and Jennifer live in the Coppola family villa and produce red and white wine from grape varieties grown on their estate.

The hundreds of ancient olive trees on the estate surrounding Casa Bosco produce excellent extra virgin olive oil.

We enjoy growing and producing the good things on the land and are very happy to share them free of charge with our guests so they can sample the true Italian Ligurian tastes and hospitality.

We produce apricots, peaches, oranges and lemons which all go into our home made jams and jellies.

Autumn brings the avocado pear harvest for guacamole, [trees introduced into the land by Mauro's Mexican great great grandmother in 1912 and now very large and stately] We traveled the world and lived in Africa,Brazil,VenezuelaEngland, where Mauro worked as a consultant geologist. After so much time abroad we decided to return to our roots in Italy and continue the family tradition of wine producing and olive cultivation.

jennifer or mauro coppola purchased this house in 1860

Why jennifer or mauro coppola chose Liguria

Having lived in many different countries and continents we chose to come back to the old family estate to enjoy the beauty of Liguria with its dazzling blue Mediterranean Sea, and hinterland of higher land rising to mountains where you can ski in winter.

Walk and trek through ancients landscapes and along rocky seaside paths all year round

Enjoy gardening in the Mediterranean climate.

What makes this house unique

Here we can be in the centre of town in 5 minutes by car or footpath through our land but once we are home the world seems far far away.

From Genoa airport we can be in London in just over an hour or reach further destinations from Milan International Airport just 2 hours by train.

We love to show our guests around our villa/castle home, our wine cellar and vinyards and share a glass or two of estate produced wine with them in our shady garden as we get to know each other a little bit better.

Our 'home away from home'!

  • 5 of 5

We love coming here for a peaceful stay- especially off-season. This is our third time down here and we love Chiavari too- it's a 'real' town which doesn't feel as though it is only open in the summer. The train ride to Cinque Terre is very easy (and very affordable) and there are many lovely walks in this area which don't require a car.

Jennifer and Mauro are extremely hospitable and we enjoyed their oil and wine so much that we took some home!

Highly recommended for all types of people and all types of holiday- a lovely getaway!

A home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Casa Bosco offers the serenity of the country while being just a pleasant ten minute walk from the old town of Chiaveri. We loved the peaceful bustle of life around the open air market often sitting at a table on the edge of the piazza enjoying a capucino and watching the townspeople go about their business. There are also many nearby towns that we fell in love with including Camogli, Zoagli, Sestri Levante and Portovenere.

I highly recommend a stay at Casa Bosco.

1 week summer holiday with teenagers

  • 4 of 5

Casa Bosco has rustic charm - accommodation is spacious and the house was equipped with everything we required. The garden offered a flat grass area to play football on , and a decking area as a pleasant place in which to sit and relax but it's only a short walk into the busy town of Chiavari . Although there are beaches locally and along the coast too, we weren't able to find a good sandy beach - at the time we visited all were very crowded and the vast majority are sectioned off by hotels who charge for access to a sun bed . The small strips of public beach were in our experience poorly maintained. However if you are looking for more than a beach holiday there are plenty of places to visit in the area & Chiavari itself is much more than a tourist town - you feel you are seeing the real Liguria .

Jennifer was extremely welcoming, kind and helpful - it was good to have her on hand to answer any questions about the house or area and she dealt with a Wifi problem quickly and efficiently .

three weeks at Casa Bosco

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed the quick and easy access into Chiavari via footpath well at the same time loving the peaceful privacy of being on the estate. The town is big enough to provide all the facilities we wanted but small enough to be manageable on foot. The train service was very good and we used it almost exclusively to get up and down the coast. Also enjoyed the ferry boat service. We found many hiking trails in the area from the Cinque Terre to Portofino and points in between. Finally the hospitality of our hosts, Mauro and Jennifer, helped to make our stay an outstanding one.

Wonderful house in a charming city

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in Casa Bosco with another couple for a week in October 2010, and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. It was very hard to leave both the spacious, accomodating house and the city of Chiavari. We took the train to the Cinque Terre and also to Genoa to meet friends for lunch. Both journies were easy from Chiavari. But our explorations of the city itself and quiet times at the house were as enjoyable. Grilling over olive wood, having coffee out on the deck--all our little domestic rituals were a great pleasure. Our host was helpful and the wifi splendid! We didn't have a car, by the way, and walked down to the town and back when we ate out or went shopping at the market. Chiavari is blessed with terrific wine and food--and we felt lucky to be there.

Wonderful stay at this comfortable and relaxing house

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks at Casa Bosco. The house was exactly as described, with plenty of creature comforts, good facilities and wonderful views. We were amply supplied by our generous hosts with wine, olive oil and other delights from the estate. There are numerous restaurants in the area (the fish is brilliant), and plenty of places to explore either by car or train. Highly recommended.
