Bright, Beautiful Year Round Cottage on Paudash Lake
Our family has recently purchased and renovated this cottage on Paudash Lake. Paudash is a beautiful lake located just south of Bancroft Ontario bordering the Kawarthas and Haliburton regions of Ontario's cottage country. The cottage is easy to get to from HWY 28 and is close to Bancroft or Apsley if you need groceries or an LCBO.
The cottage is great in all seasons. In the winter months, we are very close to some of the best snowmobile trails, hiking, and cross country skiing trails at Silent Lake Provincial Park. In the summer there is a marina on the lake if you are interested in renting a boat or water toys. We have a canoe, a paddleboard and 2 kayaks on the property for your use.
Our cottage has a new kitchen and each room has been newly decorated. The cottage is 2 stories high with cathedral ceilings in the living room and a screened outdoor sitting room so you can enjoy the amazing view of the lake. We are on a well and the water is very safe to drink and cook with. Sun exposure is east and we have the most beautiful sunrise views. Directly behind our cottage is a large park for throwing a ball or walking through the trails.
The main cottage has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 8 comfortably. All mattresses in the cottage are brand new and very comfortable for sleeping. All bedding is provided and of the finest quality.
Here is a breakdown of beds in the cottage: Bedroom 1 (2nd floor)- 1 California king bed Bedroom 2 (2nd floor) - 2 single beds + a bunk bed Bedroom 3 (main floor)- 1 queen bed
Check-in is 4pm and check-out is 11am.
Paudash Lake is a wonderful place for a family vacation. We are very respectful of the lake, the environment and our neighbours. We are only looking for renters who will do the same. Please contact me (Kim) with any questions.

A spacious, bright, clean and welcoming property. The kitchen had all the amenities, including an icemaker and coffee machine. The dock gets full sun in the morning, shaded in the afternoon on a quiet lake. Lots of nature along the shoreline to explore in the kayaks. Pet friendly too! The lake is clear and not weedy—perfect for swimming.
Was very comfortable for four adults; there were a lot of smaller beds we didn't use, but only one full bathroom might be a bit of a tight squeeze for larger groups. House came with everything we needed to enjoy the lake: towels, floaties, kayaks, life vests, bug spray, and plenty of seating on the dock. Fire pit was excellent and stocked with firewood. A few fans were provided but it might be good to bring some extra for hot days given there's no AC. Kitchen is mostly well-stocked, and Kim was very communicative even though things went smooth and we didn't need much. The wifi was pretty slow, but enough for necessities (though honestly that was probably a plus for me).Best part for me was the sunroom, which is cool and comfy throughout the day and overlooks an absolutely gorgeous view of the lake and the well-kept pathway down to the dock. My fiancée proposed to me on a cool, sunny day and that vista made for the perfect moment. So I'm a little biased, but I loved every minute here.
A memorable stay for my wife and I, our 3 adult kids, son in law and infant grandchild. Bedrooms for everybody and plenty of space for boardgames and eating together.
The lake view is terrific with peaceful early morning sunrises.
We had very hot weather so the cottage could get hot but with fans (no AC) and dips in the lake we stayed comfortable. We enjoyed using the kayaks to explore the bay.
Kim provided great instructions and the cottage was well outfited. Remember to bring suncreeen and bug spray.
This cottage was a lovely place to while away hot days and rainy ones too July 2019. Every room was spacious and well appointed. The location is outstanding, the lake itself is lovely and calm too. The property and cottage both have many areas to set up for various spells of the day and enough to allow for adults and kids to have lots of private time & space as well as group time. Really loved it :) Might even come back !
I have a few health issues, so I found the walk down (and up) to the lake quite challenging. Also some areas of the walk were covered with pine needles making it quite slippery. The rest of my group didn’t have a problem.
Felt like home as soon as we walked through the door. Lots of space and very comfortable, especially the beds. Kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and not having to worry about brining our owns sheets and towels was nice. Very clean too.
Down at the water, the dock had lots of seating. The water was really clean and deep off the dock and a good temperature already considering it was only June. The lake was big enough to paddle for a couple hours and still not explore everything. And the location of the cottage was far enough away from the main boat lanes that they didn’t disturb us with noise or waves.
And our host was great. Timely on the information and checked in to see if all was good, but then left us alone to enjoy the cottage. Just the right level of attention.
Kim's cottage is beautiful! The inside was clean and set up perfectly for our needs! The main floor has lovely large glass windows so we spent time overlooking the lake while sitting in front of the cozy fire. The area around the property is well suited for nature lovers. There is a small trail in the forest just on the other side of the road and a provincial park less than 10 mins away! The only down side of the location is that the cottage is close to the neighbours who have giant spotlights all around the exterior of their cottage and the light shines into Kim's place. Overall, my partner and I had an amazing week at the cottage and are already looking to book it again! Thanks so much!
We have rented many times over the years, mainly in the Buckhorn/Kawarthas area. This is our first rental on Paudash we love this lake.
Rent a boat and tube from the marina, and go find the jumping rocks. So worth it. BBQ on the deck or cook in the beautiful kitchen. Cottage decor is exactly as pictured. Simple but very pretty and very clean. Quiet and private. Dishwasher and laundry and two bathrooms are huge bonuses, as are the potable water and Wifi. We loved the stand up paddle board and kayak. Perch, sunfish and a small bass caught right off the dock.
Kim and Jamie were readily available to respond to our questions. We had a great time, and hope to return next year.
We loved our week at Kim’s cottage. The kitchen had everything we could’ve wanted, and outside we found the best BBQ ever. Inside was comfy and cozy with its blue and white theme and we felt at home right away. We loved the east exposure: and we are usually west-exposure people! The sunrises were magnificent and there was plenty of sun all day on the dock. I’m converted!
I think this cottage is best for able-bodied people though. My 94-year old mom had a bit of trouble getting down to the dock, and my sister’s husband, with his hip problems, had a hard time climbing up onto the extraordinarily high bed on the ground floor. We made do though!
Kim is friendly and responsive and a fine host. And who could quibble about Paudash Lake? It’s perfect!!
Overall we enjoyed our stay. The cottage is on an excellent part of lake with beautiful views and great swimming and there is a lovely provincial park with enjoyable hiking very close by. The floating dock with ample seating is a highlight and a great place to spend the day. The dwelling itself is cute but damp with awkward lighting and an extremely unreliable wi-fi connection (just don't expect to do any work or be able to finish watching a movie). There are a few things that could be addressed to make it more pleasant: broken curtain rod and trim, smelly fridge with water leaking out from under the large produce drawer, old broken items lying around outside and stuffed under the docks, moldy window sills, gaps in the faux flooring, peeling/rotting outdoor furniture. The canoe is missing paddles and a front seat, which contributed to a dramatic capsize and rescue operation for our group and a squishy walk home off someone else's property from the nearest dock - be sure to wear a life vest and bag your phone! We did not use the bunkie as it smelled and a previous guest had left their clothes in it. The beds are extremely squishy, so be prepared to end up on one of the very comfortable couches instead. The shower is great and has the best water pressure in the place. It is hard to see to do the dishes (there are no lights over the sink). (Note: the lockbox is at the front door, not the back door as instructed, and the wi-fi network and password provided by Vrbo are incorrect.)
This was our third time staying at this wonderful cottage. We are always happy to return to this special place. The cottage is so welcoming with its tasteful decor and airy feel. The bedrooms make it obvious that the comfort of their guests is a top priority for the hosts. The top quality bedding and superior mattresses were much appreciated by us all. The kitchen is well equipped and we never found ourselves without the necessities to prepare a meal. The floating dock is where we spent most of our days. We appreciate the different seating options and the sun umbrella was a bonus. We've rented a few different cottages in the area, but this is the one we keep coming back to. It's definitely our favourite.
Our overall impression was excellent. Comfortable, tasteful decor with lots of room and amenities for a family to relax and have fun at the cottage. The view from the cottage and the dock was beautiful. Be sure to get up early to catch a gorgeous sunrise. Kim was an excellent host. She was sure to provide you with all the information you needed to make your stay trouble free and was available to answer your questions.
I would recommend Kim’s cottage to friends and family and would love to book again .
The cottage is absolutely wonderful!! Beautiful views, comfortable, clean in a gorgeous area. We had everything we need and more... we highly recommend this cottage!
This is a great property with excellent views and amenities. The property owners are wonderful and this lake is one of the best in the area. Highly recommend this property!
Cozy friendly cottage on the east shore of Paudash Lake. The lake is wonderful. There is a good dock and kayaks and a stand up paddle board come with the cottage rental. We easily slept 6 and the Bunkie was great for privacy for a daughter and her partner. Kitchen was very well supplied and had some basic spices as well, which was appreciated. Loved the screened in porch for early morning coffee and late evening hangout.
We absolutely enjoyed our time here with our family. The cottage was just as shown with amazing views of the lake. We were 6 adults; me, my husband, kids, spouses and a toddler who loved playing in the bunky. The beds were very comfy including in the bunky where my daughter and partner stayed. The kitchen had everything we needed and the long kitchen Island was a great added space! We all spent a lot of time down at the huge dock which had loads of seating. The wonderful lake swimming was the icing on the cake. Kim was great at responding to any questions.
Thoroughly enjoyed our time at Lake Paudash. The cottage was very well equipped, comfortable and nicely decorated. Kitchen was a good size and had everything we needed. Lot's of choice for sleeping with 3 bedrooms, bunky and bunk beds in open area. All the beds were very comfortable. Kim was great to deal with always replying promptly with any information we needed. Location on the lake was great - lot's of sun in on the dock in the morning and some shade in the afternoon. Paudash is a very pretty, quiet lake, great for swimming.
Enjoyed a quiet week at this cozy cottage. The cottage was beautiful and everything was included to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We enjoyed canoeing and fishing on Lake Paudash.
This was our second time staying at Kim's place. We enjoyed our time here last year so much that we delighted to return. Kim's attention to detail in the cottage makes it the most welcoming space. The beds are unbelievably comfortable and the bedding is top notch. It was warm outside during our stay, but we were never uncomfortable at night with the ceiling fans running. The kids enjoyed sleeping in the bunkie and swimming in the lake. Highly recommend!
We were at this cottage late in June, and it felt almost like we had the lake to ourselves as the full summer season hadn't started yet--very peaceful! The rooms were just as pictured, the kitchen had lots of counter space to work on, the owners had thought of pretty much everything we might need. The screened in porch was great for sitting bug-free in the evenings, and the dock was very spacious, with lots of Muskoka chair seating and a couple of cushioned and comfortable loungers. There was a stand up paddle board, a couple of kayaks and I believe there was also a canoe although we did not get a chance to use it. Definitely recommend!
Our host was wonderful, very easy to communicate with. Property information was detailed and we loved the nearby restaurants that were recommended as well. Great place, will definitely book again.

About the host
Hosted by Kim Harland
Our family is originally from the east coast of Canada, we moved to Ontario 25 years ago and have been trying to find a place that reminds us of the maritimes.
Why they chose this property
We plan to retire to this beautiful lake but for now our children play too many sports for us to get up every weekend.
What makes this property unique
The water is clean and clear with no weeds, which makes for great swimming. You can jump right off the dock. We have a canoe, 2 kayaks and a paddle board you are welcome to use on the lake to go exploring. There is cliff jumping and sandy beaches to explore on the lake.
